Hollow Knight: Silksong confirmed NOT releasing by June 2023

Also one thing to keep in mind; there will be bugs in Silksong (no, not that kind). Team Cherry is 2 people. They could spend hundreds of hours looking for bugs and get most of the big ones, but when multiple thousands of people put hours into the game, they’re bound to find some undiscovered ones eventually. And that’s OK. It’s not going to be a perfect game and I think it’s important to remember that. But it’s going to be an awesome game, that much I’m sure of.

I'm honestly thrilled to get *any* news. The confirmation that 1) the team is still alive and 2) they're still working on Silksong is, frankly, *great* news. They're going to make this game as amazing as they can, and I'm here for it. The last thing any of us want is for Silksong to be rushed, after all. Patience is a virtue! It'll come when it comes, and it'll be awesome, and it will be *so* worth the wait. (Unrelatedly, I'm blown away that you managed to make this video so fast, Fire! It's been like three hours since the tweet lol)

As I've said before, all I really wanted to hear was news, it didn't matter if it was it getting delayed (like this case) it's just refreshing knowing that they're still around and polishing the game

I was really looking forward to june because according to the last piece of news about Silksong we got the game was supposed to be released sometime in june at the latest. I feel like I should be sad or dissapointed that Silksong is getting delayed but I'm not. Honestly it's quite exciting to know that the game we've all been waiting for for so long got so big that the only known release date (however vague it was) is now not valid. Apparently Silksong is so big that Team Cherry need additional time to polish everything and make it the best they can before giving us the ability to play it. Normally when I hear about a game getting delayed I just think somthing like "Yeah that's good. Devs have more time so the game will be better" and see others get sad and annoyed about the delay. But now that I actually care about the game that is getting delayed i excited even more. We all thought that Silksong will be ready and released in June but now that's not true and I can't help but wonder how it will turn out and how amazing Silksong will be. I never thought that i would see news about a game not being released as planned and get so hyped.

I'm just happy we got a transparent heads up! What has been hard about all this waiting for me has definitely been the long stretches of radio silence.

I really am glad to hear they're communicating with us about it finally. I do wish they'd hired on some extra prople for production of silksong, but as it is with just the 2 of them i dont mind waiting for it to be in a good state and for them to not overwork themselves.

I remember when Silksong was first announced, Elden Ring was a myth at the time, now it has dlc on the way.

The pressure is strong on them to deliver a game that will become as beloved as Hollow Knight is, and I'm really happy they're taking their time. It's good to hear news that isn't catastrophic about the game, and just that they're still working on making it as perfect as they can before releasing it!

I'm just glad there's any news from them at all. As long as the game will eventually come out, we can wait as long as it takes.

I’m actually relieved in a way because I have a huge backlog of games I’ve bought on Steam that I haven’t gotten around to playing yet and now I’ve got more time to do that before Silksong becomes the only thing I play for like 3 months at least

My honest opinion on this is the community should be mad and express there frustration to Team Cherry for their lack of transparency. They need to be held accountable on the fact they wanted this long literally 2weeks before the first half of 2023 window to tell everyone this information and if you read closely they still didn’t it will release this year still. They gave no Q3 or Q4 in this statement which means they never planned to release this game in 2023 at all. There is so much blame to to be put here, but once again no death threats at all but they definitely need to be held accountable for this. 👀

Honestly, I’m just happy to get actual information from the team after so long with radio silence, and even though it’s not “the game is coming out on this date”, it’s good to hear that they’re not crunching to push something out and are taking their time making the game they want to and making it not be a buggy mess. Nobody should be surprised by this, but it is nice to hear something directly from a Team Cherry member. Not only that, but with BOTW 2 coming out Friday, I'll probably be consumed by that for at least a month or two.

This might sound a little bit selfish, but as someone whose computer just recently broke and no longer has anything to play games out, I’m honestly thankful that Silksong isn’t coming out in June now, like we were expecting. I don’t currently have the money to buy a new PC, and I would’ve been extremely upset to have missed out on the hype train of getting to play the game at launch alongside everyone else. Last year when Elden Ring came out, I wasn’t able to play that either on account of my computer not being good enough to run it, and that was the first time in my life where I felt left out of a game’s popularity, because it seemed like literally every single other person on the planet was playing ER except for me. Still, looking forward to playing Silksong when the day comes that it does finally release. I am absolutely not going to miss out on the opportunity to play it day 1. It’s been at the very top of my wishlist since the day they first revealed it.

I have a voice, and with it I am crying quite a bit of suffering. And yet, I shall be patient still. I shall wait for as it takes, and Team Cherry should take as long as they need.

I'm find it more important that a company takes the time to get it right first. To many games have release over the past 10 years that needed another 6 to 12 months to get all the bigs worked out. I can't wait for the game to release. Great video man.

There are two key things to understand about Silksong's development timetable: 1. Team Cherry's design process is to keep going until they run out of money. 2. They now have infinite money. I'm only halfway joking. Their approach to making Hollow Knight was to keep content somewhat modular so that if things got close with their budget they could shuffle a few things around and polish what they had for release, and they stretched about $70,000 for several years to release with the scale it ended up having. I assume that with constraints lifted they probably aren't as obsessively frugal, but they have enough money that they could burn through it ten times as fast and still take ten times longer without running out.

Finally some actual news from team cherry for the first time in almost a year

My uni has a formal limit on the time we take to do our thesis, not in order to force us into working with speed, so I heard, but rather to prevent us from overexpanding our projects.

I wish I could have as little frustration with these news as the rest of you. It's been *11 months* since the release date announcement, and they waited until the last month to announce a delay. Unless Silksong comes out late-summer/early fall, it's very likely that Cherry has known the game wasn't coming out in June for a long time. The years of radio silence after hyping Silksong up is also very concerning to me. Having another company announce their game's release date while maintaining silence themselves should not inspire confidence. I suspect they always knew it wasn't going to release in June. "Expect more details from us *once we get closer to release* " seems intentionally vague, like they're just going to go silent again for an indefinite amount of time. Personally, I'm abandoning expectations. Silksong will release when it releases, and hopefully it doesn't suck. Until then, I'm not going to think about the game anymore.

Honestly, I'm always happy to hear this sort of thing. Yeah it'd be cool to get to play it soon, but whenever developers take longer to make a game it makes me feel more reassured that the game is going to be a really good one. I guess it's not necessarily gaurunteed, but I'd much prefer it over a rushed release and a lack luster game.
