definitely, i think he was very smart in waiting a whole year to fight again after the max fight. recovered as much as he could and came back strong. respect to Giga, i hope he takes some time off and comes back stronger with this experience
He actually did slow down for a minute there in that round. I mean, it was gone when he stood up off the stool but for a second he had to catch a second wind. For literally a second
@@floatinggoose9197 Yeah he was definitely getting a little bit tired from landing all those punches but the thing is Kattar was even more tired and beaten up badly. He wasn’t really in the position to get back into that fight. It should have been stopped in round 4.
@@robertreynolds930 he was definitely looking past Kattar, and Kattar had a chip on his shoulder from that beatdown Max subjected him too. Like a real New Englander
Did kattar's cornermen tell him to "look for big shots, think cody" in between the 4th and 5th? Im assuming they were referring to Garbrandts KO of Assuncao?
Its so crazy to me how a guy like Kevin Lee is 5''9 and has a 77 inch reach, and Max is 5''11 with a 69 inch reach but the way Max uses his reach is way better
Its hilarious to see everyone riding kattars nuts on a video where he absorbed over 400 significant strikes. We get it, he beat Giga who gassed out in the first 5 minutes. Not really a legendary performance like everyones saying
@@joelsilfver1769 he doesn’t have that type of mindset he’s a fighter. That type of beating can be demoralizing and fuck with a fighters confidence. I’m happy that kattar bounced back in a big way
Calvin was light work for Max and we all thought he'd be his toughest match up. We all thought Max would kill Yair but Yair damaged Max more than Volk did despite still loosing. Mma is so damn unpredictable
Funny thing is too I think if Volko fights Yair he would win pretty dominantly. He's built like Frankie Edgar but he's better and we've seen how much Yair struggles against good grappling. Volk would probably maul him. MMA is weird
I’m 99 percent sure yair was juiced against max.. im a huge fan of yair as well but to have that much speed, power and aggression for 5 rounds against the highest volume striker ever.. is suspicious af
It felt like Kattar was using the same strategy as Holloway for his fight against Giga. A constant pressure, the entire fight, not letting the opponent recover.
Just goes to show that Max is just god tier and made Kattar look bad when kattar is actually a really good fighter . With no volk or max I think kattar has a good shot at being champ
Kattar is an absolute beast. Goes to show the greatness of Max. At this point he is the only threat to Volk at 145. But damn, after seeing where Volk is at with his last fight against TKZ......he is truly on another level. I wonder what a Max/Volk fight looks like in 2022.
I was worried for Max coming into this fight against a tactical boxer-puncher like Kattar, but dude I feared for Kattar's life at times in this fight man. Holy shit
Arguably imo, one of the best ufc fights I've ever saw, next to the blood bath we all are familiar with. Calvin was giving it his all and max was just 🤦🏻♂️ ultra instinct
this just came to me and is random as hell; but Calvin Kattar's best career move was not having a fighter nickname. It would most likely start with a K and hearing something like Calvin "Killer" Kattar doesn't really hit the right way. Yeah it'd be CKK but that's hella close to KKK and that's an alley you don't wanna walk through lol.
Yeah it was nasty. I think it would have been worse if Kattar didn't grab the back of Max's head after landing - I feel that it helped Max keep his balance.
