Holden Commodore SV6 VE Check Engine Warning | Check Engine Light VE Commodore Quick Fix! 

No shit this worked for me man thanks so much! After needing to jump start my 2007 Holden Commy VE SV6 all the fault displays on the dash went away but except the check engine one. Had no idea what to do or what was wrong, so I found this video. And just after the third attempt at the ignition, the check engine light / fault on the dash went away no shit! When the battery wears down and it won't let the car start up it causes all sorts of fault codes to go outta wack. So Im so thrilled. 5 big thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍

Out of curiosity, why would anyone 'dislike' this video? I can understand if someone dislikes the stability fault that the video depicts, but the video itself is just a random person asking for help and showing quite clearly the problem he is encountering.

I had an 2007 VE SV6 which was serviced regularly also, that doesn't mean that you won't have any issues with the car. Anyway the check engine light can also illuminate intermittently for emissions related error codes such as a faulty oxygen sensor etc... So sometimes you can have an error code, use the car for a couple of months without any error codes appearing and then the error code randomly occurs again. Anyway I purchased a cheap ODB2 scanner off eBay to diagnose all my cars. You just connect it to the ODB2 port in the car and it will tell you what the error code is. Then I just look up the code in my workshop manual to see how to repair it. Much cheaper than taking the car to a dealership and paying $80 just for them to connect it to their computer and tell you what fault code the car has. I have a 2008 VE 60th Anniversary Sportwagon that the engine light came on shortly after 3 year/100k warranty was up. I had the same symyptoms as the video then it just stayed on. Was first told by dealer that it was faulty sensor bank then fault cat converter then timing chain. None of which have been replaced and it's now 7 years later, the car runs fine and the light is still on.

I think I fixed the problem on Thursday night,I was looking to see how the front crankshaft seal was going on my VY SS Commodore and I was frightened to see that the right hand front corner of the oil pan was coated in oil,the check engine symbol was also still coming on ,on the instrument cluster and I noticed all around the base of the engines dipstick tube was all wet with oil - this means a leaky O ring is the cause,since that area of the engine collects dust & dirt over the years,it means when the tube is removed all of the grit tears into the Aluminium oil pan which doesn't allow any O ring to seal properly & in my case the O ring had shrunk anyway so all I did was to wipe it off,clean the dipstick tube seating area then smear a dab of silicone sealant around the O ring then reinstall the tube - so far there has been no oil leak,check engine symbol and the engine now idles smoother. As I said before, there were no codes stored on the computer & when a P0000 code (no faults detected) appears & CEL is displayed,GM recommend inspecting further which in my case I can safely say that I had crankcase gasses blowing out through the crankshaft oil seal & dipstick filler tube O ring so replacing that improved the engines performance & idle quality,people were saying my engine probably was gone but a compression test revealing the cylinder had 1200KPA in each cylinder means this engine is still healthy, I have heard of a loose petrol filler cap causing the same problem & in my case doing an external test with a gas analyser would've picked up that there was a lean condition straight away. The actual sensor faults I have had in my car is as follows :- 2012 - P0443 code - Fault in purge control valve circuit,tested by me,which in my case was an air leak between the purge control solenoid & inlet manifold 2010 - P0520 code - Engine oil pressure sensor/switch circuit malfunction,tested by Holden - replace pressure sensor 2009 - P0332 code - Rear knock sensor circuit fault,tested by Holden - replace knock sensor I noticed that the knock sensor was corroded and I believe it was caused by the motor being pressure washed (probably by me back then),I did the RTV thing around the sensor grommets but I eventually got around to doing it properly & replacing the gaskets & seals I needed to on the motor so don't pressure wash the motor - just use brake or a electrical/electronic parts cleaner to clean the motor as the engines sensors do not like being washed with water,so if your engine is old & grotty with dirt,oil & grease,give the engine a clean & find which seals and/or gaskets are leaking then replace them.

I've find the eases solution for this problem is. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 2 minutes that will resets the computer system, than reconnect back to battery.Restart and you done.All the best..

i have the same model, and the same issue, the mechanic stated that the timing chain had stretched, causing the fault, and would cost approx 2500 to replace, i have a friend who works in a holden service as a mechanic and he stated, that it is the parameters on the sensors that need to be recalibrated as they have to small of a margin for error,

wow cant say I`ve ever had any thing like that happen, I`ve had a 08 VE SV6 for 5 years done over 300,000km never missed a beat. Mind you the only cunts that ever touch my car are from Holden.

had the same problem for the stability control. clean your throttle body and MAF sensor. hope this helps..

I had this ages ago , like a yr and half all the time then it just stooped . But it has come back again . I check oil , water temp etc but fine . The traction control warning has been lit up since I bought the car 3yr ago and The brakes and handling have been fine still got warning , I ignore the crap . I have a 2006 VE / WM Statesman and believe it is to get us runnin to Holden with our wallets to empty ?

Hi, i have a 2011 VE V6 Omega which i bought new. This same warning animation has appeared several times since owning this car. Sounds crazy but i've noticed starting the car and driving out of the garage and then back in later will cause this animation to come on next time the car is started. I discovered i can prevent this by driving around the block before putting the car back in the garage!! Fault code was reset by the dealer one time, code said mis fire on number 2 cylinder?? Yes, restarting the engine can clear this most times i've found. Need to try this now as it is playing up as of today.

Same shit with my VE. All the times that it happened in my car it was from the throttle sensor. Once my mechanic erases the fault codes though, it takes a few years to come back. And today is one of those times AGAIN!!!!! 3 times in seven years is not that bad I suppose, comparing to other VE owners. My mechanic also told me that some times it could be specs of dust on the sensor that set it off or when you're about to accelerate and you hesitate it goes mental! BTW a message for all the Ford owners. I've had both a BA Ford and a VE Com. and I can honestly say that they are both beyond shit! Slap a V350 on it if you want. Still a piece of shit.....Actually, imports being the only choice might not be that bad after all....

invest in an OBD-2 scanner / code reader ......at least it gives you an idea of whats going on

We just bought the VE wagon and the first day the light came on, took it back and they said they fixed it, today it is on again, same as your video, he is doing the 5 start ups and it did not work....

I just replaced an 02 sensor because Holden only replaced one of them, when they should of replaced 2 but light still comes on why i don't know

There is no single answer as to what is causing this. All that the warning is telling is that the engine management system is detecting a problem. I also had this occur on my 2008 LPG VE Commodore. My Holden dealer plugged in a diagnostic device to analyse the faults being logged by the engine management system. It showed that I was getting sporadic misfire on 2 cylinders. There was no conclusive cause for this. They removed some carbon deposit from the inlet manifold and swapped the coil assemblies between a couple of cylinders to help isolate the problem if it re-occurs.

I had a check engine warning light in my 2008 MY09 Omega... turned out to be a faulty oil pressure sensor

could be low coolant..low oil So I topped up the levels and warning stopped. The same warning appeared when my throttle body needed replacing and this turned off stability aswell. It could be a few things.Basic things first.GOOD LUCK

My engine warning light occasionally comes up after I wash the car or drive through heavy rain. Oil, water and battery all check out OK. I'm thinking that water gets into something and sets it off. Anyone else had this experience? Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks.

I have a VZ SV 6 , a while ago it was showing up a ABS fault on the system check , the culprit , a loose battery terminal , so before you go an spend a packet of money , check small things first , as when the system goes through its self check , everything else is rosy , but the ABS system thinks , hang on there is not enough power for me , and then throws a wobbly by throwing up a warning .

Reminds me exactly why I got rid of my old ve probably has a stretched timing chain, I don't know how this car won wheels car of the year, my old vl was way better so much smoother to drive

No , I don't know what could be causing it!!!! SUM1 of Verm (Gray) thinks Holden thinks I need to buy a new car so they keep switching it on in my VY SS Commodore leaving me to press the Mode button all the time it does it,every time they drive past me in the opposite direction along Nelson Plains.When I accidentally set an SRS fault (i.e. steering wheel removed then turning the ignition to the "key on" position) the car was doing it then & Holden at Telarah said there were no other faults with the car,my hand held scan tool cannot pick up that fault that "seems" not to even exist in reality as well,I didn't see any check engine light come up in a Toyota Hilux I was driving on a volunteer basis although the SRS airbag light came on before a new battery was fitted into it.So , if I am on the dole,no one seems to want to bother employing me & a CEL symbol appears on the instrument cluster in a VY SS Commodore, telling me the car has a fault that doesn't exist then I am trying to work out whether Holden is trying to tell me if there's something wrong or wrong with me.

Oil sensor + timing chain are the main reason why this light turns on !

When this came up for me in my ve I pulled off the head on the motor and the timing chain was snapped for me so I had to pay 4 grand to get it fixed I replaced mine with cast iron and brass chains cars Is 11 years old haven't had a issue since the ve commodore have alot of problems with the chains and the sensors

I had this issue, turned out was timing chain, then 6 moths later again showing engine and stability control issue and then the zircon would just stop blowing cold air.....stress!!!

Yep..mine has been doing this for nearly a year now...gets reset, but then comes on again within a few months,, asked on holden car club, was told exhaust gasket..from 1 guy, my auto electrician said CAT COVERTER

Yes disconnecting the neg battery terminal worked for me. It was running fine. not the timing chain as the mechanic said.$2000???really...

More than likely the timing chain has been stretched.

Hey mate, I had same issue as yours before. First I had a warning for alternator and had to replace alternator. Don't know why this happen as I maintained and serviced on time. Once I replaced the alternator everything was fine until this msg. It just a few month gap between these two warnings. Not just these two some times I'm getting another warning for ABS fail and also cruise not activating some times. Once I turn off and turn back on everything is fine. It can be a system failure :(

I have a 08 Calais v6 and same thing happened to me but had near no power and it chugged and I then put foot to the floor yeah it revved and all but it seemed to have fixed the issue, my guess it was the injectors needing a flush out...

My abs fault light came on then airbag fault light. Car would start most times then just stopped. Taken to shady mechanic who can't start car says I need new starter-motor? Then asks me what else I need

This has just happened to me today. Last time it happened Holden had no idea......now when accelerating the car shudders and there is very little power.

Just had this yesterday with my 2010 VE,V Calais Sports-Wagon 6.0. Took it to my mechanic next morning and he said the comp is reading the oxy sensors are off! Not the Engine!! So he simply with 1 button fixed it. And told me i can do this with other issues from buying the same tool from here! Hope it helps you all out! mine the same. car runnig fine, took to dealer, said it was common glitch with cat converter gasses. he reset comp no drama

why ask people on RU-vid? could be anything. knock, sensor, afrs ect. if you dont have a ecu plug in take it to a mechanic for a code check. takes 1 minute and ultimately save you the price of a rebuild.

Wow my display starts with 125thou service notice as I take off the check alternator comes on then the following battery. service charge system. Battery saver mode. abs fault . Disabled traction control . Air bag fault. Safe mode. And then 2 more I can't remember before the check engine one comes on, then it's a big cross displayed with wrong answer sound effects . I see Contact dealer then it dies. 3L oil, 4L coolant mix is all its need for 3yrs past service. I guess yours is a dud mate...

I had this happen to my sv6, i just got the wiring fixed inside the steering column, apparently thats what the problem was if that helps anyone

my issue is why TF is the car smart enough to come up with a code to tell you what is wrong with it but cant just show it on the dash... i have to go out and buy a fkn scan tool

Just had my 2012 sv6 series 2 serviced, only use 98 fuel my check engine light has re appeared mechanic is telling me that the code is the omissions and I need to replace my catalytic converter and as far as I know there's two of them holy shit is this expensive
