Looks like a very nice set. I’m of the opinion that any LEGO train should come with a full loop of track- and had that been included in the set, the set’s price would feel a lot more justified!
The price would've increased considerably more, leaving even more people undesired for the set. There are those who buys for display and those who buys for play. This is why train tracks usually sells separately. I can agree it feels pointless and unjustified for the small quantity of train tracks you get, but that's just how it is
Sooo, spending an extra $20 for a box of track versus how much extra for a loop of track included with the set? Since we don't get the power functions, yet, we get a structure, I guess LEGO believes that we'll just display this set and That Harry Potter fans probably don't have any other LEGO trains. That's understandable, but, kind of disappointing. I like castles and anything Harry Potter is interesting in the sense that many of the sets can be included in a castle MOC in some way.
For the carriages: 72463 is the set number 99721 is the number of an actual preserved BR MK1 coach, I’m guessing one of the coaches used in the movie. Edit: out of all the sets id have to say the UCS is my favourite. A lot of attention to detail in the build - especially the posable armrests in the coach - with only a few nitpicks.
I wasn't excited for this set initially, but the exclusive face-prints and the printed photo album are incredible! I'm always a sucker for exclusive prints and I'll likely Bricklink all of them.
I’ve come to appreciate the large G1 scale hogwarts express, but I do love how we have this minifigure scale version now. I argue this version is the best when it comes to the ease of modifying it to look more like the locomotive. Its beautiful
the first coach is numbered after one of the actual coaches that is still in service today as a heritage charter train. The full formation of the train is: Hall Class No.5972 Hogwarts Castle; BSK No.99723 Brake Second Corridor Coach; SK No.99716 Second Corridor Coach; SO No.99317 Second Open Coach; SK No.99721 Second Corridor Coach; and BSK No.99312 Brake Second Corridor Coach. Lovely review, think i'll be picking this up for sure!
I like how none of your videos have annoying clickbait names with emojis and exclamation points and what not. You're up front about your content and you don't bend things out of proportion. Your titles and videos are simple and I really appreciate that, It's not something I can say for a lot of other RU-vidrs.
It’s overpriced but the inclusion of two passenger cars after all these years does probably make it the best Hogwarts Express. There’s enough new stuff here to appeal to people who got the 2018 set, the Hogsmeade station, the conductor, the printed items in the cart, and the train having two passenger cars are all nice upgrades. Personally though I’ve already got the 2010 and 2018 renditions and that price will definitely keep me away from the remake. When it comes to display I’ve always preferred vertical sets with small footprints over horizontal sets with large footprints like the trains anyway. Looking forward to seeing more of these sets reviewed, especially the Battle of Hogwarts since we really don’t see the interior (or lack thereof as is often the case with recent Hogwarts sets) much in the official photos.
Not a huge harry potter fan, but i saw the first movie recently, really fun! Im also a huge british train guy, so this set is a delight! I wouldnt exactly call it cheap, but describing it as "cute" really fits. I probably wont get this any time soon but i can see this being a popular set. The train itself is an improvement from the last chunky hogwarts express and the station looks adorable! (Oh btw i noticed you had the tender backwards throughout the video 0/10 review 😅)
Yea I personally like the look of the 2018 train more.. not feeling the grey roof and bulky look on this one.. excited for the galleons and Lee Jordan minifig tho!
The color scheme of the station, including the lamp posts, is identical to what was used in hogwarts legacy the game so very happy that the set is sticking to some common lore. Also i powered this up by putting the motor under the tender and the hub in the first passenger car... it is insanely good.. best train set ever.
I’m so glad we get another Hogwarts Express set! I really appreciate you for reviewing it for us! Also I think like the new set a bit more than the others
Love your videos btw, amazing quality, quick uploads and overall just a vibe and i can expect to find almost anything that has to do with lego reviews here!
Hey just found your channel, I love the quality of the videos and how short & concise they are. After seeing your courtyard review, I've decided that I will start collecting the newer sets so i can get that complete hogwarts look. You should definitely drop a video of all the sets together. A bit off topic but definitely gained a new supporter. Definitely need this set as well, but thanks a bunch!
I have the first two versions of the train (including the monstrous UCS version) - don't think I need a third - plus I'm saving up for the Gringott's which is rumored to be $430 USD. Also, there is the matter of space for all these HP sets. Thanks for the review Caleb.
If you've got the others, you're probably fine. Hopefully those new printed pieces show up in other sets though - you've gotta get that cute chocolate frog box!
Yes! Lee Jordan. Only he was missing from the film for me. The cart design reminds me of legoland train, I wonder if both was created by the same person
As a train enthusiast I think this is by far the best version. The engine looks way more accurate and two coaches is great. If it wasn’t Harry Potter it would be a must have for me.
It's too cute! I need this one because I missed out on all of the Hogwarts Express before. I never really wanted the train before until this set came out. Hopefully it won't be too expensive when it's released in my country.
I don’t understand why they made the roofs on the carriages grey instead of black lol. They literally have always been black, even on the super accurate UCS version so I don’t see why they went out of their way to make it less accurate.
I really like the 2018 set and the feature of having driving rods for the engine, but the engine for this newest one looks like it got the shaping a lot closer to the actual train. It looks a bit longer and the boiler doesn’t look as vertically stretched (the 2018 looked like it was in the shape of a sideways eye when viewed from the front) 😅
its ironic that I just resently got the old 2018 one for my birthday than this comes out :'D I do like the fact that we have a driver now, but the roof of the cars feels weird and not having the wheel chuffer thing one the new tiny engine is a act of pure evil. I don't like the fact that the middle wheels don't turn unless they are on the track, especaly sence the last small one didn't even have track >:c
Im still very satisfied with my 2018 model, i like how big it is, the simple yet working side rods, the coach size and its interior i think look better than this version because the 2018 models coaches are longer, not to bad mouth this version, it looks a little more accurate to a real life hall especially in the running board, the tender looks beter and is a lot more accurate and hogsmead station is an excellent build, so if it were a little cheaper id probably pick it up but ill probably just get another 2018 model to get another coach and expand kings cross station, but ill be looking out for a sale
This looks OK. Not a harry potter fan but my 6 year old is massively into steam trains so it's on the radar. I live about 10 miles from Goathland station (hogsmeade) and it's a fair representation. Just wish lego could get the loco colour right. It should be dark red. I'm guessing it's a cost thing but even the large Hogwarts express is the wrong colour. It would look great in dark red. Still this looks decent value though for what you get.
I always assumed that Ron's sandwich was ham since that seems like the go-to children's sandwich in the UK. I googled it tho and apparently it was corned beef, at least in the first film. The more you know😅🌈🌟
i feel like they couldve maybe split the train and the station into 2 sets and then hogwarts express could be more affordable and they could do more with hogsmeade
Be interesting to see the 2 previous trains displayed alongside to see all 3 and see any improvements in looks and design apart from the UCS version. I probably won't jump and get opening day but will get at some point. My dream vision is to have a place to display my Harry Potter in a way I could have at least 2 trains on track to possibly show departure from the 2 train stations. Perhaps one day.
As someone who has absolutely no connection to the harry potter franchise and/or even to trains, somehow i find this set surprisingly charming. I dont know why but it just sparks something!
That's very interesting to take note of! LEGO's certainly doing something right then. For me, it's just the warmth of the scene and nice colors I think that drew my eye in right away, even compared to the other sets.
Nice this one can actually be connected to more train tracks at least, so kids could play with it, if not for the price... but mb grandma will help out thx for the review
I definitely get that it's a way to give people who missed out on the 2018 train and don't want to pay for the ucs train, but perhaps they could have released the station and track on its own, and combining it with the 2018 set would get the rail from King's Cross to Hogwarts station. Just a thought though
@@CheeseyStudios I have both the 2018 and 2023 hogwarts express. I'm a train fan so I don't mind having both. This and the battle of hogwarts were the sets I wanted for this wave
One reason why i want a harry potter train is to recreate the mugen train scene from demon slayer and the harry potter trains looks kinda like them, but the interior on the ucs one is a bit lacking anyways so this one might be the better option for me, what would you think?
I really dig this set. Even the dinky passenger cars are nice lmao Also, save for no side rods on the wheels, this might be the most accurate minifig-scale steam locomotive ever (compared to the original Olton Hall/Hogwarts Castle locomotive). Right on, Lego.
after playing hogwarts legacy i brought down my old hogwarts castle and now i want to build a new one with the new modules. the new sets are a lot better than the old 4842
@@CheeseyStudios yeah, i remember getting them as a little kid for christmas. unfortunately, the reddish brown pieces didn’t feel like having charm and splintered and broke but that’s expected of those pieces i guess
Hello Cheesey, I have a question. If I go to the LEGO Convention and I see u there could I take a pic with u? Also that set looks amazing and I can’t wait to get Hagrid!!!!!
My favorite is still the 2018 set, but you’d review is making me rethink skipping this set… I love the idea of getting Lee Jordan and the new printed pieces. I might split the set with my nephew who is also collecting HP Lego.
Yeah, I suppose, but I'd still rather get them with short legs than bendable mid or long legs. Would have been interesting if they included headlight bricks for them to sit with like Rivendell!
Honestly the train looks kind of lazy, Missing Side rods, Wrong shade of red, funnel showing the studs on top, The tender is okay, The coaches are Short when they should be long. And not a complete circle of track. Everything else is good.
Tbh I’d probably just take pieces from this and add it to my upgraded 2018. It’s a really great set, but I’ve spent to much time on the 2018 mods. And mine looks better.
I never understood why lego always only does half-trains, even in city. This time at least it's two cars. But we all know it should be at lest three for a complete set
This one is the best. Not as impressive as the ridiculously large one, but much more playable and enjoyable. Furthermore, it is three times more affordable - more will be able (and willing) to buy it. Hope I can gather the money.
I think the engine and tender look better thane the Hogwarts we got before the UCS, but the carriages, even tho we get 2, I think they are a bit of a downgrade from the Hogwarts before the UCS. I think that Lego should have made 1 large carriage l, similar to the UCS carriage but in the same scale as this train...
No!way that’s A FAKE LEGO HOGWARTS EXPRESS HEARD ME ITS BUILT BY A DIFFERENT COMPANY THEY PUT THE LEGO LOGO TO SAY THAT THEY ARE THE REAL LEGO COMPANY BUY THE LEGO HOGWARTS!!!!OK!!!
@@CheeseyStudios sorry I thought it was made by a different company I saw a video and it said smyths toys but the are selling it to for 10000 dollars sorry LEGO frogive me please
Price wise and quality wise, there's no reason to buy this objectively worse looking locomotive. I hate this trend of prices jumping up not just due to inflation but also as a means to test the waters and see what fans will pay for. Vote with your wallets. Don't buy this. Lego knows they sold this one higher than it ought to be. When the better one exists for 80 bucks, there's no excuse to buy this 130 parts pack. All it does is signal to Lego that fans are okay being ripped off.
Ugly and expensive. The 75955 was more detailed and less expensive. The station is very minimalist. I dont understand why they choose grey roofs and why the wagons are differents?
@@adrianprepelita8683 I just watch the extract of the 2nd film to confirm what you say. It seem to be maybe dark grey and the red is clearly a dark red. I continue to think that Lego don't use the good shade.
