Fantastic footage! I went from laughing at Kirstie’s polar bear hat coming out onto the balcony to tears rolling down my cheeks at the pass-by of the Royal Princess and the calving! Well done!
Thank you so much for sharing your views of the Glacier Bay. People ask me what its like to take a cruise in Alaska and I usually tell them its soul refreshing. As usual, your photography nailed it!
This is the place I was gutted our Alaskan cruise didn't go - I haven't seen any pictures or videos that make it look anything less than absolutely incredible!
Wow, what a wonderful vlog, absolutely stunning to watch. Loved seeing the Royal Princess sailing past. Also Kirstie’s hat was great to see too. Many thanks👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Wow wow wow that scenery is just wow! Love Kirstie's hat especially as she walked out onto the balcony! 😂 Great capture of the glacier breaking away and of the Princess ships. Don't think we will try a Penecillin! 😂
Yeah we were so lucky it was clear and sunny that day. I did laugh when I was going through the clips and saw Kirsties hat come out onto the balcony! The penicillin was actually pretty nice, I should have stirred it though.
These vlogs are bringing back so many memories for us, we had a fantastic day in Glacier Bay and it was really sunny till on our way out a thick fog came out of nowhere and we had to have the fog horn going for a bout two hours and then just like that it was gone.
Brilliant footage, loved the views of Glacier Bay and really liked the Royal Princess sail by, I was on her 3 times last year, great ship. I am looking forward to my 11 day Alaska on Crown Princess at the end of August. I really like your vlogs, keep up the great work. Cheers from Vancouver
Brilliant video and music for the Glacier Bay segment; loved the shots of Royal Princess as well as the glacier calving! My wife and I watch all of your vlogs, and always look forward to the next one. We will be cruising the British Isles August 24th on the Regal Princess (our 5th Princess cruise). We highly recommend the 10 day New England and Canada cruise from New York to Quebec City!
Really enjoyed your wonderful experience of Glacier Bay. We love watching your vlogs. This is the best one so far.Its amazing how you can match the music to the scenery so well. Thank you. Rod & Dee
Spectacular footage. I’ve watched other YT videos about Glacier Bay and have never really understood the attraction, but your video has made me want to go and see it for myself! Thank you for sharing!
You are so lucky to have done such a fab cruise, my wife and I are going to Alaska in May and going to do the same and after seeing your blog we can be more excited. Thank you so much
Absolutely Fantastic! I just showed this to my wife and said "It's time to take that Alaskan cruise we've always talked about" What was the average age group on the ship? A lot of kids running around? We were talking about taking the NCL Bliss out of Seattle but now we are leaning towards Holland America.I think Holland might fit our laid back style better. Thanks for sharing this chapter in your lives!
Hey, glad you enjoyed the video! We'd definitely recommend Alaska as a cruise destination. We loved it! It was a bit of a mix on board. Quite a few Asian multi-generation families on our particular sailing. Don't know if that's normally a thing. We'd definitely choose Holland America to do Alaska for sure.
Another great video. We beat you on seeing glacier calvings though, we saw four, two of which actually rocked the cruise ship :) Oh… and I don’t think those were killer whales you saw, they looked very much like Dall’s Porpoises.
Absolutely superb video, so professional, definitely sold me the trip , just need to save up 😂, Kirstie is rocking the hat 😉🛳️ can’t wait for the next episode, thanks for sharing 🥂
Some really nice filming and editing, well done. Also excellent background music choices. We've just been on the same cruise. We had epic weather, as in great, the whole time except when in glacier Bay. Your video really showed how special it is a calm sunny day. The blue in the glacier doesn't stand out so much on a cloudy day. Not that I'm complaining about how was for us. Just thought I'd add one thing.... You 2 share my kids names! Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks! I was using a Sony A7SIII. The lens on the tripod was a Sony 70-200mm f4 G. My 'walk around lens is a Sony 16-35mm f4 G PZ lens. I also had a DJI action camera mounted on the balcony for some shots.
we were considering planning an alaskin cruise , but after watching your informative video , we cannot book it soon enough . Thankyou Keep up the good work
@@andyandkirstieAndy, we just finished the same cruise. We watched these videos before and are currently watching them again. Our Skagway stop was cancelled due to weather, so it was just like being there through your video. Especially got a kick out of your food reviews; I’m definitely not a “foodie,” and my wife had me experimenting with a LOT of things.😜
My wife saw Kirsty take a beautiful picture on her phone, she was wondering what phone it was🙄… so she can take lovely photos when we go to the fjords in August.
Absolutely breathtaking scenery incredibly filmed and photographed. Well done Andy, the filming along with the music was very moving at times......sounds like breakfast times are a bit manic 😄
Glacier bay looks stunning. We are thinking about Alaska for 2025. You mention the ship being very overcrowded at times how bad was it? Wonderful video footage luv it
It really was stunning! The ship was definitely full. There were always places you could go that weren't so busy, but the buffet at meal times was mad. Definitely go for a balcony cabin.
Your editing skills are just …wow !! Your video forced me to plan for Alaska cruise next year. Any idea about hows the weather and excursions in early may and mid may .. ??thats the only window I can do this amazing cruise tour.
Thanks! Our Alaska videos were filmed in May, so you could probably expect to have a similar experience. We're sure you'll have a great time, whenever it is you go!
Andy, your camera skills are second to none ❤ I lost all my photos from my holiday over there, as my computer blew up, and I didn’t have the skills to retrieve anything 🤦🏼♂️
Fantastic yet again, looked amazing. What would you say is better scenery the Norwegian fjords or Alaska ? That ship seemed to bug you with all that noise, if you was to do Alaska again what cruise ship or company would you use ? Whens your next cruise ? Thanks for the video, awesome.
Wouldn't say either we're better, just different. Norwegian Fjords are beautiful, but Alaska just feels more wild, with epic views. The noise was a bit much, we prefer a peaceful dining experience and it mostly wasn't at all. That being said I would definitely choose Holland for Alaska. It always felt we had priority with our berths and better time in port.
We are enjoying your videos. My wife and I will be taking this exact cruise on Koningsdam for our 30th anniversary in September. Also, what the brand, or where did you get the grey long-sleeve shirt with the skull & crossbones on the pocket. Thanks!
You'll have a great time, that was one of our all-time favourite cruises. The top is from a company called Thrudark, set up by ex British special forces guys. www.thrudark.com
Stunning images once again. Kirstie’s hat lol. Thought you were being attacked by a polar bear on the balcony at one point. The music is lovely and very appropriate. How do you chose it ? Never managed to get my head around escargot, not for the faint hearted 😱
I use Epidemic Sounds for all the music in our videos. It's just a case of listening to multiple tracks before feeling I've found the right track to match the visuals. I'll generally have a rough idea what I'm listening out for before I start searching.
We went to the main dining room but weren't too impressed with that and the buffet was also much closer, practically right outside our cabin, which is why we decided it was the better option.
Thank you again for another superb video. Your production is right up there with the best on YT. Really is. That scenery is just unbelievable and I said to my wife I think I’d be an emotional wreck seeing that in person. Your choice of music to accompany this was brilliant. Pleasure to watch this.
Hi Andy & Kirstie, My wife and I are long time subscribers to your channel. We enjoy watching all of your videos. This one of Glacier Bay in Alaska was exceptional. We loved the scenery of the mountains. Your camera work was Great Andy. We plan on going on our first cruise to Alaska next year. Your videos have iced the deal for us!!! Thank you for taking us all along your your travels. David & Donna Sheets in Florida.
Hi Andy and Kirstie, I have enjoyed watching your journey on the cruise to Alaska. Question for Kirstie, where did you get your polar bear hat/beanie from? Thanks, Erika from sunny Perth Australia 🇦🇺 😎
My usual 'carry around' lens is a 16-35mm f4. I also used a 70-200mm f4 on a tripod and a 20mm f2.8 in the evening. I don't take particularly special pictures and tend to just use my phone for that. They can be found at instagram.com/andyandkirstie
Superb scenery captured but favourite bit is kirsty with her polar bear hat and every time I watch your videos the sex pistols song frigging in the rigging... comes to mind😅
We loved it! Really liked the ship and our cabin. Don't think we had the best dining experience, mainly due to the fact it was so busy, so would definitely like to try HAL again.
