Thank you for being genuine, Tom. You are a good person. Putting yourself out there and talking on such a personal level takes a lot. Keep strong dude.

hey, i just came here from your radiohead video and i’m really glad i did, i completely understand your feelings about not feeling deserving of support from a therapist, i went through a really rough spell of depression and went to a therapist and still to this day i have this underlying feeling like a voice in the back of my head saying you don’t deserve this and it’s because you’re weaker than people who have had it worse off, the price of the therapy and the fact that my mum was paying for it at the time made the guilt far worse but in the end i’ve made it through, i still have really shitty days, weeks and sometimes even a month where i feel no energy to get out of bed but i’m doing a lot better now, i hope you do too!

Hey Tom, thank you for not being afraid to be so authentic on camera and being yourself. I have never resonated with a way someone has talked about this stuff more than you just did. It's been a long time coming but I think I'm coming to terms with the fact that I should go to therapy. I just discovered your channel but it could not have come at a better time so thank you again, Tom, and I hope you're doing well

I'm at the juncture of realizing I want to start therapy for trauma from events that happened in my childhood, but I keep making up excuses and delaying it, not really understanding why. After seeing the way you articulated your experience it makes a lot of sense for me now. So, thank you for this! P.S.: I got to your channel through your Radiohead video.

Thank you for posting this. Honesty and vulnerability of this quality in regards to the subject of trauma is entirely lacking across RU-vid. Having started trauma therapy in January of this year, it felt as though the world was punishing me for even trying to approach the traumas of my life. The trauma and the person I'd manifested to keep it hidden from the world took every step in the book to keep me out of therapy. Trauma will do whatever it can to stay hidden, but once revealed, its powers can be chipped away. The first day going in, I still fully believed that having experienced trauma marked me in a some way that ensured I wasn't deserving of anything or anyone in my life. Ten months later, I am finally beginning to unravel the webbing wall of fear and anger that has so long kept me from living. Accepting the truth of trauma is the most difficult yet relieving thing I've ever had to do, and continue to do each day. Healing the wounds of your past takes immense courage, as did posting this video. Please keep posting. Please keep talking. It only gets easier from here.

holy shit. i didn't expect in any way to reach someone like this. i'm so, SO glad that this video has had an effect on you, and equally glad that you're starting to heal your wounds. it's so strange isn't it, the fact that we convince ourselves that our trauma is nothing serious, that we don't need help, and then as soon as we start to open up the wound, it becomes painfully clear just how much work we need to do. i am a completely different person to who i was eighteen months ago, and i know that i will be a completely different person in eighteen months time. i'm sure you will be the same. thank you so much for your comment, and so much love to you

Hey Tom, just wanted to say thanks for making such an honest video about what it is to do therapy and how it can help people. Hope you’re staying safe and keeping well ✌🏻

“The child is the father of the man.” - French Proverb. Thank you sharing this, Tom. I’ve been learning more on mor, myself, how critical adverse childhood events are. And how much they affect one’s adult life and behavior. New sub here... looking forward to more great vids. Thank you again.

It sounds as if you took my own thoughts and dressed them in correct words. Thank you for being authentic and honest about these things!

beautiful video! i can relate a lot, i didn't know it was possible for me to have trauma, but turns out it shapes our personality and brains 🧠 thank you for speaking out about such personal matters and showing sincerity and vulnerability on the interwebz, we need more content that drives us to connect with others, and definitely now in such difficult times.

Big hugs to you brother. I found your channel through your epic “I’m not here” Radiohead video. Such a great job on that btw. Fellow emo kid here. I too just celebrated 18 months in therapy. Here’s to 18 more. I can relate a lot to your view of trauma. How to accept it without letting it take over your identity. That’s what I’ve struggled with. Anyhow. You took the words right out of mouth. Also, have you ever heard of Sparkle horse? Sad and beautiful world?

I recently had a revelatory year of therapy last year and find this video immensely comforting knowing it has been a shared experience. I admire your courage Tom to film such a candid and insightful piece on what is a most personal of journeys. I hope you are continuing to feel the benefits today.

This is a really valuable message to share with the world. I 100% agree. So many people keep shit inside until they either implode or worse explode.
