Wonderful cast, wonderful movie, wonderful music. I'm sure glad they chose Marjorie Reynolds for this movie. She is so beautiful and quite a good actress as well.
"Holiday Inn" is a 1942 movie starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. "Easter Parade" is a 1948 movie starring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire. The actress in this video is Marjorie Reynolds. Some of you may remember her as Peg, the wife of William Bendix's character on the TV series "The Life Of Riley" (1953-58).
This was a great movie! A great competition for a woman (or two) between Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Take note here, Bing doesn't really look at Marjorie Reynolds too much whereas she can't stop looking at him with stars in her eyes (can't say I blame her there!) My absolutely favorite scene is Washington's birthday, W get to see the characters in 18th century dress and powdered wigs, and I lovely soft song, "I cannot tell a lie" that Bing will jazz up everytime, Fred is supposed to kiss Marjorie. Great dancing too, especially the Firecrackers dance..
The song “Easter Parade” was originally performed in the Broadway revue, “As Thousands Cheer” in the newspaper-themed show’s “rotogravure” section scene.
