It takes a lot of guts to say 'I need help from a professional. ' They are the experts mate and will have done a lot of HK's in their day. Good old Zippy to the rescue. Top little van
l think l got it sorted after talking to The GT Fan's Dad.... live to fight another day mate... & yes lm so glad l have Zippy as a back up.. cheers Pater..
Tried putting the old one back in and see if the same problem exists ? if it does, then I think the steering position changed ? Also, when you took the old one off, you said it was loose, but didnt tighten and try see if that fixed issue, only one way to tell .. All the best with it mate
Hello Trev. Go back to your first vid go to 14.00 an watch on woulds. You check movement of idler arm before putting the top bolt in. I think you have moved idler arm up so that’s. Why your hit starter motor. Am not good with words but hope that makes sense.
Have you checked to see if the idler arm is suited for the Chevy pwr steering setup? They may have given you one to suit non pwr steering. Just a suggestion. All the best and dont get to stressed brother it will all work out for you 💪 cheers 🤘😎🍻
Hi Trev, why did you remove the original idler arm? were the bushes shot? if you can get the workshop to replace it, use the original, maybe adjuster sleeve needs setting to correct length. Will the arm clear the starter when the car is lowered onto the ground. Hope this helps
With the wheels straight ahead check that the idler arm and pitman arm are aligned need to be symetrical maybe the idler arm needs to be flipped, I cant see so just a suggestion.
@@hippytrev7452 Trust me unbolt the mount off the body and turn the arm to the rear then bolt it back on but make sure you have enough clearance in the nut so your steering doesn't lock up when turning. The height of the sump is raised at the back to allow for clearance for the steering linkages. Have a look at your oil change video and look at the location of the linkages.
Great video, there Trev. Certainly, it is frustrating when we can't find out. What is that we have done or what to do to fix? Stay safe. Keep your knees in the breeze. Catch up with you on the next one. Hippy Bill 1987
wish i could help you but it's hard to tell what you're dealing with. i used to love these kinds of challenges when i was still able to do that kind of work.
I send my oldman this video so if he sees it hopefully he can help he did his HG Premier with the same set up so he would be the best bet to help ya sort it out cheers
that bolt with the spacer is there a lower hole for it to move down maybe ? you was lifting and pushing the thing up to get that bolt in maybe its up to high ? thats all i can think of it makes good content fixing the boat but when yah stumped yah stumped JJs to the rescue
@@hippytrev7452 take the new parts out and compare them with the old parts... And u see the issue maybe the arm is up side down... We in Europe work with the same system in design but out arms have bushings and no treath, and they love to wear our as well...I never saw this treath to treath design.
@@hippytrev7452 the offset support mate gave you is correct for your car BUT it has that early model straight support to accommodate the Ram assist. The threads, which go into the 'nut' are different on the two types. Outer threads of the 'nut' are the same.
