For any "heavier" runners out there wondering if the noosa 14 will work for them. YES! I'm 6'2 and weigh 217lbs and the Noosa 14 is a fantastic shoe. Perfect amount of bounce and energy return. I don't feel like I sink into the shoe with every step. 👍
QD: Bright color ways for both road and trail running shoes. Life is too short to skip opportunities for extra fun. I also like the idea of being more visible to cars when I'm commuting through town to trail. Can't wait to pick up a pair of Noosa 14s! Thanks for the glowing review buddy!
I have put nearly 900km on the Noosa tri 13 so far and I can't wait for the 14 to finally get released in Australia. I do every run and triathlon in that shoe and it has never failed me, it even got me to ditch my Nike Pegasus Turbos for races.
QD- I definitely like the look of the bright colorways, but I prefer to wear the blacks and the grays. Running battle I'm looking forward to this year is the Hoka Mach 5 vs the Asics Novablast 3! That's going to be a good one!
Have been running in the noosa 13 for like 400 miles, great shoe.. love the rocker and the bounce … and the colorwave. I just got the noosa 14 last night and can’t wait to get some miles in it.
QoD - Definitely bright colourway! The Noosa Tri 13 colourway looks awesome! The Mach 5 looks pale in comparison... IMO. Bright colourway shoes make me wanna put them on and run 🏃♂️
This is why (amongst many other reasons) i check in daily. You engage with your community of followers and actually listen. Bravo. Seth you are truly one of the great ones. Thank you. All the best in your continued recovery!
The two shoes are very similar in profile. When you look at them side by side in the thumbnail of the video, the almost look like the same shoe in different couloirs - heelflare, rocker, a gentle bucket-seat for the heel.
I have 200km in the Noosa Tri 14. I love them for track/intervals work and any runs under 20km no matter the pace. What I really dislike about them is the texture of the laces which makes them unlace randomly if they're not tight enough, but that's easy to fix. QD: Bright colorways... actually bought a women's version of the Noosa Tri 14...
I love my Tri Noosa 14’s so far! They have been great for a long easy day and preform awesome on a tempo day, very versatile shoe in the rotation. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to try the Mach 5 but I might have to give it a chance. But Like you said ASICS is on to something and I’m counting down the days to the release of the Novablast 3!
QD: BOTH - I Have Black & White Running Shoes For My Days at the Gym. I Wear Vibrant ColorWays Outside to Be Seen by Motorists, Bicyclists, and (of Course) Other Runners
Seth! I am a triathlete and I love running. Your RU-vid channel is always fun to watch, you only put out interesting content that is very positive! You are someone that keeps me very interested in running! From a big fan in Germany!
I have the 14 and it is tough as nails. With 150 miles of hot weather running the noosa is still cranking along, just now showing some wear. I’ve tried many hoka’s with the Mach 4 being the most recent and I’m off of them. They just don’t hold up, rarely ever getting more than 200 miles on a pair. The 4’s have 175 miles and they have been worn smooth.
Same here, loved the Mach 4 a lot, but despite being a similar lightweight runner as Seth and striking forefoot to midfoot, they also start feeling dead/flat at the 200 mile mark 🙄
@@fantaflesdopke I am actually relieved to read both of you guys’ comments coz I owned both tbe Tri 13 and the Mach 5, REALLY expecting the Mach 5 to last close to what my Tri 13 lasted.. and it didn’t even come close… I was SO disappointed… I got that same sensation, that the Mach suddenly felt dead. I ended up on a trail with the Mach 5 and figured that on the trail it felt half fresh 😂. So that softened the bitterness with its durability a bit. I can still wear it on the trails 🙏🏻 but if it’s a slightly more technical trail it doesn’t work (which is fair, it isn’t a trail shoe)
Ran in the Tri 13 and the Mach 4 last year. I thought the Tri 13 was the better "TWEENER" shoe. The Mach 4 was actually a little too soft for me personally on faster days. The Tri 13 really was the swiss army shoe. It went fast, it went long (took it on a 24 mile long run) and it was just soft enough to be forgiving on the everyday miles. Plus it lasted me 450 miles while the Mach 4 broke down after 200 miles and I couldn't take it past 300.
I bought the Noosa Tri 14 a few days ago. I moved from running to triathlon last year. As soon as I saw your review, I realised I had to have this shoe! When you reviewed the Asics Glideride 1 and were super happy about it, I bought it and enjoyed it so much that I bought it again two times after that and ran my marathon on it. The Noosa Tri 14s came in yesterday and I completely agree again: they feel GREAT! And as a triathlete, I especially appreciate that they come with an extra pair of (elastic) laces!
QD: Most of the time I’ll go for vibrant colorways, but the Black/Pure Silver version of the Noosa Tri 14 looks mighty cool 😎 Kind of urban army camo, but with a couple of palm trees thrown in the mix 😉 As far as the shoe itself goes, a well deserved winner of this battle!
QD: I like subdued color ways so I can match them more easily with my daily wardrobe. It's nice to extend the life of my shoe after I've already put 300-500 miles on them, reusing them as much as possible before creating more waste. It's also easier on my feet/legs to walk around in old running shoes if I have to stand/walk a lot during the day.
I bought 2 pairs of Mach 5's just because durability might be an issue. Otherwise, I love this shoe. Put them on.... and thought: "the nicest heel counter I've ever felt". I vote for the colorway Noosa Tri 14. Definitely will get these, too. Thanks, Seth Great review. Spot on.
@@Don-Coyote-De-Transylvania what is beep test..? All I would say: Heel landing is deep and soft. Roll is pronounced. At the front, there's just enough cush to keep you from the pavement. They make you work. Exactly what I want😄
@@steveflor9942 Beep test is a kind of running test where you have to run between two points of 20 m distance. At the beginning is easy, but with every minute time between beeps decrease and you have to run faster and faster. Basically you run 20 m and when you hear a beep sound you turn and run back and so on until you gave up lool.
Thank you for the awesome review! This is the first time I heard about Noosa Tri series. I am looking forward to see your comparision video about Hoka Mach 5 vs. ASICS Novablast 2 or 3.
I have both the 13 & 14. Only a few runs into the noosa tri 14 but have around 500 miles on the 13. Training for my first duathlon. Love these shoes. I use the bungee strings easy on and off.
An interesting observation, I was at the Lake.Placid.Ironman this weekend and noticed only 1 male.and.1 female wearing what looked like the Noosa tri 14. I own a pair and love them.Maybe because they were recently released, folks did have enough miles in them for race day. For my 2021 IMLP I wore Mach 4's, love them.
Hey Seth! Tri wannabe here. Wide foot. Rotation so far this year (1080 v11😕(prefered Glycerine 18, beacon v3, 2nd paire, rincon 3) noosa you mentioned was tight last year so no go for me. Luv the show
Noosa Tri 13 are exceptional. Don’t wear them for Triathlon race day but brilliant for all my training miles up to tempo and speed. Use Saucony Endorphin Speeds for faster stuff!
:qd: just picked up a pair last night for $105.00 at Scheels in Fargo, ND. I am a huge fan of bright splashy colors. First run in them today was amazing! I always say when people comment about my blazing shoe colors….”hey this way I can’t get lost - all I have to do is look at my feet!!”. 🥴🤣
in the shoe store i had my speed 2 on one foot, and the noosa 14 on the other foot. the noosa was the only shoe in the store that could take it up with the speed 2 in this category. and i dint even had to go for a run. you can just tell from walking/hopping around a bit..
I bought a pair of the Noosa Tri 14's based on your recommendation, along with a pair of New Balance Rebel 2's and Hoka Rincon 3's. I like the 14's the best, Rebel 2's 2nd best, and Rincon 3's last.
I am a triathlete, I train in the Noosa Tri 13 but tend to race in the endorphin speed 2. However, I use the Noosa for all intervals and hill reps etc and love it. Also got loads of miles in it! Will get the 14 at some point but the 13 is still running sweet.
I bought the rivera 2 and they lasted me 80k and now I can't run in them without getting a blister on the arch of my left foot. I loved them up to that point. Now I'm considering one of these 2. The mach 5's lack of rubber concerns me as I'm in scotland so it's wet a lot and icy
QD: I tend to prefer simpler, but bright colorways, but also get a few themed (like a beer shoe or a St Patrick’s shoe or a Christmas ugly sweater shoe). But a solid neon green, or solid safety orange is a pop on the shoe. I’m not much for the patterns like tie-dye, except for the holiday shoes I like to wear for holiday 5ks where I’m not anticipating winning or PRing, and instead am there to run in the community.
QOD: For my running shoes I really enjoy bright and flashy. It kind of gives me a subconscious excitement to run I guess and adds to being more visible out on the roads. The downside is I look kind of crazy in public when I retire a running shoe and keep it for a daily casual wear😂
I definitely want to try out the noosa To see how they feel on foot. Everyone's foot and the way they run is completely different lso the only way to know is trying them all on myself
QD: I’m a triathlete and have been using Nike Turbo 1 and 2 the past three years for all my 70.3 and 140.6 races. Pace has been around 7:30 per mile for the shorter races. 8:15 per mile for the full races. Not sure what I’m using for my next race since I’m out of Turbos.
Those clips of yourself running with that mountain range landscape are epic👌 makes me want to go running myself, just bought the noose Tri 14s in the same colourway 🤌🎉
With respect to the Noosa Tri 14, I noticed it doesn't have a pull tab which is something I really like in a triathlon running shoe. Most of the triathlons I do are shorter distance ones where transition times really matter.
I’ve gone back to my Noosa for training and I love it. It feels faster and more comfortable than my hoka carbon x . maybe a better for my style of running. Over all the ASICS are more durable. My Hokas never lasted very long.
QD: GOTTA BE BRIGHT! Everything else I wear is so neutral. Plus men's clothing is just so much more boring, why not have fun with the colourways? Thats why I have always had a soft spot for Hoka as well as Saucony over the past few years!
I race in triathlons and I live in the Noosa area! BUT Nike Vaporfly for me! Admittedly I have not run in this shoe, got bad shin splints from Asics many years ago and haven't been willing to try the new world of Asics. Maybe I should but gees Nike have made it hard to want to find out
Just picked up the noosa tri 14 for £94 and the endorphin speed 2 for £115. Gonna see which I prefer. May send one back. If they feel good I’ll keep them both. Yeehaw
i don't know how the durability of mesh uppers can hold like 350-500+ miles when all of my mesh types of running shoes got a whole on the mesh after 6-8 months on the toe box area while mostly walk than run(an old nike pegasus i had hold a year till got a hole)
Silly question ,I have the noosa tri 13,and other shoes, hoka ,brooks, but anyway mach 5 on 1 foot and noosa 14 on other to try on testing or will that hurt,I know they are close thats y I ask, thank you
Hey cool looking shoe I have the 13 and 14, the 13 is horrible on wet surface or any loose gravel but on dry it is fantastic all around the 14 I haven't tested it on wet I just ran with it 2 times so far, but nervous to try on wet or never try on sewer grate or cattle guard very slick, anyway if anyone knows if the 14 is better than 13 on wet let me know thanks
Brighter colorways are proven to make you run faster because they reflect more photons backward and propel you forward, or something. I love bright colors, but they're hardly ever available in a narrow if it's even made in that width at all. I do have a pair of women's rincon 3s in a hot pink that are currently my favorite shoe I own appearance-wise.
I am a heel striker and have heard that I should have a shoe with a larger drop. I loved the Mach 4, but the wear on the heel area was extreme. What do you recommend?
Drop relates to where you put pressure in the foot more so than where you land. Typically higher drop shoes put more pressure on the forefoot and lower drops put more pressure on the heel and Achilles. People often suggest higher drop shoes for heel strikers because they’re naturally a little softer / more cushioned in the heel, hence the success of the brooks ghost for a lot of casual runners who are more likely to strike with their heels. That being said, whether you want a little more padding is all personal preference. In terms of the added wear, that’s just a trait of the machs not having any outsole rubber, the bottom layer of rubberized eva is more subject to abrasion.
Realizing this kinda came off as me calling you a more casual runner, that’s not what I meant lol. Just pointing out a lot of casual runners heel strike (and there’s nothing wrong with heel striking either).
As in “in between” categories such as speed shoe vs easy run shoe vs racer, eg. It’s considered an positive because it implies the shoe is versatile for many use cases.
I've begun to watch this video in this very second and I believe the Hoka Mach 5 has the upper hand against the Asics Noosa Tri 14 🥰 Let me see how this battle works out🧐🤓
It’s true he puts a lot of value on weight, but how do you connect that to injury? In the case of this comparison these are well cushioned shoes and he also reviews plenty of max cushioned shoes. Modern/supercritical foams are able to provide a lot of protection without much weight. This is not the reason he’s injured.
@@richardrankin7488 I mean his training is greatly flawed, and studies show training load/capacity rather than shoes or biomechanics are much more important
