How to skate faster on the ice ⚡️
In this video I show you a hockey speed workout that will help make you a faster skater. The workout is outlined below as well.
A - 5 x 20yd sprint with 75secs rest
B - 5 x 1 Double broad jump into 10yd sprint with 75secs rest
C - 5 x 12 Kettlebell swing with emphasis on hip explosion/extension with 75 secs rest
D - 5 x 30yd sprint with 90secs rest
Make sure you do a full warm up before the speed workout!

Your squatting the kettlebell swing, remember it's a hip hinge movement! Keep the kettlebell above the knees and plant the feet in the ground like they are talons and you'll feel better glute recruitment but otherwise great video!

should i be leaning forwards and down low when sprinting like i would for a long reach stride on ice or is standing up straight more fine when doing this

I've been taught to start sprinting leaning forward and gradually as you reach top speed you start to stand up straight

Do you have any tips for a small player going into bantam year on how to take a hit?

a big part of it is absorbing it, if you're against the boards make sure you're already against the boards in safe and ready position before you actually get hit, another key for all hitting is keeping your knees bent for more stability especially in open ice situations. Keep your head up

Also a strong core helps - planks in all directions, hanging leg raises, deadlifts, ab wheels, pallof presses etc.

I would recommend investing $10-20 in a kettlebell. You can use a substitute like a small backpack with weights loaded in, or just check out our other speed workouts on this channel!

I've been doing every speed workout everyday for the past week will I notice a difference in another 2 weeks when my exobition games start

Your body needs time to recover, I wouldn't recommend speed training like this more than 3 times a week!
