In this video I talk about the return to HALL H for Marvel Studios and the effect it could have on the comic book market when they go to San Diego. I have a sneaking suspicion that speculation is going to come back in a big way for the rest of the calender year after san diego. I'm starting to feel it out there in the either once again. We are also starting to see the excitement for James Gunn and the Superman movie as well.

I agree last year SDCC was really nice without all that hype and Hall H stuff. I will go hunting for a good deal on some old books but I doubt it will have anything to do with any announcements. I just don’t turn books over quickly enough to participate in any spec stuff/newer books/variants/etc.

I think the MCU is going to need more wins than just Deadpool to get people excited again. No one has forgotten the series of sub-par releases over the past few years. I'm glad Marvel took a pause on their movie making and am holding out hope they have started to right the ship. In the end people like comics because of good storytelling. If the movies aren't reflecting that, the hype train will turn into the apathy train just as quickly as it did for Star Wars.

I still maintain that the last 4 years of insanity have made a LOT, if not most collectors very battle-hardened, very quickly. I think the days of mass hysteria are gone. Collectors went for a wild ride during the pandemic, only to watch so much regression in the aftermath. It's been equal parts fun yet frustrating for many. So I think speculation will be much more tame going forward. Or at least in the short term. Not only do people generally have less money to toss around these days, but they don't want to get burned again. And they are kinda luke-warm on what's been coming out of the these franchises in the last couple of years....we're back to needing to be impressed first. Then the wallets may open wider. Or maybe I'm wrong and people will lose their shit after Hall H sweeps us off our feet....

There does indeed seem to be a resurgence of interest in the comic community, this new Deadpool will reenergize the market.

Please point me to where? Most books don’t sell and barely make it to 10 issues. The art and stories from marvel are trash. The only interest seems to be speculation to make a quick buck. Skybound is the good thing in comics at the moment.

Deadpool will succeed in spite of Iger and Disney. The rest of Marvel will be trash. Sales are down on so many titles and most don't make it past 10 issues.
