The 2 x on the bottom and top of truss bottom cord aren't doing what you think they are doing .They are only 1-1/2 thick for shit sake. Should have put them on the sides and nailed the shit out if them and then left them as a permanent addition of strength
Exactly my thoughts. The strength of the 2x8 is way more when the 8 in part is vertical. Obviously it worked but if he wanted to get the most strength for what was added he should do that.
