2:09 something I always loved about this anime that you don't see in many others - because of Kenshiro's ability, the villains he kills get to process that they're doomed to die before it happens. We get to see them revert into the true cowards they are before they go out with a *BOOM*. It's brutal and satisfying.
And the thing is not a lot are repentant. All most of them do is beg to not die. No regret over what they did, just a pure selfish focus on their own survival, not what got them to that point. Kenshiro must feel some comfort in that he has put away the evils of the world, especially since it was the evils of the world that, well, ended the world in the first place.
@@Supperdude9 Is it just me, or does Kenshiro go slightly (and I mean slightly, since they still, you know, DIE) easier on villains who don't beg for their lives and decide to go down fighting? Joker, Diamond, Heart, and Shin didn't get as ugly and humiliating deaths as Spade and Club.
If you think about it, if Kenshiro was even SLIGHTLY less virtuous he’d be flat out the most terrifying character in anime, because not only is he unrelentingly vicious in battle, but the deaths he dishes out are often nightmarish. The fact that he’s such an upstanding individual despite how unbelievably cruel he is to evildoers is a goddamn miracle.
Part of me wonders if there was ever any manga created that essentially did to Kenshiro what a lot of "what if Superman was less heroic" stories did to Superman, considering from what I've heard, Fist of the North Star is one of the most influential shonen series ever published in the history of manga, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume at least one story like that was written at some point.
Hokuto no Ken is a gem of an anime. I watched the entire original anime after watching this clip and I must say this anime is pure badass. If you haven't watch HNK yet you're missing out on some epic action.
@@if8754 At best it's a stalemate. Diavolo can't even touch Ken as Musou Tensei is automatic and will disintegrate him if he would go against Epitaph's prediction and try to donut him. The only way to cancel MT is to learn and use the same technique which requires him to understand human nature AKA feeling. Diavolo, being an autistic psycho to a degree, probably can't do that.
@@vaulthuntrzgaming6305 in dbz frieza blast planet namek and told goku that it will blow up in 5 minutes however it took like 4 episodes for it to blow up
Thats the issue of most anime nowadays rather than your badass anime being able to tell stories and make fights entertaining and just full of them but nowadays you get too much story that takes up whole episodes and seasons
supersonic3464 Aside that, I also think that most modern Shounen is too much Dragon Ball like in the sense that they have a more comical and "friend power" approach than a dark and serious one like HnK did. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any problem with both kind of stories (in fact, some even manage to mix both styles very well), but the first has been so over exploited that it has been getting annoying.
Also you don't see more villains like those of HnK in most modern Shounen. Hell! Even the most meaningless and weakest of them are extremely twisted bastards that you instantly hate and wish to see dead (which they receive very soon).
Why is this scene so stylized and beautiful relative to so many other episodes? I adore Hokuto No Ken- I just love the dark lines and the shadowing on the characters in this one.
Got to give the guy the villan killed at the beginning credit, he was atleast brave enough to fight for his life before being killed, even though he was clearly outmatched.
+Mudkip971 It can be a big mistake on the dragon ball franchise true, but if we look at the other side its true the time on planet namek isn't the same on earth, there is 3 suns on that planet
+Wiggu Pigeon WTF just no! Namek was no black hole and since those are the only known objects with enough mass to cause a significant time dilation we can pretty much rule this out as a reason for why DBZ was paced this poorly. Don't try to bring some pseudosientific reasoning as an excuse for an minor fail on behalve of an otherwise great show. Just accept that DBZ, like many animes has an issue when it comes to pacing. This doesn't mean that it is bad or something.
Surely krueger have nightmares with kenshiro, i can imagine that scene: "You, hideous demon who dared to fill with fear the minds of many people, now prepare youself, because i don't need claws to give righteous punishmen...ATATATATATATATATATA...WACHAAAA!!!
"Heeeeeeere's Freddy!" (Leaps at the bed, & sees a shirtless figure on it) (Gasp) "The man with seven scars on his chest! Shit, I gotta get out of here. Thankfully he's a pretty heavy sleeper so that didn't wake him." (Turns around) *_"OMAE WA MO SHINDERU"_* "NANI?!?"
@@99mrpogi Jason would slaughter him in an instand. He's already dead, he doesn't have body points anymore, he can regenerate arms and legs, his whole body and head. He's immortal, his awesome strength comes from Hell itself, gave by the devil. He's fast, and is able to Teleport faster then time itself. He can take a huge amount of damage before he struggles. Jason would win. He got his own comic-serie, and the creatures he took on is something Ken would never do or have the skill for. Everyone their own opinion, ofcourse.
0:40 i love how these two scenes collide with one another, they are so stylistically different to the point where they could belong to a different show
sigh, I guess someone has to do this... "What is out there?? You have no idea who you're dealing with! I cut through flesh, bone, metal! What can you cut through, eh??" "...Diamond." "Ohh, I love Jokes. That's a pretty good one but I heard it before." "Then perhaps you'd like another." "Perhaps...?" "Knock, knock." "Who's there?" 0:49 "The Fuck is this?!" 1:46 "The Fuck was that??" "That was my Joke. Did you like it?" "Nooo!" "What part didn't you like?" "Oh, I don't know! The part where you broke my *fucking back!!*" "No. We haven't gotten to that part yet." "What!? *OHH GOD!!*" 2:32
Zawsze mnie to rozbraja jak w tym Anime ktoś kto robił słabszym krzywdę, gdy w końcu sam przegrywa z silniejszym od siebie to błaga o litość lub szlocha jak jakiś mięczak. Hokuto no Ken wraz z Tsubasą to moje ulubione Anime lat 80.
I always love when Kenshiro hits the baddies with the insanity moves. Making someone’s skeleton jump out of their skin, their muscles break their own spine. It’s so over the top and ridiculous but so badass too haha.
Kenshiro Is like a Max level rpg player with the best gear. Playing in a world where 99% of the player base is level 1 up to 5, but they act like they are level 99 after they have found an level 10 weapon.
The internet was a new and wonderful place. Flash animation was long and memes were crafted with care and passion. Then came the dark times, before the coming of the Facebook and the Google. Now in the wasteland a lone hero still walks, surviving to punch things and make us proud!
The only anime, where main character is not speaking and just beats the shit out of a villain, and then, once THEN he say - you already dead. Not a long ass conversation like Naruto/ichigo/luffy etc. before/during/after the fight talking a lot, how he will whoop his opponents ass or something like that. Pls make a remake or remaster of this anime, like they did with jojo.
I remember seeing this episode. When I first saw this show it seemed every episode involved some evil gang members beating up the weak and then Ken would come in and make the evil ones suffer in new painful ways. This was by far the best :D
The guy was much more despicable in manga. He presents the poor schmo he's fighting with a catch-22, giving him false hope he could survive. That makes his end all the more satisfying since he goes out so lamely.
Modern anime: We will redeem the villain with the power of Friendship and Love!! While looking all cutesy while doing it!! Hokuto No Ken: I will destroy evil in the most gruesome ways my art allows and look like the ultimate badass while doing so.
