This 2006 Pontiac G8 / Holden Commodore has a check engine light on and a P0449 code. That means there is an open circuit on the evap vent valve solenoid. This video shows testing and replacing the valve.

Good informative video, not aure if this is the issue with my G8 but i dont hear the 4 clicks from back there anymore when i park the car and i have the P0449 code.

I have this code on my G8 GXP. I’m not looking forward to replacing! Will this cause it to be difficult to fill up gas tank? It’s taking forever at some pumps, only able to pump for a few seconds then it stops. On my suburban it was easy to replace the canister when it was doing that. Ideas?

The problem that sets this code is an electrical problem only. So just that will not cause your problem. But if the vent valve is also physically stuck closed, it will give you the symptoms that you’re experiencing. Another culprit could be a clogged charcoal canister.
