Silly Question..... If i go to the amazon link you provide, and there are other choices for products, like different color, size etc.... do you still get the credit for it or does it have to be the specific one that you have linked to?

Very thoughtful of you to ask. Yes, I get credit for anything you order from that link follow for the next 24 hours after you clicked it, or even longer if you go ahead and put the item it in your cart then come back later and purchase. If you leave Amazon and come back through other means or links like typing in the Amazon web address I no longer get credit. I know it's a bit late for "liking" but I have grandchildren who have birthdays coming up. A very gifted and talented bunch. The youngest shows the most promise in watercolor and he is an excellent artist. He's only 11 but his drawings and perspective are spot on, very realistic.

I'm guilty of putting watercolor in a box "long before I ever got into painting or even art".... I thought "why would anyone use watercolor over regular paint, watercolor is just so light and washed out color." Now I'm obsessed with watercolor, once I found out the ease of use anywhere and the awesome colors you can get and mix!

I really really like that colored lead holder that holds 8 colors. Just really wish they made it in smaller lead sizes. I think colored leads are way better than graphite for under drawings in watercolor

I already received the best gift. It was at the beginning - you singing with Reese. I watched that three times, took two times to actually hear the "batman smells". That was so funny. Great ideas, some unique and pricing from "O, my, no way" to "I can pull that off". Great work.

Rumour mill says Golden may start making smaller tubes of QOR for better affordability. I use their liquid watercolours a lot and love their brilliance and movement. The bloom wonderfully and mix well with other brands. Thanks for showcasing QOR. Great vid!!!

Love that Pentel multi-colored pencil--thats definitely going on my "wish list"! Conklin pens are a fantastic value--I have an OmniFlex nib in one of my conklin DuraGraph pens, and it is delightfully expressive. Be careful with those Conklin pens though --they can be addictive (I've got 4, and plan on getting several more!) I'm also a bookbinder and i REALLY appreciate the fact that you promote your local book artist and encourage people to support local craftspeople. There are people making some really beautiful journals and sketchbooks out there, and we all need to support their efforts. Thanks for this video--these are some wonderful ideas for gifts for artists!

Velveteen Rabit was my brother's favorite book growing up. He even had the stuffed bunny. The version of the book you shared is quite beautiful. Nice suggestions.

My favorite at is illustration. These illustrators are absolutely amazing. I think people forget da Vinci started out as an illustrator. In fact he wasn't a genius. He plagiarized the books he illustrated. That's who he couldn't finish anything. He didn't know how. He was an amazing artist though.

I have been with Anna Masons School of Art since she first came online and her work is so beautiful and you soon learn how to paint realistic - though I like to paint in all styles and learn with several different watercolour artists. A good selection of art tools - 🌹🍀👌 Just ordered my set of Pentel 8 Pencils for Christmas 😄 & I LOVE Fountain Pens (I have 247 in my collection) 😳I Adore collecting Art Tools (I am an Art Tools Junkie ) & love collecting Brushes, Sketching Journals & Heavy Watercolour Papers, Paints, etc. and I use them all, my art room is my art grotto 😄😉Keeps me happy and most of all, keeps me painting 🎄🎨🎄🎨

Thank you for this video I'm just starting in this art I was a landscaper who owned her own business but I had a accident a few yrs ago I miss doing my drawings fir customers and my friend who is a watercolor artist suggested I try my hand at this....i love how you said about graphic pencils cause that's what i used, it's so nice to have a common item that landscaper use and ccx watercolor artist can use...thank u again for this video and your others...newyork strong..

Steve, this was a fun list, thank you! I was especially excited to see the velveteen rabbit because I've always collected storybooks for the same reason. A couple years ago my grandma wrote a series of stories for the great grandkids. I illustrated it and we had it printed and bound to give to each in the family for Christmas last year. Even included a recording of her reading the stories aloud, which was very special. That's what got me started in watercolor and I hope to keep learning so I can continue in the illustration field in the future. I've sure learned a lot from your channel that's helped me improve! Keep it up and Merry Christmas!

One thing that is good to bundle with a fountain pen is a couple of bottles of good ink for fountain pens. Many people don't really know which ink works best with which pens. Moreover, some inks dry quickly and some do not. It's work looking into different inks and the various characteristics of certain inks (like being waterproof or being fade proof, etc.) A bottle of pen cleaning fluid is always a good addition as well. Depending on how much someone wants to spend, I recommend a Noodler (inexpensive but you can get a flex nib) or a Pelikan (expensive but is the best pen out there for drawing imo.) I recently purchased one of the pens advertised on Facebook. It's not a bad pen, but the thin point means that you need a very smooth paper and a high flowing ink. Even with these, it's still a bit picky, but I do enjoy the line when it's working correctly.

Reese, give him an earful for not mentioning inks for fountain pens! A great gift for watercolor painters, regardless of their skill level, is _Dreamscapes Myth and Magic._ Nothing is more in-tune with watercolor than fantasy, and Myth and Magic has it in spades. Lot of helpful tips for beginners, and it shows what's possible with your imagination in watercolor.

Nice suggestions. I like the Pentel Graphgear set, I’ve pit that on my wishlist! On another note, the Cloverleaf palette is also sold at Jacksons, Ken Bromley’s and other UK outlets, but was originally only available at Jacksons. It’s worth looking around them all for prices if anyone is in UK, though Jacksons also ships to US, prices will be cheaper than shown for US residents as VAT is removed.

I’m a beginner watercolor painter. I have suppressed my inner artist ever since being in nursing school and have recently graduated with my masters and started getting into watercolor. Your channel has recently caught my eye and I’m so glad I’ve found it. I am not much of a sketcher and was trying to find a light box to help me trace images I’d like to watercolor. I came across the huion video and I was so glad that I did! Thank you for all your posts and as soon as I’m done taking boards I hope to watch and learn from you even more!

Love your channel, found it 3 weeks ago and have been catching up on past broadcasts with my emphasis on techniques that expand my boundaries beyond mainly floral images. In one episode covering paper you have in your paper storage as the camera faded out I had to smile because I saw a GWS rc airplane box on the top shelf. I smiled because once having flown rc airplanes I had spent many hours flying. Now given the choice, I'd choose painting each and every day hands down. Best wishes and thanks for the channel.

Wow. Those are some great gift ideas. The paint box is really cool. My husband fly fishes and has all of these little compartmentalized, waterproof fly boxes that look similar to that paint box (without the additional mixing areas, of course). Same long pin hinges and everything. Every time he gets out his gear I marvel at those little boxes, thinking they would make cute travel palettes. I wonder if those were what the creator was inspired by? If anyone is curious, I found an example on eBay; ABS Plastic Fly/Ice Fishing Jig/Lure Box.

The Mind of Watercolor It is expensive. But got it at Cheap Joes with 20 percent off. 79.00. Beautiful brush. Metal point tip works nice on water color paper and becomes hidden when painted. Tip has great point and shorter handle. Might be one brush to take when out in the field. By the way your one of the best sites out there. Absolutely love it and your a great artist. Thanks for the instruction, entertainment and laughs.

Some interesting gift ideas. For future reviews you may want to check out the new half pan sets by Daniel Smith. I found them over at Dick Blick. The full size set they offer contains the ultimate mixing pigments as suggested by Jane Blundell, including a half pan of Janes Gray.

Great video! Love the books you shared. Will be going on my wish list! As far as children's books go, I am a huge Chris Van Dusen fan, he is an amazing gouache artist. His book "Hattie and Hudson" might be my favorite illustrations of any children's book. It is wonderful! His illustrations in the "Mercy Watson" books are spot on.

I'm an absolute sucker for nice packaging like that of the fountain pens - but I'm also a lefty and a heavy handed at that, so those are probably not for me. Guess, I gotta find another fellow artsy one to gift those to ^^'. I love the 1,4mm mechanical pencil and that it's super chunky, which is always nice to hold for lefties like me. I suppose it'll also weigh a bit more than those flimsy plasticky ones, which would be another plus point in the "what makes things great for lefties"ranking :3. The Pentel multicoloured pencil would be something I'd get for myself :) So effective with the space it takes up. I can have 2mm leads and more than just one colour in such a thin, little pencil that won't take up so much space in my pencil case :D! Oh, and the sketchbooks and books.... lovely 🥰 Somebody please freeze my bank account ;P

I've had the Cloverleaf palette for a couple of years now. It works great. I bought an extra pan insert recently but haven't filled it yet. Excellent list!! I was looking for a sketchbook that had decent paper so I’ll add it to my wishlist :-) i watched your earliest videos where you said to never skimp on paper and it’s a mantra in my head now whenever I shop for supplies! I tell myself “I don’t want to disappoint Steve!!!!”

What a great list. I took notes. I own and just ordered a 2nd Conklin Duragraph FP with Omniflex nib from Goulet pens. I agree that fountain pens are a great artist's tool as well as being a joy to write with. Having multiple pens gives me convenient options for inks....especially having waterproof ink such as DeAtramentis Document Black always in a pen and color or nonwaterproof that I purposefully bleed. Steve,thanks for a great video and all the information on different products. Now all I have to do is get my husband to watch it and (me) cough at the right times. PS. Have to throw in a little shout out For our Lubbockite, Tim Oliver he is in the Splash 19. You could never meet a nicer, humble artist, a true Texan. His work is amazing. Hope you will give us any reviews on the gifts in this video that are for you if time allows. Also good point to watch for books that are illustrated by watercolor artists.

Ooooh! Those Pentel Multi8 are brilliant! I have the FC wood fountain & pencil set, but that Pentel is terrific for my Pen-clicking Husband’s habits. Black Velvet TRAVEL⁉️ WOW How does the Cloverleaf palette puddle/mix?

Interesting Steve that the Cloverleaf palette is unusual in the US, it’s widely available in the UK. Direct purchase from cloverleafpaintbox.com is available and if you buy the storage box as well I think it would take you over the free postage limit.

Okay, Steve you must have been a VERY good boy because Santa not only camas early but he loaded you up!!! Nice. I like my GraphGEar 1000 0.3 it it stopped working. I thought maybe it was clogged so I cleared it and could see light tthrough to the tip so it just broke after a few weeks. Now I have bought a set of 0.5mm HB and I like them. I just hope they hold up. BTW I loved your intro! I always like them though!

Steve, cant tell you how long I've wished for that Cloverleaf palette ( the brass one ) to fall out of the sky. But this one might be a good second choice. Thanks for all you do!
