Watching the part where you are going over the setup in the foyer brought me back to my days as the chair of our church's hospitality committee! I always set up as much as possible on Saturday afternoon before a Sunday fellowship lunch. I always put the eating utensils and napkins at the end. I found with a big crowd, if you put them at the beginning, people have a tendency to lay those items down as they're getting food and forget to pick them back up, then try to go back to find them.
@TracyHensel
@TracyHensel Год назад
Yes, that's so true. We found that through hosting parties as well. Often I put the eating utensils and napkins on the table, as you will see in my Instagram Stories highlight on more extensive party set-up. It also takes up space on the banquet tables, where you may need to put a food dish.

What a beautiful home you have created. You have the decorations and the party foods set out in such a grandiose style! I bet you’d do a bang up job decorating the White House Tracy! I also love the way you manage your guest bedroom. Particularly the way you have the guests bits and bobs arranged. Do you leave the shelves in the closet always set for the ready? If so, do they get dusty? How do you care for your setup? Merry Christmas!
@TracyHensel
@TracyHensel Год назад
Thank you, Janet. I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a nice comment. I leave the guest room closet ready for when needed now that my four oldest daughters live independently. Of course, when they were growing up and two daughters shared that closet, it was a pigsty. The shelves do not get dusty as I have my cleaning lady clean the closet as needed.

Thank you, Erica! I have had the cookie cutters and everything else to cut out and decorate sugar cookies for many years. I recommend shopping on Amazon and searching for what you are looking for. I will provide a link below, and as long as you open the page with that link and do your shopping, I will receive a small commission. Unfortunately, Amazon's payout is terrible. It's literally cents, not dollars. A $40 purchase from Amazon will pay the content creator about 50 cents. It's sad, and content creators are frustrated by this. But everything adds up, so I do appreciate the token back. Here is a link: rstyle.me/+-plrX_R_u7OAfj4EoTL0Eg

Love any video where you show us around your home and how you plan events- so inspiring! Just watched your IG Stories about documenting things down and I did also do your Christmas planning workshop which I loved! Just wondering as I go into the second year of my document, do you start a new one for 2022 from scratch? Or do you go and edit last years to keep any pertinent info available? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks as always for your input. Hannah
@TracyHensel
@TracyHensel Год назад
Hi Hannah. Thank you for the lovely message and compliment. Great question on the Christmas document. I edit the previous year's document, but if anything needs to be saved from say 2022, I will leave that information, and add in anything new to compliment it. For example, my oldest daughter, Kirstyn and her husband Tim have his 12 year old daughter on Christmas Day every other year, and on opposite years have her on Christmas Eve. This may change details and times to certain events, etc. I want to leave that information on the document. Glad you. found value in the workshop and have found a documenting system that works for you.

Hi Tracy. I’d love to know your perspective of tweens and teens at home (especially during the school holidays) and how they choose to spend their time. I work full time, from home as does my husband. I run my own, client centred business so school holidays require the kids to entertain themselves for the most part. I do get concerned with the amount of screen time, FaceTiming friends/boyfriends and xboxing that goes on and I was hoping to have your thoughts on it and how you would handle this type of situation? I don’t want to be unfair to the kids bit I also worry that “there is lots of other things you can be doing!” We live fairly remotely and the kids are 14, 12 and 10. All help and advice always appreciated ❤
@TracyHensel
@TracyHensel Год назад
Hi Rosalind. It makes sense you have concerns, considering many hours can be what we see as wasted when kids engage in such activities. My thoughts - As long as the kids balance their personal activities with chores being done to your and your husband's expectations and they are not isolating themselves, I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's also important that chores are done in a timely manner to be granted the freedom to engage in their chosen activities. They should not need to be reminded. 'Freedom by performance,' as you often hear me say.

Hi Tracy, I wanted to get help with health/fitness planning and financial organization in 2023. Would you recommend booking the Goal Getter package?

The 12-session package is the best; however, you can start with 6 and add an additional 6 later.

Great video! How do you store your Christmas tree?
@TracyHensel
@TracyHensel Год назад
Thank you. We leave the Christmas tree intact but separate the top two layers, as our ceiling in the basement won't accommodate 12 ft. We then tore it a is in our basement. This helps for a more accessible set up every year. It has worked for us, and the tree has not collected dust. Win-win!

Hi Tracy! I hope you are enjoying your holiday season! I have a question about guests that arrive late no matter what we communicate. My mother in law is without doubt always late. In the past I have told her to arrive at an earlier time then everyone else and she still was late. At a recent gathering she wanted to bring appetizers and then she showed up with appetizers after we had started eating our meal. Sometimes my family is waiting for her so we can begin. I am trying to handle this with grace but I am at my limit with what to do. Any advice is appreciated. And please if you covered this topic I will happily go to the link! Thanks!
@TracyHensel
@TracyHensel Год назад
Thank you. I am indeed enjoying the holiday season. In response to guests arriving late - Never have anyone who notoriously arrives late bring an appetizer. It would be best to not give them food assignments, but if they insist on contributing, ask them to please bring a dessert. Also, consider giving your mother-in-law a different start time than when the actual party starts, and base this time on how far off she typically arrives. For example, if she naturally comes about an hour late, and your party starts at 2 p.m., tell her the party begins at 1 p.m. instead. If you are concerned that another family may mention the time to her, you could just let them know beforehand. If she mentions that she heard the party started at 2, say, Nope, it starts at 1. You're the host, do it well.
@fairysoulz4903
@fairysoulz4903 Год назад
Thank you for taking time to respond. Yes this year was definitely the time when I said she does not need to bring food, and in the past I did tell her to be early it does help. This year the gathering is at my moms and she is invited. I will discuss with my mom how to handle it, example asking my mom if she's comfortable telling her to come early. Funny thing is you are just confirming what I already knew. Your the best, thank you for all you do!
