Covers the Halloween and Christmas 1999 packs.
Since it looks like the DLC is gradually being ported into SADX now, I thought it'd be a good time to finish off these videos.
The Halloween DLC is officially titled "Tremble Park" and adds various halloween-themed decorations to Twinkle Park! If you like being told "Trick or Treat" about 30 times in one minute, this is the pack for you.
The Christmas DLC is similar to the 1998 version - it places a number of trees around Station Square that play a song when touched. I wouldn't recommend using this one until you beat Speed Highway with Sonic, because one of the trees prevent you from being able to pick up the ID Card you need to access that stage.
Videos regarding the 3 Launch Party packs will probably come along sometime soon.

There was so much put into Sonic Adventure that even seeing all of this stuff astounds me as to why the Dreamcast had tanked. Maybe its a hindsight thing but consumer trust after the 32X and Saturn be damned. Because seeing all of this in Sonic Adventure would've had me convinced to keep supporting SEGA in 1999. Hell you'd think in this day and age where AAA games strive for realism and immersion that Seasonal stuff like this would be more commonplace.

TheSkully343 I think issue namely boils down to the market at the time, The Dreamcast came out in a market that had been dominated by the PlayStation. The Dreamcast was just never given a fair shot

the Dreamcast was damned to fail from the start thanks to the huge hype for the PlayStation 2 and new games and series were being made for it at the time. The PS2 was helped by the fact it used DVDs and had better some better hardware (I say "some" because while it's well known PS2 had the vastly more powerful "Emotion Engine" CPU, its "Graphics Synthesizer" GPU had quite a number of disadvantages to the Dreamcast's PowerVR CLX2 GPU - this article talks about it in great detail segaretro.org/Sega_Dreamcast/Hardware_comparison#PlayStation_2 )

With a raspberry pi installed with dreampi you can buy premade kits with all the necessary cords and goodies www.dreamcastlive.net/shop.html You don't need the incredibly expensive BBA either.

You don't NEED DreamPi either. You just need a way to get the DLC onto your VMU. The most obvious way is to get the DC connected to the internet so you can download it from a website still offering the VMU downloads, which DreamPi helps with if you don't have Dialup or a BBA. The cheapest option would be to burn a copy of "Dream Explorer" which is a DC disc that includes a bunch of VMU saves on it that you can just install to a VMU. The SA1 downloads are on there, but you can only install 1 holiday at a time.

Looks like the DLC was supposed to be in the GameCube version, as the music for this is on the disc! Unfortunately, there's no way to make it play in-game (besides hacking). Other DLC made it in as well, such as the Twinkle Circuit tracks, but again, can't be reached by normal means. Guess this is yet another way in which the "DX Director's Cut" version fell short of its ambitious goals.

It would have been interesting if touching the ghosts caused you to lose one ring each time. They're trick-or-treaters, so it would make sense for Sonic to give them something when he ran by them.

It's so sad that SEGA and Sonic Team doesn't put anymore love on their games like they used to. I still enjoy Sonic games a lot despite the fact that they still can't figure out how to do a definitive 3D experience but it would sure be nice if any of the recent games had some holiday related easter eggs.

Jabura Black Knight was the last game with great effort There's actually a reason for that though Sega of Japan no longer makes Sonic after 2009, and their relations with America got worse. Takashi also became in charge of Sonic Team by then, and he just changed to only satisfy American fans. Unfortunately, the American lifestyle has changed drastically to being extremely shallow and casual, so Sonic suffered as a result

I feel like the last Sonic game that had a lot of heart put in it was Sonic Unleashed (HD). But after seeing that some critics hated it, and having better scores with safer and easier games (like Sonic colors), Sonic Team just decided to stay in the easy safe zone :/

thank you for confirming that my memory of there being pumpkin people in SADX wasn’t a fever dream. My family owned a dreamcast in 99 and my brother (6 years older than me) must have downloaded this DLC. I always remembered this.

Okay, seriously, why has NO ONE modded all this DLC into any PC release of Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut? I know I've asked this before, but I'm going to keep asking this until I get a good answer! Just someone with some knowledge say "it's too hard" or something! That's all I ask!

RarefoilB Then you should follow @pkr_sadx on twitter he's the first person to figure out how to extract data from the vmu/dlc files so far he has recreated 3 DLC as mods. He's also the author of the SADX Dreamcast Conversion Mod which restores the graphics from the dreamcast Fixes a ton of sound issues and restore many stuff missing from SADX and also adds HD icons for almost everything you should check that out too.

Super interesting! How do you get your hands on all of this DLC? Are you using the Steam port of SADX, running BetterSADX and using a mod to add this DLC, or are you using a Dreamcast emulator or something?

sonic2kk Demul DC emulator, it's the only one that's accurate to read VMU add-ons and do internet

Ah, I'd never heard of Demul. The best one I'd heard of was reicast. Demul's github repo seems dead, and it's Windows only :/ Thanks though! Maybe I'll try out this DLC one day, 17 years late xD

Was messing around with the Christmas DLC in a modded version of the DX port on pc and some of the trees played a different rendition of Dream Dreams. The Sweet Mix in Holy Night version I believe

It wasn't the most festive song for Christmas, was it? I think I preferred those cheaper sounding midis they used for the previous year as at least they were recognisable Christmas songs. Still, the trees looked a bit better.

it’d be really cool if the Steam release was updated with all the DLC. The Holiday stuff would be active during those holidays, obviously. That would be really rad. Maybe if someone does a pseudo-remake like Sonic 3 A.I.R, that could be a feature.

I'm surprised nobody talks about this but games on the Sega Dreamcast would change into more festive textures for certain Holidays! I'm not kidding! This would also happen with Ready 2 Rumble as well. Sure, it wasn't elaborate and it may be a bit lazy, but it was pretty fun to be honest. I kind of wished games today did that!

Oh, on a related note, is there any noteworthy information about the holiday costumes in SA2's multiplayer? The DC version gave the six main characters outfits for both Halloween and Christmas. These were cut from the GC version. (Likely still in SA2B's files, just unused.) Is there anything interesting there?

This is super cheaply made. But don't forget that it is something. Most developers make a game and never update it or release anything for it. These guys are good.
