Sonic Adventure DX: Review is a late prototype of SADX that was given out for reviews. Despite this, the game still has a lot of differences to the final release - with one of the bigger ones being the totally incomplete Chao system.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@@KOTEBANAROT SA2B was made before SADX so most of the chao stuff is taken from SA2B. The Shadow drawing is basically a left over texture. Also Chao can draw characters in SADX if you give them a deer
I am so glad to have found your channel. these sa1/2 videos are so interesting to me. it's good to know other people still love these games as much as I do
Dude you're doing a great job with all these SA/SA2 videos. I've watched all of your videos and it's awesome to piece together what order things were developed in those games, like the White Jungle/Green Forest object layout video. I like the captions you place in too! It inspires me to look into hacking again and finding hidden/unused stuff. Can't wait to see what you discover next!
The Egg Carrier Chao egg is also different. The final version of it is a solid black mono tone egg, where here it's black with blue on the top and pink spots on the bottom. The same egg was in the Dreamcast version, looks like they were thinking of keeping it in the DX version before they decided to change the egg color.
I'm bummed they changed that. The black egg gave you a black and red two-tone Chao in the Dreamcast version, but this was changed to a monotone black Chao in the GC version. I would have loved it if they kept it the same.
@@QueenofSilence101Since the monotone black egg is nothing special as it can be easily bought at the Black Market. Also two-tone black chao can be easily obtained in the DX version by breeding a monotone black with a two-tone chao which also makes the two-tone black chao not quite as special in DX. I don't understand why they didn't change it to something like a Jewel Onyx egg in the DX version since the only other way to obtain an Onyx egg is through the Tiny Chao Garden which is of course only possible on Gamecube and not the PC or later ports of the game but was also the most expensive Jewel egg to obtain in the Tiny Chao garden.
1:20 there also seems to be some odd distance/layer scaling with the dots above a Chao's head here, when the Chao hatches you can see the dot sometimes appear behind the Garden teleporter in the back which is really interesting.
This is really interesting, I haven't seen Chao Garden on Sonic Adventure DX in a long time, but seeing it even more bare bones is really weird. Nice Video!
It would appear that texture and lighting issues were the biggest hiccups Sonic Team had with porting the game, probably in no small part because the lighting engine was completely rewritten. It would certainly explain why Big the Cat is on the ceiling of Hedgehog Hammer!
are the sounds in the chao race just from the emulator bein a lil buggy? that happens to me sometimes when i play on dolphin. it basically goes through every sound effect and cycles through them for some reason lol.
The original race hub in SA1 (not DX) has Omochao standing beside the doorway. I dunno about DX prototypes, but it's there in every version of the Dreamcast game, including the final.
Shaddy The earliest SADX prototype the community has at the moment is SADX: Preview, which is a modified port of Sonic Adventure International. So that may be the one with Omochao, as only the new character models and a few texture edits had been made at that point.
I had a strategy guide for SADX which also had a full walkthrough and world map for chao adventure, which was useful for my old copy of SA, but useless for DX
3:29 debug mode in the genesis /CD era sonic games could manipulate the level. (like, you could put 3 springs in a row by pressing a certain button) could you do such a thing with this debug mode? example: input the amount of chao or animals desired? or does it only just tell whats on the screen? its a non interactive debug menu? sorry if this doesnt make sense, im not too keen on technicalities in video games.
Is it sad that SADX looks better than SA2? Im not a graphics snob at all, but the videos i have seen of SADX have had such vibrant textures and everything while SA2 just looks...so-so and kinda plain
Well Black Market Chao has to have a day off sometimes, you know! Family to look after, illegal stuff to import for the black market, all that kind of stuff.
Meh, the Dreamcast version of the chao system for SA1 was worse. No Black Market. No hats for your chao to wear. Very lacking in variety of colours for chao. Crappy designed gardens (especially the Egg Carrier one). Terrible breeding mechanic. Annoying hidden HP stat which you have to keep feeding chao fruits constantly to keep it up or chao will die. Can't name or view a chao's stats unless you put it in the VMU. Also their life span was way too short on Dreamcast meaning it was impossible to get a decent levelled chao for the races by simply just giving it animals and not putting it in the VMU once.
*insert clever comment relating to how today is my birthday and this video came out today and this gag is going out far too long and I'm just gonna end it here*
TheOneWhoPlays this beta is fully available to download publicly, as are various other prototype games. Just google HiddenPalace.org Of course, you'll need either a Hard-modded GameCube, a Soft-modded Wii w/ GameCube support, a Fat32 formatted USB/SD Card/HDD and/or a Datel SD ISO loader to play them, also the GameCube ISO Tool (GCIT). Edit: Apparently, the is redundant, it made Hidden Palace a link without it... Edit 2: Removed a grammar error that was a result of revising my comment before the initial posting.
I can't answer that first question, but I believe the Shadow texture is a leftover from SA2B. The Chao system was ported from that game. As to why the port for SA2 came before SADX... who knows?
After seeing the Egg Carrier garden in this prototype, my new headcanon is that the EC garden is in part of the area that was once Oil Ocean zone from Sonic 2.
