They’re really not. The fact that they’re trying to express support for the group that promotes the behaviour which had her and thousands of others harassed and attacked over a video game is proof that these two are dumbasses. People suck and these two are apart of that.
It’s not really getting them down per se, it getting them a significantly smaller paycheck and audience, and even being falsely accused of things never even associated with the game, that’s what sucks, because they are getting accused of defending pedophiles because they played a video game based on one of the biggest franchises in the world, just because the author of it is a piece of shit doesn’t mean the millions that still bought that game are. Most people bought it because they wanted to show these boycotters they didn’t give 2 shits about the background of a person, they just want to play a genuinely fun game. I’ve played it a ton. Every so often it helps to remind myself that the people screaming on behalf of a group don't actually represent that group. For the most part they just want a fight and to pretend they have more support than they actually do. That's true regardless of what group it is, and the real majority is reasonable people quietly in the back wanting the fighters to shut up.

I'm a trans woman. I hate rowling as much as anyone else, but all the harrassment was ridiculous, and paints a really bad picture of the trans community. People are free to play the game, you guys did nothing wrong, and i really appreciate you making this video. I would also like to mention that most of the people doing the harrassment are not actually trans, just misguided people who think they are being "allies" by bullying people online for playing a video game.
I wouldn't necessarily say, that this behavior reflects on the trans-community itself as much as online progrssives. Sadly to the anti-trans crowd that's a distinction without a difference (though for them there is also no difference between communism and the trans-community). In my opinion the best handling of content like this would be similar to how progressive subreddits handle Pebbleyeet: Refusing to use the actual name, and consistent and outward reminders, why you shouldn't support the artist(s) in any way. (I'm not saying to pirate the wizard game. Not for legal reasons, but because I haven't heard anybody say anything good about the gameplay)

In fact your content was a great comfort to me when I was going through the most difficult time in my life. When I was beginning to realize I’m not a man. A time when everything I have believed my whole life, being raised in the southern baptist church, was being challenged by me. I was in the middle of an internal war against the oppressive religious indoctrination I had and my true self. Your content was an anchor and a comfort and it provided a measure of normalcy to my life when I really needed it. You two are among the best people there are. So, even if there are some vocal people that chose to make baseless and untrue accusations, just know that I appreciate all that you’ve done for my life!

I understand that some people would be sensitive about hogwart legacy, I understand that they want to boycott the game and not finance J K Rowling's ideas, I understand that they voice their concerns and their opinion respectfully. What I don't understand, is that people who are supposed to promote tolerance of personal choices and identity become so aggressive in trying to impose their vision to others and display obviously intolerant and even violent behaviors. It is very sad that it is coming to this end.

I'm fine with calling them out on their bullshit. They sit there and whine and cry about "anti-semitism" and "transphobia" and then in the same breath still go about saying that other people should be labeled those things because they are "white people" and that since they are Jews (or at least one of them is) they shouldn't be in the cross fire because "omg I'm an ally!" Saddened, disturbed, and disappointed I understand. I'd say it's pretty far from shocking though. Oh wow. I hope you two are ok. Over in Germany one of my long time favorite creators - Gronkh - talked about potentially playing the game on stream and that he was not really sure about whether he should do that. He asked the chat. Eventually they got to the conclusion, that Harry Potter for many is childhood, memories and so much more than the person behind it, so they did not want to miss the game entirely. This was backed up by people who have been part of Gronkh's community for years and are known to be trans. The stream during which the game would have been played would have acted as some sort of donation marathon, collecting for trans rights groups. A few days after a clip of Gronkh stating that he Rowling is completely irrelevant to him was put on twitter. The following dicussions brought Gronkh - and Hogwarts Legacy - to the front pages of the largest German media outlets, giving both more publicity than they would have had otherwise, making everyone involved unhappy. The stream with Hogwarts Legacy did not happen, with the charity thingy being put on wait but promised to follow at some point, with other games. Gronkh's first stream after this whole explosion on Twitter was extraordinary, with him going into what had happened, what the plan was and what it has changed into. Viewer numbers were double the usual and many popular streamers were supporting him, some gifting hundreds of subs. It really sucks that two stories which start out so similar could take such drastically different turns. Again, hope you're doing fine!
The crazy thing about the controversy surrounding this game is how little people seem to care about what many game studios have been guilty of. From loot boxes preying on gambling addiction to studio heads using their money and position of power to act on their misogyny and the perhaps lesser crime on an individual basis, but far more widespread culture of time crunch causing many developers to give up on what they thought was their dream job. The power of celebrity is pretty astounding. To the point at the beginning of the video, almost every dollar you spend goes toward a powerful few people who influence the world in outsized ways, generally for their own benefit. I'm not into conspiracy theories but there's something of a hidden corporation that has their hands on almost everything commercial (and a lot more). The sad part about what's gone on with hogwarts legacy to me, is that the fight against this has been inflicted on the wrong people. So often, that's how it goes. It's like yelling at the customer service rep for policies made by higher ups while the rep is just trying to do their job to provide for their family.

And it's been amazing to see you guys grow so much and make great, funny wholesome content about video games. You two have been so relatable in my own life with my 'then' girlfriend (now wife) who was completely lost with everything I played and showed her, haha! So it extremely disheartening to see this kind of treatment to some of the nicest people I've seen on this platform. Those who stay silent to injustice are complicit in it. I'll watch them even more often now. They already put good content and I like when they fight back like this instead of going with the flow (like with cyberpunk). If anything they should be proud of this type of video raising awareness.

It's funny that you go through something like this and you still don't realize. You will never be good enough for these people and they will always find a moral to exclude you on, it's just to feel better about themselves because they sit around all day.
They're not remotely comparable situations. GFR streaming the game while donating to Trevor Project sounds okay... until you think, "they could also be streaming any other game while running the charity to take a stand." Like, okay YOU got it for free, but what about one of your regular viewers watching you play and thinking "This looks great, I'm going to buy it right now." That's literally why they sent you the free copy! I'd honestly be okay with them playing it off camera and then making a serious, analytical video about their thoughts afterwards, but livestreaming it during the launch period is just marketing for it. They know this, they worked in marketing. Getting all boo hoo about "Why are people mad we're doing marketing work for this hateful product, we're one of the good ones so all the stuff we do IS good!" is BALONEY.

Okay calm down. I’m not a Twitter user, not a Harry Potter fan, and I’m not trans but I still knew about all this JK Rowling drama. I’m not saying these two deserved to be bullied, but I will say they’re pretty stupid for wading into a controversial sphere and expecting no backlash. Also, not knowing about the controversy is also stupid and ignorant when it’s your job to know, so that excuse won’t fly either.
Honestly, I'm really unsure as to why the subreddit live stream fails (LSF) has not been considered a hate group and removed from Reddit entirely themselves. Holy shit are those legitimately some of the most toxic terrible people on the entirety of the internet. I'm really sorry that you guys had to experience that level of internet toxicity. Everyone needs to understand this kind of unwarranted internet toxicity is what drives persons to considering suicide and that's terrible that I even know that to be a proven fact. Let's hope it never happens again. The only thing I learned from watching this entire situation play out in real time is that every single person who posted a disparaging comment on the conduct or the character of the both of you need to legitimately touch some grass and go outside. Thank you for expounding on the situation and addressing it in the nature that you did because the entirety of the internet needs to be better in a situation like this moving forward and that's exactly what you pushed for. I don't really like this response. You just proved what the harassers did worked, they won and they can do this again cause it works. At the end of the day your audience doesn't care about this stuff, they care about your content. And this video doesn't give your your audience what they want, which is your reviews. Personally I disagree with your opinion that Hogwarts Legacy is aggressively mediocre. That would be Forspoken. I think this is the best Harry potter game ever made and it's good. Not game of the year but good and I would've liked to hear your thoughts on the overall game.
Yeah this vid quite literally gave the harassers what they wanted. Not only is she not fully reviewing the game or playing it, she called it anti-semitic and mediocre despite saying she wasn't going to review it. All this does is spit on the faces of those who always had her back while giving a bone to hopefully appease those who yelled at them.

That is what was actually missing from this video. Nuance. They basically repeated what the people who bullied them are saying, everything in this video is lopsided as an apology to trans activists boycotting the game. But, what about the game? All they say is that it's mediocre. But what is? The environments? The soundtrack? The voice acting? They surrendered to the bullies and lost the essence of what the channel is. Very disrespectful towards the developers who poured their heart to make this game. Towards this channel's viewers. Towards people who stumble upon this review to know about the game from an Honest content creator. If you want a real take, with good comedy and actual nuance, check Dunkey's review. All they had to do was ban and ignore the trolls. This video is a white flag, they just surrendered. And, in the future, they will agaun be swayed by whoever thinks what they are doing doesn't align with their ethics/morals.
@@yummykebab6711 upset? Not really. Disappointed more like. They gave in to the people who trolled and bullied them. They did exactly what the mob wanted them to do. Now they know they have power over them. They can be easily swayed. All they had to do was block and ban the harrassers and do what they have always done, review the game with some funny memes here and there. If they had ethical/moral problems, they shouldn't have made any content to begin with. This stance they are taking is not a sincere one they believe in, but a reaction to the hate they received. It's a surrender flag. And it will happen again.
