Quick heads up for anyone there now is a way to switch modes on the Gimbal itself. A) Press & hold down the shutter button B) Then press the power button... 1 Time for Pan/Tilt Follow 2 Times for Follow 3 Times for All Lock 4 Times for POV)
This is not the best gimbal as I found defect in manual locks and the zoom is jerky in the two units received so far from Amazon. May be in India the sellers are dumping the rejected pieces from China.
Those locks are smart, necessary infact. Because till now the few Gimbals I have used (and one I am using), using phone in it is impossibly hard for Photography. And I am someone who switch between video and photos. My two photowalks ruined because of that. So good to see those locks in placed and hopefully will not cause the same troubles.
A great review! Thank you for explaining all of its features. I've watched other videos with this same gimbal but they didn't explain it the way you did. Gonna watch your other videos and reviews. 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I'm in the process of creating film projects now, so its important to have the right equipment. (always)
Your videos are always so simple and easy to understand by novices like me. People like me say "keep it up" . Although i am completely against Apple devices and devices made for the Apple ecosystem and will probably never use one.
Thanks for a great review. I have this gimbal and the Osmo 3. What I like about this one is the ease of use, the simplicity in operation. What I wish it had was 24 frames a second in the video, selection of all the lenses on my Iphone 11 pro max and better exposure control. Hopefully they will upgrade the firmware. But I just throw this in my moment phone sling bag with the camera, lenses, etc.
Hmmm... looks like wishes and regrets? I have 3 iPhones, all purchased for video production. Will an iPhone 11 PRO MAX be limited with this device? (and what is the fascination with 24fps?) I shoot in 4K
I just got the Osmo 3 this week and your videos have been extremely helpful. When doing a drone or crane shot move, was is the best shooting mode? And how to control or anticipate the view from start to finish? Thank you again for your work.
Thank you very much for your support and thank you very much for your suggestions. Many answers can be found through all my videos... Enjoy your on your gimbal
Sorry for asking as i'm new to the field: - I've heard u talking just about gimbals' own apps. Do u mean that these gadgets don't work with the phone's own video/photo app? Not really interested to learn new apps each time I buy a new gimbal... Sort of... Thx for answering. Great video BTW!
"It's like the tease, I like that you can see inside the cover. It makes you wanna rip it apart, get to it and try it out" - I see what you did there. :P
Hey Zdenka, I love your content! It's really cool that you mentioned all the locking mechanisms that lots of people arent and also the fact that can be used as a self-stick. You know a lot about gimbals, and I kinda have a doubt. When you're walking around and you're done filming for now, is it okay to leave the phone on the gimbal, turn it off and stay in your hand dangling around on the side of your body or this can affect the motors? Because of the fact that you can lock all motors on iSteady X, it makes sense to me since can be used as a selfie stick, which will be less harmful to the gimbal to be dangling. What do you think? Or all gimbals are fine to do that? And also what's your take on motion timelapse on a gimbal so light, especially if it's windy?
Thank you very much for your support. I think they build the gimbals so it can handle stuff like that. When it comes to light wind no problem but I would try that in lots of wind with any gimbal
Wonderful production, presentation and content. You really go above and beyond. How does the motor do when you have an external lens attached? Is the motor more powerful at the Osmo Mobile 3 and equal to the q2?
Very informative as always ... A quick pointer ... The pan tilt and other modes in the gimbal can be managed with a combination of taps on the power and the shutter key.. not super intuitive but it is there 😁... BTW.. please keep up the good work.. I continue to learn a fair few things from your logs.
Hello! Can switching between the gimbal pan modes be done without using the app? Or does this only work when used with the Hohem app opened? Thank you!
Hey Zdenka! I just bought this gimbal and apparently it was given a lot of firmware updates! On my S20 FE ultra wide angle works inside their camera app (quite tricky, not so comfortable to switch between Ultra and wide lens and also tele is not available), 24fps works (no 60fps unfortunately), Pro/Manual settings of ISO, shutter and white balance are better placed.
It’s a good deal for the price.... I’ve still got the DJI Osmo Mobile 1. I am a little concerned about that phone holder... looks a bit cheap to me.....
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The holder is actually way better then DJI... I dropped a phone from DJI recently. This holds... really strong 😊🎥🎬📸
This is a HUGE plus - after paying $2,250. for my loaded iPhone 11 PRO Max and complete noob to gimbals, the LAST thing I want to see is that device hitting the concrete!!!!! Better grip is best. I checked the weight; phone is 226 grams to this rating of 280. Good news!
Love this review Zdenka :) I was confused on which Gimbal to buy and your video cleared it all. Right away ordered from Amazon. Thanks! and yeah I subscribed too. Have a good day! love from India :)
Hey Zdenka! Interesting review that makes me buy another gimbal. I have filmed a lot with my smartphone but have had a lot of problems with wind noise when filming outdoors. Today I got home a Röde VideoMic Me and it turned out very well despite strong winds. Unfortunately, the mic does not fit when it is on the camera in my Vimble 2S gimble so I have to take a deep breath and order a Hohem iSteady X. I think you should try a good external mic when filming outdoors with Smartphones.
Something I find lacking in gimball analisys is if the holding mechanism interferes with the power button of the phone. Something you could consider in future analysis
Thank you very much Zdenka Darula and great job! Congratulations! I would like to ask you something if possible: with the latest app updates can I finally have access to the ultra wide angle lens of my smartphone? If this is not possible, did you find it difficult to film ultra wide angle through your phone while staying connected to the gimbal? Works well? Thank you so much for your eventual answer!
AGAIN, Yes - absolutely and this weekend plz. Heatwave is over and cannot order through your affiliate links UNTIL you make that video and make a ruling on this product under iPhone.
Zdenka hi The gimbal is perfect charge with 100% charge. The question is: if i dont use it during 15 days it will discharge or the charge will maintance 100%
Hm.... I think you commented throughout the video as some of the issues you listed are not right.... yes to shutter speed and yes to iso.... 😊🎥🎬📸 not the same like Osmo 3 but better in fact when it comes to Android
Very well explained and a detailed vdo on the gimble operation. Being a new RU-vidr this is extremely helpful to me.. Thanks for sharing. Have you made such review for Dji osmo 3? Coz I believe that's the one which has been most popular among all brands
Hi Zdenka. Thank you for a brilliant insight into this gimbal. As a first time gimbal user I am about to order the steady X based on your review. I reckon I can experiment as a a newby for not too much money. Oen question: in the video you mentioned that it is not possible to lock exposure. Is this not a real problem? I noticed in one of your other videos you stated that if exposure is not locked "things can look a little colourful". Is this a big deal or should I just get on with it and experiment with the iSteady? Thanks & Regards Michael
I heard that they are about to come out with new app so it should be all taken care of. I would send them quick email and ask when the new app will be out. 🎥📸🎬😊
Hi Zdenka, what's the differences between the Hohem isteady x and the isteady mobile plus? Love your videos and have learned a lot from you. Keep them coming. Stay safe. Sky 🇮🇲
Zdenka, is it compatible with iPhone 12 Pro? I use a GH5, but I am thinking of using an iphone for occasional gimbal shots. I'm a music biz photographer for 4 decades, now also doing videos and live streaming. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
Hi Zdenka, How the heck are you? Because of your awesome review of the dji Osmo 3 I bought it. Do you think this gimbal compares or is the dji still the better gimbal.?
How am I doing? All right a bit frustrated at what is going on in the world these days but living my normal life. I will be comparing those 2 gimbals soon. I think DJI might be better but they are very close... it depends if you have Android or Apple . Many greetings back to you 😊🎥🎥📸
I just purchased the Hohem ISteady and found your video useful and easy to follow. My question why would I need to 24 Frame video… or need to adjust any speed. How does that add to or take away from my picture quality? Thank you;
Please look up basic filmmaking … how to film in different speeds …. And what different frame rates mean… for example this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bx1V6PqJZso.html
Very good video. What's the difference with the X2? It looks the same for me. Can you charge the phone with it? If it can charge the phone, then I will go for it since it's half price compared with the X2.
10:24 is what I was here for. Looking at the way the gimbal arms are designed, I was skeptical about the advertised 270 degrees tilt on the Hohem website. And my doubt was right. It has a very very limited tilt. And also has very inefficiently set up buttons which cannot be used to change modes.
I love that it fits in a hand bag. I love that it stands on it's own on the table too. I have a question: My phone is without any apps (I keep my phone Internet-free but I sometimes use it to film extra shots), can this be used without the app? And just use my own phone setting for stills and videos?
Hi. Apologies for my ignorance. I heard you say native camera app in the vodeo but I didn't know if that just meant what my phone does already or if that has to be with a downloaded app. Thank you. I'm learning. Been watching more M50 videos today as well. Happy Weekend and thank you. - Ivy
Great review Zdenka well explained.....I have Hohem isteady pro 2 for my Gopro's and it a brilliant piece of kit and use DJI Osmo mobile 3 for my phone.......stay safe.....thanks for sharing
Great vídeo ! Do you actually get to make cinemátic vídeo with this gimbal since it's not compatible with filmic pro? Or You Think it's more for a personal use like quick staff Instagram etc
I think this is more for beginners although this is the only gimbal which I can film with using wide angle lens without actually seeing the motor and the shot and I do have a iPhone 11 Pro. 😊🎬📸🎥
Hi Zdenka! Thank you for this review! I own a DJI OM3 already (which is currently being repaired) so I thought about getting the hohem isteady as a secondary device. Would you recommend adding this to my gear list?
Oh! And also, can I use this with my Saramonic wireless mic system? I have the transmitterthat attaches to iPhone 11 (not the larger transmitter). Would the weight or functionality work?
thanks for this video ... this help me decide to buy hohem iSteady x.... i also watched your Gymbal comparison videos .. but this one is exactly what im looking for in a gymbal .. cheap, light, pocket sized. .. and yeah i subscribed.
Any information about how the gimbal responds when you attach an external lens? How is the rebalancing? You covered the issue in the moza mx video but not here I believe
My Xenvo wide angle lens exceeded the weight limit and I could not use it ☹️ it would not balance properly.....but I ordered a much lighter lens and hopefully that one works better 🤷🏻♂️
Hi Zdenka, Loving your advice and reviews. I think I told you I bought this steadycam. Now I bought the Ulanzi anamorphic. Do you have any recommendations for a counterbalance weight? I am thinking of another lens mount to put on the other side of the phone as I cannot see any other system for this gimble.
Need a decision. The store was OUT OF STOCK on the DJI Mobile 3 YESTERDAY as I walked in on their reopening day. Is your video a sign I should consider this as a viable choice vs DJI? Comparison of feature by feature will help me make choice.
Cannot wait - ordered the Højen yesterday and will buy the OSMO M3 once the price drops in response to the market’s rebound from C-19. I like the WHITE as one of my iPhones IS white. This gimbal is so light and I believe more of a McConsumer model whereas the purchase of BOTH is completely warranted if you intend to do more than touristy beach shots. DJI3 is no doubt required at the PRO level; +capabilities+
Hi, in your comparison video of the app of 6 gimbals, you have put Hohem isteady x last for android. However, here in the comment, I saw you mentioned, Hohem supports android better than DJI or Zhiyun smooth x. How good is this unit based on your usage with Android? I am planning to use it with Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Thank you for all the comprehensive videos.
This video is quite old. The app is very basic but I heard they were coming out with a new app. When it comes to using the gimbal it is very easy I will see easier than DJI. 😊📸🎥🎬
Hi there. Thanks for this informative video. You just got a new subs. I just wanna know which one is better using with iphone 12. The Hohem Isteady X or DJI OM3? Thanks for your answer. Appreciate it.
I bought this and was disappointed, it has many features but wouldn’t hold its position on the subject you wanted to pan around - always having to bump the position with the controls to bring the subject back to centre frame. I gave up in the end and returned it.
Hi Zdenka! I'm choosing between this and the osmo 3. I can get the osmo 3 combo with the tripod etc for about 115 usd The I smooth x for about 57usd. Ill have to get the isteady x from abroad tho so the warranty is a bit of a question. Which would you suggest between the two? I'm just an amateur phone video shooter using it for some cooking videos and some b rolls on a p20 pro. Thanks!
