I played vs fan in bronze 5 and personally really enjoyed it. He 100% was trolling with a dono to do no siege dmg on ktz and even though our team was getting farmed we still had a winnable game.

Can only speak for myself but as a Bronzi I would be happy to play against Fan. His bronze to GM games always look extremely entertaining, at least better than the usual tryhard clown fiastas I usually get.

@@johnschnee3344 its not even trolling so much as bronze has a large caste of people who arent good, have no real interest in being good, and don't really care if other people are good. they're the definition of casuals and they're pretty fun to play with but yeah bronze also has the group of ppl who are constantly cycling through new accounts getting banned and being giga toxic so yeah there are tryhards there but true bronze, ppl with like 1000+ games and bronze 5, are usually pretty quiet and chill win or lose

B2G is so much fun because of the bonkers heroes and strats and the overall carefree attitude. I dont want to see the 7 millionth try hard game with the same 10 meta heroes again and again. Where else can you see a butcher standing next to a murky egg and farming infinite meat :D

Chatter also should realize there is a vast difference between tryharding and simply... trying. It's not like you're trolling and not trying at all. You just aren't tryharding. Because that's not FUN to do for an entire season. And we play games for FUN. And not everyone else is tryharding either. I wouldn't want to play storm league at ALL if I was expected to give 120% every match -- I'd just stick to QM in that case. And I know I'm not the only one, which would in turn make queue times for SL even longer...

Okay, the part about whether it's fair on the other 4 players is just so unnecessary. Griefing is obviously bad, but a) Fan never griefs, b) Storm League isn't meant to be taken as seriously as that person is suggesting.

As someone on the gold ladder, I love it when Fan plays B2GM. It doesn't bother me that he's smurfing. It's a pleasure to play both with and against him. Fan is the greatest teacher to grace HOTS. This is my source of learning. This is how I climb. It's super entertaining besides.

Crazy bc fan made popular the exodia fountain focus with genji a legit strat just bc fun or troll and hots balance team had to rebalance fountains many times, giving shields, increasing hp but it was op against bronzies so they had to make invincible fountains

I enjoyed the digression about smurfing; another thing worth mentioning is that when Fan goes against lower ranks he tries to handicap himself in order to give others a fairer chance ( not using all the buttons, following bronzies' orders, flaming back to toxic teammates and so on)... of course the skillgap is still massive, but that doesn't hurt either and it makes the B2GM even funnier!

I've never felt like your bronze to Gm series was a negative for the game at all. I play this game all the time and I very much doubt that if I played against Fan that I would hate the game. Even if I lost it would probably still really enjoy the game. Fan really is just a super cool guy.

B2GM is also a nice way for you to play with the community, most ppl will never get to GM so this is the only chance that they have to play a fun game with you (other then ARAMs , but I personally enjoy real games more)

When I stop playing HOTS for likes months even years, Fan ( and because I like the game too), is one of the main reasons I come back, watching him play, having fun is really entertaining and make me want to play again, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in that case.

I've had the privilege of playing in several B/GM games with Fan, usually I'm on the other team. I've never had a bad experience in these games. In fact, I enjoy watching those games from his perspective because I inevitably learn something about the game that I didn't know before.

I don't really get the "fair to your teammates" argument for not putting in 100% all the time. From any other masters players POV, yeah Fan isn't playing his hardest when they're on the same team, but he's also not playing his hardest when he's on the enemy team too. It's actually better for other masters players if Fan doesn't try, since it's easier to win against him and it's a bit more likely that they play against Fan rather than with him. So long as you're consistently not playing at 100% (ie. not sandbagging when specific other players are on your team), I don't see how it's unfair to your teammates.

Well said Fan. I think you put it really well. In a perfect world, smurfing is a bad thing, but you aren’t making that decision in a vacuum. I get that he really wishes there was HGC caliber play he could watch, but that’s blizzards fault, not yours. Plus even then, I’d imagine most of not all pro players would have at least a few “for fun” games thrown in. Life is too short to take everything so seriously, much less a game that doesn’t have a legit pro scene anymore. We’re all here to have a good time, have some laughs, and pray to the almighty geometry god that we end up behind their healer and not their tower

I agree with Fan's assessments. But to add, 'tryharding' as it's derogatorily known is fun for many people. For some it's the only reason they play. They relish the challenge and skill improvement over time, and it becomes an accomplishment they can look back on with pride and enjoyment. That's how THEY play the game. I 100% agree with people playing the game the way they enjoy, whether it's 'tryharding' or just fooling around. But that being said, I am a 'tryhard', and being forced to cooperate with people of lower skill because of weird matchmaking algorithms rather than high quality skill-based matchmaking is the reason I quit the game. That isn't a criticism of other people. That's just the way the game design worked. It didn't suit me.

The thing about bronze to GM is that it lets me see the mistakes *I* make as a player that isnt plat/masters/GM. Also, people like bronze to GM because all the GM level games just seem objectively frustrating to watch. Watching Fan teach bronzies about Medic evac backdooring is incredible. I main murky in my little silver games and after watching a good chunk of Fan's murky games, which are mostly in bronze to GM, I've never had better times with my team. I've gotten MVP on murky, I've gotten "great murky"s after my team, and in the next game queues i get "theres that fucking murky" from people. It's incredible. I've never had better times with playing HOTS *because* of Fan.

It’s just a game and losing is part of the game. I used to be a try hard when I was younger, sometimes I still like to, but before that you need to be comfortable with losing and just focus on having fun. You can’t control the people you play with and sometimes you will play badly yourself, it’s part of the game. Life is too short and the haters should use their energy on something else.

I am in bronze and I would love the opportunity to play with or against a GM. Bronze to GM is awesome to watch. It also is really cool to see someone go from hard stuck bronze to GM, and goes to show people who complain and say they don't deserve their rank is totally bogus. Keep up the good work, Fan! The only part I don't like about Bronze to GM is that someone has to intentionally throw games to give you the hard-stuck bronze account.

While I agree with Fan that I've enjoyed playing against and with him in B2GM. That being said, I've seen a decent number of his troll games for donos where his actions spark a random to get toxic from his seemingly unexplainable actions to a rando not knowing he is streaming for donos. Examples of this are his zero seige or damage healer games when he doesn't heal his team. Those games while his viewers enjoy, those unsuspecting randos on his team sure have a bad experience.

When Fan has this attitude as the most popular streamer, he creates and enables others to behave same way. Yes those people would exist no matter what, but I know I take troll talents more after watching Fan do so (cause it's fun and try to see if I can do what Fan does). It's like the player who says "gg" at 2 minutes, later complaining other teammates didn't play well. Once you flag to the game you're not try harding, then the other players in the game naturally take it less seriously. You've now created the situation you say justified your behavior. The KYZ games with CCL Lucio is a good example. Lucio trolled, likely jn part because of Fans troll KTZ pick. Both actions are bad, and Lucios troll is worse, but Fan likely created that sequence of events. Fans excuse why he doesn't try hard is because no one else does, the Lucio KTZ games is exactly that but in reverse.

Clearly intentionally trolling like Fan in those dono games is far more toxic than your random silver not understanding 4 v 5 or soak>obj. Not understanding game in love levels is expected, intentional troll behavior is another.

Thats fair never said I was perfect there are some suboptimal things that will happen over a long period of time. A few points I would add to this though is that there are also plenty of teammates that get toxic from me doing the right thing(flaming while I double soak or try to not fight outnumbered/down a talent) so its not like those are the only cases where they would have a bad experience. Ironically, doing the right thing in most ELOS will also cause teammates to have a bad experience if they are doing the wrong thing(and this happens very frequently) so you have to keep that in mind. Bad experiences are just a part of multiplayer games. Also, most of the silly zero seige or damage healer games we end up winning regardless, and most people dont mind it much when you win.

Old video but still... I like watching your videos time to time but you (and others like you) were one of the reasons i stopped playing. I remember playing with you in same team really wasn't good experience. Last second troll picks and things like "I don't join you until...." is really tilting and when you are trying to do your best (in gold) and there is Fan standing without joining the fight or trolling other way is really not fun. Usually couple games in arow. And I guess I am not the only one who quit because of trolls and toxic comunity.
