Many thanks to TierZoo for collaborating with us on the history (and biology!) of pigs! You can watch his video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6xbQ2WbTp0E.html
+TierZoo now it is proven that the tagridates're *definetly* OP. They infected entire lunar moon; thanks to lackluster unsterilized space craft missions :[
i like to belivie that all the educational youtubers (extra history tier zoo the great war etc) are all in a discord then whenever they need a colab they just say "help please"
Yeah, I live in Texas and there is no formal hunting season for feral hogs because they are officially labeled a pest, therefore its always Hog Season.
In Germany the only regulation is (beyond having to train for a gun licence and respect property specific regulations) is to have wild bores inspected by a veterinarian (as they, like the mushrooms they eat might still have Chernobyl radiation left in them).
Part of me screams about the ecological damage done by intentionally introducing a species into a new environment, but part of me also appreciates the genius of starting a population on islands just in case someone needs to reprovision.
@@katanah3195even in hindsight, I think they would have still done it. They are a great food source after all, and that is something you need no matter where you go
0:30 "Eight pigs come ashore on the Cuban beach" Thus placing a key ingredient in a crucial location for the invention of one of the world's great sandwiches, though it would not arrive for centuries.
“3 years later, when De Soto’s men secretly dropped his corpse in the Mississippi River...” WOAH WOAH WOAH, you can’t just drop a bombshell like that and not elaborate! Off to Wikipedia I go...
I love how much this channel is willing to devout time to the history no one seems to think is "too boring" or obscure to devout media to them. Cause 'they' are wrong, and I am here for this!
"I'm fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals" - Winston Churchill Pigs are my favourite animal by the way. They're super cute (and also tasty)! I am baffled that comparing a person to them is used as an insult in almost any society.
Pig is food. Pigs aren't that intelligent because they don't have the ability to problem solve in the real world. They only solve human made puzzles built just for them and in the wild, they use their bodies more than their brains.
And goats were used the same way. Also, Polynesians carried chickens and charting the DNA of wild and domestic chickens in the pacific islands and in South America is telling us how prolifically the Polynesians traveled.
Awesome video guys. Loved the adorable and hilarious pig drawings despite the general gruesomeness of the history being told. Also the high pitch noise you're hearing is me, squeeing my lungs out, because as a Peruvian and a fan of this show since it's inception, I cannot WAIT for the Inca series!
It was actually the British going "where'd my pig go?" and finding it shot on an American farmer's Potato Field, causing an incident that both governments never noticed until multiple British Ships and multiple American cannons where reported on the islands, the German Kaiser at the time was asked to decide who owned the islands, and who won the stand off, the Kaiser chose the USA. Or your talking about something else then ignore what I just wrote.
a video like this on outdoor cats/feral cats and their effects on the ecosystem would be fantastic 👀 we lost 63 animal species bc of our little furry friends
EC series on khosrow (episode 2): wait, oh crap the ostrogoths just took rome. Like actual rome. Oh jeez. You mind deal with that while we- . Hey you give me that back, i am not kidding
Even as early as that Punic Wars series, they had a wise, patient leader tell his hot-headed second-in-command "Somehow 'I told you so' just doesn't cut it" after the latter got most of their army's asses handed to him by Hannibal. These are very definitely folks who know how to tell a story! 😀
Well "war pigs" were also used by the Romans as a weapon to counter elephants - lighting a bunch of them on fire and letting them run into enemy lines really scares the crap out of pachyderms. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_pig
Yes, when I go South to South Carolina my family has to watch out for wild boar. In Arizona their are wild pigs called javelinas. Good thing I live just a little north than them pigs.
I got to see an actual, real life Mayan while in Belize just a few weeks ago. It was incredible to see the views, taste the cuisine and experience the history of the Mayans! Big fan of history as we don’t know where we are going, until we know where we’ve been.
A question for Extra Credits. Do you think you will do a video on the entire Battle of the Bulge? The 75th anniversary of the battle is this December. Edit: my grandpa took part in that battle, and passed away in 2008
Mr. Cub Fan 415 This may sound a little bit of a coincidence, but I also had great-great uncle that fought in the Bulge. He just passed away this July.
For a second, I thought the title was a reference to Golden Treasure: The Great Green. It'd be the greatest event ever to fend off an invading wave/army of these things. I have the greatest image ever of just calling in Darktooth, Vantage, and Warden to have a hundreds-strong barbeque. Wolf followers optional, but preferred. (For that matter, I can also just see Bloom's rooster perched somewhere high up fruitlessly trying to recruit some extra followers to their dragon cult.)
You guys usually have a really high standard on your videos, but I have to say, This was one of your best videos so far. I absolutely love it! The humor, and such a weird and interesting topic.
The hell pig? Basically Tall Hippo. Seriously. It was omnivorous, incredibly physical and athletic, well-armored, and equipped with huge, powerful jaws. It's ONE weakness was that it was solitary, meaning smaller, more efficient group hunters eventually out-competed them.
