Well, up until watching this video the only items on my Christmas wish list were paper, paper and more paper(Arches pads) and a quill brush. Now I have to have that portable painter palette and an Ann Blockley book! My family will be grateful I have a list now😊. Thank you!
I love your gift videos. I particularly liked that you featured the books by Ann Blockley. My husband and I were talking about here just a couple of weeks ago. We were on a day out in the Cotswolds and were talking about the time we visited her beautiful cottage. We went to visit her husband, who my husband knew through something computer techy. She wasn’t there, but I was able to buy a few things from her studio via her husband. So as I watched you talk about her books I looked up at the two framed prints I have in my cottage. And I have a couple of her books upstairs. The thing I remember most was the absolutely idyllic cottage and setting. Lovely place.
Ha Ha.. yeah right! Gifts for others! I want all of these. Those books looked AMAZING! I do have the Portable Painter. Use it very often. Thanks Steve, & Reece! Lol. I have that grinch hat too. 🎄🙏🏻👍🥁
It was worth tuning in just to see your fancy head piece. I'm sure your Granddaughter will be snagging that along with your t-shirt which will make the perfect sleep shirt when she comes to visit. You were the first artist that I subscribed to and the artist I keep coming back to time and time again. Thanks for making such fun and informative videos.
I have the Etchr mini palate. It is great. The wells for the paint look small but they really hold a lot of paint. It’s sturdy ceramic. I love it. Good ideas!
Thank you for saving me some time. I was looking for your video that featured the watercolor bowls and had been randomly going through your videos looking. They will be my present to myself. Beauty inspires no matter where it is found. And as much as I like the big functional 3 slot bucket, it has never been beautiful. I think Rudolph suits Reese. Thanks for making my day with your outfit.
I always look forward to your gift ideas videos and this one did not disappoint. Any video that starts with you batting your eyelashes has got to be a great one.!
i have the kuretake brush pen , and love it !! it's wonderful to work with ... thanks for this video .. always cool to see different products !!! norakag, here 👍👍
So happy to see the Ann Blockley books there! I have them both and her work is just spectacular! Thanks for all your hard work, Steve, and hunting out such a great selection of gift ideas.
I picked up your M. Graham paint set and I LOVE IT! Those are the best paints ever, I am blown away by the rich buttery colors. I also highly recommend the books, they have helped me loosen up so much. She has some great video/dvds too but you have to hunt a bit to find them. Thank you for the big smiles with your outfit, you are the best! (Don’t tell Reese)
Thank you Steve for this wonderful video.and all of the amazing tutorials you write, produce and illustrate. Wishing you, and yours, a Blessed Christmas.
Well done sir, so many ideas so little time to buy them all! But a great ideas for gift giving lists for family members who just want ideas for the artists in their lives! Sweet plug for the M.Graham paint set too! I have always wanted a portable painters palette, I just don’t do much Plein air anymore! You have created a wonderful list for any viewers those who are regulars and the ones just stopping bye! Happy Christmas Steve!
I really liked the little portable pallet with attached small water bins. Also... you showed the Hahnemuhle toner watercolor sketch book and in one of larger sketch books, you showed a large tree, with clumps of painted patches of leaves. Then the next page was this awesome large-barked tree sort of twisted a tad. Awesome tree. I loved painting trees with character in oils. There is this gnarled, twisted tree I passed on a very busy road that I would love to paint in watercolor. Trees have so much character. I've painted in oils using M. Graham's paints when I painted landscapes. You have given some great ideas to give to my daughter. I am a hard person to buy for but not in the art department. Thanks for these suggestions. And again, fantastic trees you painted! Happy Thanksgiving.
Okay, I'm agreeing with so many of your other viewers about this video. I want everything ❗❗ I already purchased a number of the micro portable palettes this past summer and also sets of Daniel Smith's six color watercolor essentials (I love having the warm and cool primary choices for great mixing) as parts of mini plein air kits for my watercoloring friends. Your picks are fantastic (as always). Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎄!!
Oooooooo, Christmas shopping. Always some great gift ideas. Love the toned watercolor journals, the books and M. Graham set. There, shopping list done...now what do I get others for Christmas? 😁😁😁
All great gifts! I would be super happy with any one of those. Fountain pen, sable brush pen are the heavy hitters for me as a ink lover and watercolor. Portable pallette would be awesome but then seems incomplete with out paints. If someone gives you the m gram set, they really love you and I'd you willing to spend that much, I'm guessing spending another $30 plus on a portable painter and a sketchbook is no problem.
Excellent video Steve. Wow.. thanks so much! The orders were coming in as I was watching!, I will be firing and making books to order as they come through my website! I love that you support artists.
Wow that’s a lot of great ideas for gifts to give & a few to buy for myself. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on cool gifts for artists. Hope you have a wonderful holiday shopping 🛍 season too.
Great ideas for a wide range of budgets. Those watercolor bowls are so beautiful, maybe one day… Those Uni pencils are great, however, that tin is overkill, in my opinion, especially the hard range-anything harder than 4H is a nail! The Jetstream Edge pens and the Kuretake brush pens are on my list. The Graphitint pencils are hard to get used to but a lot of fun and with interesting results. Very enjoyable video, thanks.
Been looking for a video like this, Steve! Gives me great responses to friends and family that ask what I’d like this year. Thanks for producing and Merry Christmas! 🎄🙏🏻❤️
"People that don't normally visit this channel..." Ya nailed me. I only ever abnormally visit this channel. "People who aren't normal subscribers." Nailed me again. Thank you for welcoming us, the abnormal. So which pencil tastes best? You left that important decision point out.
Thanks so much Steve and Reese I’ve been looking forward to this video since last year! Christmas wouldn’t be nearly so fun to shop for without my favorite elf’s recommendations, your both rocking the look this year! Thanks for all you do.
I have the Derwent Drawing set and they are some of THE BEST colored pencils I've ever used for animal/landscape artwork, which is what the colors are geared towards. They are a fatter barrel pencil with creamy pigment that goes on and blends really nicely. Can't recommend them enough.
Made me rofl ! Great sense of humour thanks for the laughs and as always art knowledge and recommendations! And for getting this video up early and reminding me next time I blink it’s gunna be Christmas Eve x_x haha !
Once again, Steve, you have compiled a very nice and inspirational list! Thank you! I have Ann Blockley's book "Experimental Flowers in Watercolour" and I can only highly reccommend it! So inspirational!
Just added a few items that i never knew existed to my santa list....aka my credit card. That color palette 🎨 you picked the colors for looks amazing and is defintely a gotta have. 👌
OMG! Just pulled up RU-vid and there you were! I just about spit all the iced tea out of my mouth! NOT 'sweet tea'! Bahahahahahahaa! Were you drinking?
Man i just love you and your videos! You always have such great, positive energy and never fail to inspire!! These are all great gift suggestions!! Thanks brother, Happy Holidays!!🎄☃️
I used to feel the same until I found the Chinese market. Same acrylic resin at a fraction of the price with better nibs. Of course they aren't gift worthy, but they are better.
@@phillipstroll7385 i must have ordered from the wrong company then…ordered a set of 4 acrylic pens/Chinese company-the nibs are so terrible-the ink doesn’t feed property and they skip more than write…i’ll stick to my Twsbis, pilots…kawecos…😉 (although right now I’m really enjoying my restored vintage Sheaffers with 14k gold nibs-writing with these is such a pleasure!….)
Well Steve, I hope the supplies will be better than our local grocery stores. I 1st plan to go to our local independent art supply store. You know the one 😆... I also have been planning on purchasing a couple of classes for the special ones on my list. Our local artists have been kind of hard hit with this pandemic. Have a great holiday!
I like TWSBI’s, but my favorites in a less expensive pen is the Noodler’s Ahab. The points are quite flexible and they make demonstrator models - with clear bodies, so you know how much ink you have left.
