The iconic VK Commodore SS Group A was the Aussie muscle car that took on the world. In Unique Cars magazine's Top Ten Holdens, the VK comes in at number three.
People have to find something negative to say , This guy is very lucky to own one of these rings and valve stem seals is no big deal , Jealousy however is a big deal for some.
@ArkTiger4c designed IN australia, by Ed Silins and Fred James - both Aussies - and all parts from top to bottom were milled and cast in Holdens old port Melbourne engine plant.. its a Holden buddy
Beautiful mate, it's nice to see a vk that hasn't been chopped up tubbed with stupidly deep dish wheels & a ridiculously large motor sticking out the bonnet
Can't remember the last time I've seen one of these on the roads. Others I haven't seen in ages....XC Cobra. A9X Torana, Landau, R/T Charger....They've gotta be somewhere.
I haven't seen an A9X on the road since I was a kid in the 80's. Back then in Haberfield, Marrickville, Petersham, Leichhardt they were a pretty common sight. A highschool teacher of mine had an XC COBRA, blue stripes and all, drove it to school every day. Your comment brings back many memories.
I had a choice to buy a VL turbo, or source a "brock"", bought a VK group 3 after many tried to sell me a SS, with a bodykit and finally found one, with help from the HSV/HDT owners club checking the numbers and i will never sell it. Best car ive ever had!
@ the 1:07 mark rings are on their way out full stop, notice the blue smoke coming out and also the valve stem seals as well, basically a total engine rebuild with the good stuff you can buy now days and even better use racing alloys and machined parts. :) Then it would be bullet proof and go racing every day if you wanted too, but it would set you back at least 50 to 100K for all the running gear to be done and brakes as well ?
The only real VK which i believe is properly the best in australia is the one Kevin dennis has in the front window of the sunshine office and the same VK which has BROCK number plates which were borrowed by the brock family for peter brock's funeral. :)
The vk and vl went group A racing in Europe holden won the kings cup at spa with gricey and the two hdt vk commodores in 86 i think it was and Jon Harvey and Allan Moffatt won at monza in the rothmans vl brock built commodore in 87 after the bmw's were excluded for being some 50 kilos under weight not bad for a Aussie v8.
Ajv80. Brock Moffat, yes that’s rite MOFFAT after he was thrown a lifeline by brock in the Mobil vk, won the nissan Mobil 500 in New Zealand and kicked the Europeans arses.
Well mate you cant take it with you when your dead, so basically spent as much time being happy with what evera you have trade up and get a new W1 and you will even more fun, just keep on rocking through life is the only way mate ?
