Hollow Knight is such a good game and it got to the point where I didn't even want to touch any other games. I'm not like that anymore, but I can't say I was necessarily mad when I was.

@@saintfuki this is the most relatable video ever. I got the game back in mid 2018 when it released for the switch. I got stuck and didn’t come back until November 2020. I played it again and here I am with over 650 hours on the switch version alone (meaning no modding to make the experience more fresh). Needless to say this is my favorite game of all time. I played Celeste and thought it was fine but not nearly as good as hollow knight. I’m currently addicted to enter the gungeon and would recommend it to anyone with 15 dollars and an itch for a charming top down shooter rougelike, even if you aren’t the hugest fan of those genres alone, I wasn’t and I still got hooked. It would be the same for me... IF MY COMPUTER WAS GOOD ENOUGH ! Iagine playing through the collosseum on 20 fps, and with imput lag. Yeah, it wasn't fun. But i stuck with it, and now even though it's like playing on a f***ing pdf file, i only have to do the third collosseum, beat sly and beat the final pantheon.... But it ain't gonna happen if i don't get a new computer. So were it consumes your life, replaying the game would litterally eat my lunch money... for multiple months.

I player Ori first and seemed to enjoy it more, (more accessible, touching story, amazing visuals) but I'm about to do a 2nd playthrough of Ori now that I've gotten HK out of my system (120 hours,,,) and we'll see if it holds up. It might take a while until I get used to medium-hard games again, after HK whooped my ass for 100 hours straight.

My favorite metroidvanias leading up to Hollow Knight were Dust: An Elysian Tail, Super Metroid and Guacamelee: STCE, and I can confidently say Hollow Knight blew all of them out of the water. Hollow Knight is my favorite metroidvania, by a landslide. While I don't know exactly where I'd rank it in terms of my all-time favorite games, I know it's definitely in my top five games I've ever played. Can't wait for Silksong!

This happened to me first after Bloodborne and again after Hollow Knight It took me a long time to really process that it's not that all other games are bad... A handful of games are just too good! lol Once I finally accepted that I started enjoying other games again

Im really sad that I spoiled myself for this game and looked all of the secrets up. I wont do that for silksong. I accidentally killed zote on my first playthrough but I didnt have to fight him in pantheon 3 and thats the only way I got through it

Genuinely, same. I feel like silksong is an opportunity to start from scratch, exploring another beautiful world. I won't look down on anybody for looking up secrets, but to me I feel like I've been given the chance to experience it as it was 'meant' to be played and I won't waste it like I had with Hollow Knight itself.

@@crystallineAurora i would like to tell that no matter how much you know about hollow knight, the game have a unique ability that no other game in gaming history have: THIS GAME keeps SURPRISING and AMAZING you with new little details or new features, I played the game 113h and still find new things to discover (sadly i never managed to beat the pantheon of the hallownest dispite facing the absolute radiance but lost), for me, hollow knight is the best game ever for all time

For the pantheon 5, I recommand you to learn how to use Deep Focus. Trust me, it's the easiest way to defeat the last couple bosses, even if it's not the fastest.

I also kinda hate how Hollow Knight set the bar for other indie games so damn high that I refuse to play anything else. Like I got celeste, enter the gungeon, subnautica and ori but I haven't finished those games because I'd rather replay Hollow Knight for the 7th time.

SAME, I wanted to refund Celeste so badly (but I had it on Switch, so I fortunately couldn't), I played the first Ori game but even though I enjoyed it, I didn't take as much interest in it as I did with Hollow Knight on my first time through (still love the game though) and I was new to rougelikes/lites at the time so I didn't really care at all

Two months ago i got hk n hated it because i thought forgotton crossroads was the only place fast forward to today i have 150 hrs on the game i got 112% completion got all 5 endings qnd beat the pantheon of hallownest

If you have vr, I highly recommend the under presents. Like hollow knight, it takes a bit to get into, but it's rly worth it bc the atmosphere, meeting and helping strangers, and community are all amazing! You many also like subnautica if you haven't played it already. I was too scared to actually get into it the first time, but when I came back and played it, there was so much more to it than I thought. Aaand if you took the time to read all this, you should know that you've just found yourself a new subscriber!

I actually had more or less the same story with hollow knight, stuck in the opening area for like 15 hour, and just quitting the game not knowing where to go (didnt even know how to use wayward compass at the time), but instead of walkthroughs i found relyea's channel, and watched his really good tutorials that basically carried me through the beginning, after i finished for the first time i played hollow knight and only hollow knight for like half a year straight

This is so relatable. I also first did not not really like Hollow Knight. I was 10 hours in and still stuck in Greenpath. I put it down for a bit and played other games. Then a few months later I startrd playing again and it was really fun. I made progress and even if I failed often, I didn't get mad. Then Hollow Knight consumed gaming for me as well for a while and while I still liked other games, it ruined metroidvanias for me. I now have almost 500 hours in it and I regret nothing and still replay it from time to time. It's great. Also great video. Your style kind of resonates with me. Directly subscribed. Great video. god i hate how accurate this is. the only thing that forced me to play different games was playing over 300 hours, getting 112%, losing the 5th pantheon like 10 times and failing steel soul like 3. and now im stuck on friday night funkin and bounce between the two constantly i got nowhere in the end-

I went into hollow knight completely blind cause like at the time a friend had recommended it to me like a year before and whilst scrolling for new games to get, saw the title and thought "why not give it a try?" I have now done steel soul, 112%, gotten all achievements, watched every lore video i could find, and filled at least half a sketchbook worth of hollow knight sketches.

yeah, i feel that so hard, i spent ~4 months straight playing ONLY celeste (112%'d it too) and i only played a different game (celeste, ironically) 4 months after i stopped playing (which was only because i physically COULD NOT, my xbox had broken and thats where my saves were). everything sucks in comparison - sandboxes like minecraft/terraria/stardew have a different type of appeal that i could tolerate, but celeste/cuphead/isaac paled in comparison.

That's more or less how it happened for me. I played a couple of hours, got frustrated, and turned it off. Pissed away my $15. But something made me go back weeks later...and I found the second bench. Ahh. Fast forward lots and lots of hours and I finally beat the true final boss. And now...? Other games don't have the same x-factor and I'm just waiting for Silksong as I bounce from game to game, playing a little bit here and a little bit there. HK is the GOAT.

I felt the exact same way!! The only difference here was that I fell in love the second I saw the trailer, then just never got around to playing it until my cousin bought it for me last year. There was about two months I refused to play anything else because nothing gave me the same thrill. I can't wait for Silksong! We need more games like this one

I had the exact same experience in the starting area of hollow knight. Luckily I decided to revisit it after getting stuck in Ori, and it ended up becoming one of my favorite games I've played, close to Celeste (which I don't think anything can top for me) and breath of the wild. @@lamarrussell1732 sadly nah- it was a ton of fun but whenever I pick it up again I remember why I hated the platforming section I'm stuck on (the part with a gravity orb thing) It's just slow and monotonous and I just don't enjoy playing it :/ Which is kind of a shame since I want to finish it, I just don't have the willpower

@@cryolumia oh the first ori game, i can see why someone would not enjoy that game that much but maybe you should try ori will of the wisps. its night and day difference in every single way and is my favorite platformer ever. I had to drag myself through some parts of the blind forest but will of the wisps i played nonstop for a couple days when i first played it. (also its on xbox gamepass)

I only stopped playing hk cause I completed everything except for p5 and had put 90+ hours into my save file so I just said "aight ima head out" and went back to mining and crafting for the rest of my days

In 2017 cuphead came out and i fell in love with it. I came for the art-style and stayed for the quality. Eventually i 200% it and got all of the s ranks. The. I challenged my self more got all the s ranks again and even beat every boss with the peashooter and literally nothing else, no charms and no specials. So you can bet i was excited for the dlc. And now that i came out i have barely even touched it. You know why? ITS CAUSE IM TOO FUCKING BUSY PLAYIN HOLLOW KNIGHT. A game which i had never played before btw

After playing hollow knight and similar games, I understood that I liked games with a story, that were not scary and involved some kind of challenge (usually those would be puzzle games or difficult games like HK, DC etc.) But it took me 100 hours of only on save file (+30 hrs trying to speedrun steel soul) that I would finally put the controller down and look for another game. CSGO was too toxic for me, Valorant also became boring and Dead cells was just too repetetive. Then I found out that there were still other games with a story (I really thought that the online and open world formula took over gaming and nothing new was ever coming back). Enter, Tales of the Neon Sea, I like don't care what other say about the graphics 'cuz for me graphics aren't as important as fps and story. And it took me this comment to realise that why am I writing this when no one's gonna read it ?

Same for me! I couldn't get into Valo because I thought the game was so boring, I didn't wanna dive into CSGO without a friend either after seeing how awful I was at it. I bought Dead Cells on my birthday and I didn't like it. Some games I really liked after a little while of not playing HK were OneShot, Celeste (after originally hating it) and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Took way too long for that to happen though, lol

IKR!!!!! Hollow knight was so good I though any other game was trash! (except for this my baby boo wandersong, i’ll always love that game. And yes, I don’t think that way anymore too.)
