i fought him without monarch wings. he killed me literally more than 40 times, mostly because of fake out dives (he did a double fake to an actual dive a few times apparently?)
On a side note, I find it really interesting as a choice to make the Second Phase so…desperate. Knowing the lore of this game and all, how tragic everything is, the fights have a surprising amount of personality to them. Maybe that’s why his move is called desolate, a reflection of his attempts.
i think he does it radomly. However, regular jump out and move back alittle bit to him, you can dodge the first attack and being prepared if he trys to do the 2nd dive(if he does 2nd diving, jsut jump out again). The safe area is small but exist.
This is a really easy boss if you are patient. I have defeated him in ascension mode (DLC God seeker). But on the other hand, I had problems to defeat Zote, or Nosk.
I feel the same way. I don't have the Pure Nail yet but even so, most of the bosses kick my ass so hard. But the game is so fun and beautiful to look at that I just wanna keep trying anyway.
for anyone having trouble with this fight: dream shield can block his projectiles, you're safe to heal at least 2 masks at the centre of the arena during the second part of the 6 orb attack, try mark of pride or dashmaster to keep up with him since he's so fast, and if you're prepared for him to break the floor, you can dash and double jump over to the edges of the arena where there's still floor and you have unlimited time to heal while there. good luck!
Question, im currently stuck in the battle, is there a way of changing my charms before going back to Soul Tyrant’s battle or do i need to deal with charms that are useless in battle?
@@your_fathers Nvm i realized there was an exit i didn’t see where you had to use Desolate Dive to leave lmao, but i was stuck in the place where Soul Tyrant was and there weren’t any benches around, but i found the exit and i ended up getting more masks more soul and more charms to defeat it
God. Fighting him in Godhome will never be the same again. I love this battlefield way too much. The original battlefield, the building in the background, all combined with the essence of the dream. It’s so much better.
Best advise for this - take it slow. Only hit when you are sure to hit. It will take 6 minutes to fight him but once you don't care of dealing damage rather just avoiding stuff it gets easier.
This is my favorite boss in the game, it’s just really fun the whole time constantly moving around keeping track of where he goes, and also provides quite a challenge.
You should have loved Grey Prince Zote more. GPZ has a lot of moves including teleport, full screen mine, pull out minions and he is so random. You need constantly being focus and moving like saiyan.
It’s the same one as the Radiance, maybe a connection somehow? Watcher Knights, Broken Vessel and the Hollow Knight (not PV) all have the same scream, and they’re all (possibly) fueled by infection, and Soul Tyrants dream nail dialogue says “did their souls brinng me closer to *the light* ?” possibly referring to The Radiance???
Am i the only one who think his animation look a lot more natural when sped up? Does it mean the original soul master was supoosed to be this but has been nerfed and then put back as the tyrant?
This video helped me beat soul tyrant better than any tutorial could. Just watching how you dealt with the patterns was a big help, thanks! The death animation did accidentally glitch for me but I was able to beat him a second time right after because I learned it so well thanks to this vid :)
I can easily get through his first phase now. After he crashes through the glass though I get wrecked. I had full health one time starting the second phase and then it all just melted away. So damn frustrating. I'll get him soon though.
Fun Fact: The Knight names bosses off of what they see. For example. The Collector is named that because The Knight sees the jars. And the Soul Master is named Soul Tyrant, after The Knight sees how many bodies are at the 2nd phase of the Soul Master.
i was able to beat him after just killing soul master and i only had one nail upgrade. His first phase isn't too bad. It is just an endurance run because he takes like 5-6 stuns to reach the second phase and than his second phase is a nightmare. In the first phase you get plenty of chances to heal if needed especially when he moves across the arena with 6 orbs, but in the second phase you will more than likely take a hit just after healing if not prior to finishing your focusing. His slams in the second phase are easy to dodge, but he has so much health when you only have one nail upgrade. I had to use the bonus damage when you are one hit from death to kill him. I used soul catcher and the charm that makes you do more damage when you are one hit from death.
I had just beaten him about 5 minutes ago, and seeing you beat him so fast astonishes me. Perhaps it was because I only had the first upgrade to the nail and I had crappy charms equipped (compass charm, charm that brings geos to you, and charm that gives more geos at kills). I should’ve went back to a bench and equipped proper charms, but at least it only took me 4 tries.
@@freptical Thanks! Some time ago, I actually became pretty good and went on my way to no-hit the Pure Vessel boss, which was my toughest achievement yet. Took me nearly 4-5 hours. 😅
Man this boss was hard but the second phase really hurt but other than that it was a challenging fight honestly I'm looking forward to harder dream bosses
Tips on how to dodge his "fake out" move: The second he appears on top make sure to dash away from him and jump, once he re-appears up, try your best to dash away while your mid air
This boss seemed impossible. Then I drank a bottle of wine. Easiest boss ever! Hahahaha! I can't believe it! I just kept him on my periferic vision and looked at that handsome knight we all love. Dodge, dodge, dodge, lel. I had so much fun! If you have shadow cloak thing, and he does that thing where he flies towards you with balloons flying about, jump in-between, slash up, and dash out of it. Cause the cloak makes it possible to not take damage. If you got hit in the fight, that's also a perfect time to heal after you do the maneuver that we were discussing. Just move towards the projectiles so they miss and regain that one health. ✌️
I almost beat him without taking damage, except the second phase that I tanked him. But is really different comparing my fight against Soul Master, that took me 7 tries and I was frustrating because I had lost 1000 geos (in the begging of the game is too much).
My recommendation is to use fragile strength, it makes the fight quite a bit shorter even with a low upgraded nail. Also first part can be cheesed fairly easily with grub song and quick focus as it is with most bosses.
Good charms: dashmaster: when he does his dive, dont jump, and dash normally, when he does his fakeout dive, you can dash a second time to escape quick slash: he moves a lot, so its good to give some hits before he teleports, especially in phase 2 where he stays stationary and throws fireballs at you longnail/mark of pride/ both: like quick slash, he moves alot, so you can hit him before he teleports, you can also hit him safely when he does desolate dive shaman stone: spells, especially when upgrade, do a good hell of damage,, so make them stronger with the charm and kill soul master there are prob better charms, chose these because i have them
Soul master/tyrant is actually my second favorite to grim. It's partially the atmosphere, but he also just has a kind of rhythm to his fight. Essentially, for every move he makes, you make a specific action to counteract it. Teleports above you? Dash away after he hovers up, and jump before he lands, double for tyrant. If he fakes out, dash again before you've either jumped or dash before you double jump if you're midair. You always want to leave a jump available for the wave, and try not to corner yourself. Whenever he teleports to the side of the arena on the ground, he's probably gonna ram, so wait for him to move and pogo over him. If he moves to the side of the arena in the middle of the screen, he's using the wheel ball attack. Jump over it once in the middle, and then stay there to avoid the rest, since it will never hit there on the return trip. As for his tracking balls, he'll immediately wind up one after a teleport, so unless he's right next to you, wait for him to fire. Best method is to stay low to the ground if he's above you so that you can dash under and it hits the ground. If he's firing from the side, jump over it once, then dash to avoid it as it roundabouts from above. Other than that, you should be able to hit him whenever he teleports and doesn't start an attack, and will usually have one opportunity per attack. Don't get greedy, don't put yourself in a bad position, and you should be fine.
GUYS. If you're gonna fight him, I'd advise these charms: Unbreakable Strength, Long Nail, Dashmaster, Thorns of Agony, and Grimmchild. He was a pain in the A to defeat. But I finally beat him with those charms.
a whole evening of grinding and all I did was dodge all his attacks perfectly and attack once in a while, after watching this video, tried the attacks, in my first attempt got destroyed cus I didn't have the timing right, the second one was better but still couldn't get past the first phase, in my third attempt this a piece of cake
Ridiculously fun boss fight. between having to move all across the arena to hit him, dodging his wide variety of attacks from peppering you with arcane magic, slamming into the ground, teleporting all over the place, and him just having enough of your bullshit and saying b*tch come over here as he fucking charges at you. I feel like I'm fighting an intelligent entity from start to finish, super challenging but so fun. Very proud of myself for killing him on my first ever attempt.
If you listen carefully during his tantrum, you can make out laughter in the background. To me, this indicates that the entire boss fight is supposed to be this great show he's performing, but instead, he gets his ass handed to him, and it becomes a comedy act instead. This is what makes him angry and go berserk.
It's basically just precision Take your time Don't get too greedy This video demonstrate it clearly It didn't even uses shade soul or even shaman stone at all
I did it after like 6 hours (skill issue lol), a tip i can give you is just spam dash on his 2nd phase and when he stops you need to look where the balls spawn, so it makes alot easier to you to dodge
Easier than Lost Killin. Although He becomes faster. He still has same pattern as souls master nothing change dracticly. As long as the boss isn't backed up with some coronavirus RNG attacks.
i beat him without taking damage and it probably would've felt like more of an achievement if it wasn't just something i did to take a break in my 7-8 hours total of attempts to do radiant nightmare king grimm and radiant pure vessel
