No cost to great. No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering. Born of God and Void. You shall seal the blinding light that plauges their dreams. You are the vessel. You are the *hollow knight.*
y’know, while dying in the path of pain over and over again, i started to hate this song and associate it with those stupid buzzsaws and retracting spears. however, upon playing the hollow knight battle and watching them stab themself to try and rid themself of the infection for the first time, i felt my heart absolutely shatter for this fictional vessel raised their entire life to contain the infection. now, instead of the path of pain, i associate this song with the hollow knight’s suffering, and the beauty of the game that is hollow knight.
I also did path of pain first, I had to turn down the song because it was distracting me from the challenge. Then, I heard the version playing in birthplace and it was so beautiful and so sad, but even that moment couldn't compare to finally facing the Hollow Knight... Slapping Radiance to death was one of the most satisfaying moment I've ever experience in a video game.
@@sansundertale809 are you saying the joke wooshed me? No u Cuz i understand the joke Im just thinking it too hard to the point where i made it even more funny for myself ( *_dont judge my humor_* ).... If you mean something else, sorry and di mean no offense
You really capture the emotions in this part of the theme. It tells you that the hollow knight isn't just a final boss with the infection. They're a bug, just like all other bugs, but with this curse, this infection that's slowly driving them mad. They don't want to beat you. They want the pain to stop.
@@nimkth1561 Basically, all vessels are creatures made of pure, living void contained by an outer shell. Not bugs like the majority of Hallownest's denizens.
I just can't decide what's my favorite music in the game... City of tears outside, hornet, the title theme or this...They are all so effective in their own ways. The composer is a genius.
No cost to great. .. No mind to think. .. No will to break. .. No voice to cry suffering... Oh who am I kidding! I just wanted a reason to have 2 trillion geo worth of buzzsaws installed!
Fun Fact: The actual track is often referred to as "Birthplace" or "Path of Pain," because they're the first two places where it's actually used. Sealed Vessel is basically just an extended, official version that has the opening phase of music to the Hollow Knight boss fight. In fact, usually, if I try searching this song, I never explicitly search "Sealed Vessel," but instead "Birthplace" or "Path of Pain" myself.
"The first is inevitable on current course, regression, all minds relinquished to that pernicious plague. The second I find preferable, and would seek your aid in its occurrence, replacement. I implore you, usurp the Vessel. Its supposed strength was ill-judged. It was tarnished by an idea instilled. But you. You are free of such blemishes. You could contain that thing inside. I'll offer fair warning. The Vessel may itself be weak, but it is much empowered by that force within." -The White Lady
The White lady made two mistakes in one small speech. First, the Hollow Knight is weak despite Radiance's attempt to control it. Second, the best solution is certainly not to have another vessel.
@@PinguinKeks I was refering to her line in which she states PV is stronger due to the infection, which is a blatant lie. The phrase in my previous comment referred to that: "The Vezsel may itself be weak, but it is much empowered by that force within." We know that is not true thanks to the Pure Vessel fight.
@@ordinaryplatinum you know, that if you just keep doing nail pogo on them you can easily kill them, and also using dive spell gives you invincibility so you can spam that while you pogo. It gets rid of them in seconds, and you don't take any damage if you do it right, because Kingsmoulds can't attack up, and the boomerang blades can't reach you if you're right on top of a Kingsmould.
This song is very interesting, it has a lot of feelings but one of the main ones is that the song seems like it doesn't end, and when you think there is no way to get better, it always gets better, and it always gets louder and stronger, it's like it was a stock investment chart always rising, always making a profit, and only ends when it wants to. 🔐📈🔒
I hear it is because the main game's leitmotif isn't allowed to finish. It gets cut off after the first 4 notes. It keeps trying to resolve itself but keeps getting interrupted and held back. It truly embodies the tragedy of the Hollow Knight and the vessels' existence. The pain and suffering. The sacrifices made. Unable to release anything. This all builds up into the true ending's music where this exact melody is allowed to continue and be complete. This coincides with the vessels finally achieving their goal and finally resting.
Today's the first time I've heard this variation of Sealed Vessel in my 75 hours of playing Hollow Knight. I can't describe the rush of emotions stage 5 gave me. It's triumphant and depressing at the same time, I feel like my heart's going to burst just from the suddenness of it becoming so epic, holy fucking shit I can't wait to try Path of Pain after fucking AbsRad in the ass.
Update: I've beaten P5 atleast 16 times now, and I've beaten Path of Pain first try in Steel Soul in less than an hour, beaten it 4 times on different saves for fun, but I still have so much fun with it.
Comment : Path of Pain meme Replies : *_wOaH nIcE pRoFiLe PiCtUrE_* just kidding alright, the pfp is very good. So who am i to judge, it's just a some form of meme (i guess)
Actually he wasn't People fail to understand him, and call him evil even though he wasn't Dude must be the most tragic character in the story, having to sacrifice his children for the better of the kingdom And it's actually Radiance who caused all the pain But you can't blame her, it was the moth tribe's insolence that did this
I believe the path of pain never existed outside of the dream version of white palace. His attachement to the Hollow Knight is considered by the Pale King to be the reason of it's failure, so it makes sense that a dream of his old bodyguard would protect the throne room well with all those buzzsaws, but also would protect the worst secret of the Pale King even better.
There’s a lore tablet before the path of pain that states its purpose. “To witness secrets sealed, one must endure the harshest punishment.” This basically spells out that it was made to protect the secret at the very end.
I believe that the path of pain was a test to tell you the truth. Of why the Hollow Knight wasn't a pure vessel. I think at first he was a pure vessel, him looking back at us in the abyss was just a reaction of some sort, as we are a pure vessel as well, we look at things too. I think at the end of the path of pain that it tells how the Hollow Knight wasn't pure, the him and the pale king had some sort of bond.
@@Sumwan Yeah, but this has only part 1 by itself, then part 1+2, 1-3, 1-4 & 1-5 just like in this video. I'd love to hear parts 2-5 individually instead of together with part 1. Thanks for linking this, though.
"Empty vessel" Ehud haber Born of god. Born of void. Devoid of soul. Now lost to fog. Hear him scream . Hear him yell. No mind to think. No voice to tell. No will to break. No soul to want. No heart to yearn. Now forced to haunt. Do not think. Do not sink. Do not speak. Do not weep. Show no pain. Show no fear. For the king. You must adhere. No voice to scream. No tears to cry. Drawing closer to the light. With nothing in its empty eye. Insides glow bright. With chains shut tight. For now you fight. The hollow knight. For the kingdom. All shall hail. You are the vessel. Do not fail.
This song touches me in an indescribable way. Thank you for posting this Sumwan, so I can listen to it in loop for hours I'd also love if you could make a 10 minutes loop of the stage 5 someday, thanks
I spent 5 freaking hours trying to get through the Path of Pain. I got to the last stretch and couldn’t go any further. It sucked to quit knowing I have to start over the next time.
Hope you did it since then. I ragequit the last area on PS4 and a year later I tried it on PC as I felt far more comfortable with keyboard controls. Took a good 3-1/2 hours but got it done.
Man, what a good yet sorrowful theme, I love this. And then I had to do 2 hours+ of path of pain, and 45 minutes of that run where complete silence as I just couldn't take it and had muted the game entirely.
What I love the most about the path of pain, isn’t the intense platforming nor the amazing design. It’s how team cherry managed to put you in the shoes of both your main character and the hollow knight by just pure platforming and music. At the start each time you get hit you start to feel pain, but with each spike that pierces through you, each sawblade that shred you to pieces, each thorn that you get slammed into. You will start to realize something that feeling of pain starts to fade away and I feeling of emptiness starts to creep in. it’s not sadness nor anger just hollowness that cripples inside you. However you continue trying even when you can’t feel anything because it’s becomes your purpose to beat it to end this misery even after knowing that you won’t be getting any instant enjoyment from it. Which is exactly how both the knight and the hollow knight are feeling there only point of existence is to serve a goal beating the infection. There is no pain no joy no anger. They are just hollow. And this ost played a big role to achieve this.
Yo, after fighting this boss for the untrue ending, I went through 5 emotions in a span of a few minutes, maybe seconds: first anxious, then starstruck, then laughing out of confusion, then started crying, and lastly, sleepy. This video game made me feel something that no other video game can.
Tbh, the Hollow Knight, in my opinion is one of the most tragic and heartbreaking characters I have ever seen, I will never fail to be to be emotional during their fight, especially the transition between their phases where they start repeatedly stabbing themself. They need hugs, all of the emotional support, and I just want to protect them.
The instruments that you hear in the five stages of path of pain are a viola a cello a double bass a violin and of course a choir some brass instruments and a timpani and a flute and a cymbal.
Honestly, when this music started i didn’t know what has happening, I didn’t know what the sudden music change was and since I avoided videos of any final battle, I totally did not expect Hollow Knight to pull a fast one on themself-
It hurts my heart listening to this because there's just so much raw emotion behind this piece. The entire game has been building up to this moment, with trials and tribulations, victory and loss. The Knight has grown stronger but in the end they have to sacrifice themself to self away the Radiance. Despite everything, despite their newfound strength and allies, they are doomed to remain shackled up inside the Black Egg for the good of Hallownest. It's such a melancholic and bittersweet ending and this piece perfectly captures that.
Start this video and Sealed Vessel (Birthplace) at the same time and put them both in loop: they will perfectly match, even when one of them starts over while the other goes on. Thank me later.
Did path of pain on all saves finally and this song made the journey so much better, when you listening to music like this it doesnt feel as painstaking
