I love your review style. Very detailed and you give all you opinion. I don't like some of the review channel right now, it is so fast like they are not having a conversation with the viewer.
@@arvinsandiego2686 wow. That really means a lot to me. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do here. I picture you and me hanging out talking about running shoes and having a great time. That’s what I want with this channel. Thank you so much.
Took first trail run in shoe yesterday.... steep climbs, wiggly descents, no issues. This foam is quite flexible in fore-foot and has decent length twist.......really can let off the brakes for downhills.... no foot slop within shoe, yet comfy.... def no lace bite w that tounge... no tounge migration.... Hoka needs a Skyflow TR version - 2to3 mm lugs on those tread patches. My Mafate 4 feels like molasses compared to these units. No marshmellow suspension, but rather a fast acting characteristic
Wow that’s great to hear. Especially the bit about sharp up and down control, lockdown and confidence in the shoe. Wow. Especially also vs the mafate. Yes a trail outsole (only) could work. Possibly widen the laces (optional) and go with Skyflow tr or just “trailflow”. Sweet
The only Hoka I own is the Clifton Edge. But I frankly never understood what's bad about a shoe being "boring". In fact I think it is great if a shoe is boring and doesn't interfere with my running. Doesn't force a certain running style onto me. Does nothing unexpected. Exactly what I want in a shoe 😂.
Right on. I like the daily training category the most because well…I spend so much time there! The Skyflow is a neat Venn Diagram crossover hybrid of multiple worlds, I feel. Depending on your input, its’ output can give it back as needed. It’s really a wonderful shoe. It’s the good part of the Oreo 👍
Thaanks for this overview - review of the shoe. Lots of details. Curious about fore-foot flexibility..... I do. Most of my trail running in cush road shoes because I dont like 90% of the trail shoes out there right now
Ok. Thank you! It’s not flexing all that much laterally or lengthwise. Poppy but not sloppy. The rocker sole helps. If you have had good experiences in road shoes on the trails this might work for you. Another option that I can think to look at would be the Altra fwd wild just as an aside. Road shoe with trail outer or the HOKA challenger
I found it to feel dead compared to the Mach X and the Skyward X. It's protective, but it seems "brickish." I like the Peba in the Mach X because if feels soft, springy and faster. This would be a good walking shoe though! Your reviews are awesome.
I definitely can see that. The two foams couldn’t be more different (supercritical EVA vs Lively AF PEBA) would use Skyflow to slow and forget/walk/work/lifestyle. This is actually a good category and a shoe might wind up getting more use in general. I have a few like these where I pop them on for whatever unstructured thing I’m doing. Awesome! Question to you if you don’t mind. What about my review did you like/find helpful. I’m new here and learning so looking for feedback if you’re willing 😊 thank you have a great day
I might. I probably willl compare it to the other HOKA models but something is telling me SUPERBLAST as well. (I returned them today and am ordering a new SUPERBLAST size for review if and when they’re available)
Hey there I don’t own the 21 but the Skyflow has a supercritical EVA vs the Triumphs e TPU. Triumph drop 10mm Skyflow 5. When it comes to long runs I like forgiving high stack with a secure yet forgiving upper. This includes a wider toebox. I think these are a fair comparison. If you could buy both from a store with a good return policy and return the one you don’t want
Absolutely it makes total sense. My current SUPERBLAST fits poorly (too tight) I’m actually heading to ASICS tomorrow to order an exchange (1/2 to full size up) and then will make a review and compare the two. I appreciate it 👍 hopefully will have that posted real soon
Both fit true to size but feel different in their own strong way. Toe box more roomy skyward, midfoot better on Skyflow, heel is amazing on skyward, arch fill goes To skyward, tongue/lace combo is a tie between the to but I could lean skyward, Skyflow gets down to business quickly while skyward is a trip to the trampoline park. I haven’t used skyward for really long runs yet but wonder if all that bounce would be distracting
@@RunningDadAdventures I’m a bit below 80kg but only 167cm my fast 5km pace is about 4:40 per km whilst my cruise pace is about 5:40. I have the nb sc elite for fast runs and the nb 1080 v13 for recover but I’m after something in between that I can take for medium runs and do a bit of interval training etc on treadmill.
@@MrBrettStar ok. Yea I think you might consider the Skyflow. Has a great inbetweeny vibe going. Plus HOKA (per theory company website) will (should) take back worn shoes if need be. Only HOKA direct I saw. Hope it works well for your runs
@@RunningDadAdventures the versatility is a great point, if only it came in a less subtle colour then I could wear it for everything but if I’m going away I will be taking something much more plan that I can wear with everyday clothes
Yeaaaa I’m taking the X out of the barn (hopefully) tomorrow and will see. I think you’re right. It’s just….so much! The Skyflow feels like my (old) Clifton’s. I last had the 6 and have great memories of that shoe. The flow is working well 👍
I think that this is a pretty mediocre shoe actually. I have kept it in my rotation for easy runs, but for everything else it really leaves a lot to be desired. Or maybe it is just me.🤔
I hear ya. The shoe does have a flat affect for the most part but does come alive at certain paces and more specifically foot placement (midfoot for me) it seemed nice at easy paces and for daily runs. The outsole actually did well-really durable. Will be interesting to see what they do with the next version as for now it’s a bit of a crossover/in between shoe
