"Im the best boxer in the ufc baby" Saying that sentence while avoiding a punch and landing a side punch, at the same time talking shite to the commentary, was fucking magnificent x
Hes not. Truth be told if he and kattar only threw punches no elbows or kicks kattar would have done a LOT better. Max showed off the boxing when kattar was rounds after being done.
His take on sparring is exactly how ive always felt and dude it feels soooo good to see a successful athlete talk about protecting your body and still train efficiently
@james Nas i haven't, however i absolutely believe it. Ive observed this trend in some of the most successful fighters that they all seem to show moments of cte and thats exactly what led me to think i should never spar hard consistently. Its not worth it for me to risk my brain capabilities
I love how Max got more mental with his training. More people need to understand how much of an advantage a person can have from exercising their brains..in anything.
@@Eric42RandomVideos the old boxing rules before marquiss of queensbury rules were crazy. Rounds lasted until someone was knocked down and the downed fighters corner had 2 minutes to revive him. Cold water, smelling salts, a chug of whiskey, whatever it took to get the guy into the next round. And there was no limit on the number of rounds
Specifically remembered this scene in dbs from the goku black arc where trunks is sitting down and is fighting black all in his mind. Some type of mental training going on
This man is legendary. Like damn the life he’s lived is awesome. for him to still improve and thinking deeper on the mma game is crazy. Like he talked about the zoom experience and how he thought more about the fight outcome in his head. That’s so deep
This was the greatest performace i've seen in my life. I shit you not, i was sweating during the fight and had goosebumps for half an hour afterwards. Max put the "art" in martial arts that night!
Man, awesome MMA podcasts between Max and Dustin... Really wish the full episodes were still here on RU-vid so I could have looked through the comments and enjoyed the full Joe Rogan Experience :(
I lived in a camp in Thailand about 25 year ago and these guys didn't spar hard it was then i realised that these guys have had that many fights that by taking it easy they are just topping up there skills without getting damaged! These guys were light years in front of us and its only now we see it🤟
One of my favorite fights i have ever seen. Max is a great man, and so is Calvin Kattar, and that fight elevated both of their stock. Maxes performance elevated both of their stock. I'm so glad that fight was never stopped. This fight proves that a highlight k.o. isnt needed to make a great fight. In fact I would dare say that something like this fight is much better than any first round k.o. I've ever seen.
This is so smart, re: sparring and training/prep modeling for an opponent. Great point: it's easier to prep for a style if sparring and a spar partner not going hard.
@Rainbow Dirt funny. Last I remember McGregor was unconscious while Poirier is celebrating over him. Oh didn't Conor use his grappling to beat Max? Damn. Also Volk too. You're just a salty hater!
@Rainbow Dirt he did beat him with the hands. That counter literally landed in the opening 10 seconds and it was the counter hook that hurt Conor. The leg kicks were a factor but Poirer used his superior boxing and counter skill to beat Conor. That's facts. He literally hurt with his hands, it wasn't the calf kick that started the onslaught from Poirier. I've watched that fight 5 times and even Poirier corrected Joe on it that it was the counter that hurt him
I listen to joe when I'm at work on Spotify. If you have no job and sit around watching RU-vid all day I guess you'll shill for RU-vid and cry cause you don't want to make the little effort in downloading a free app and supporting your entertainment
@@Lopez-my1bo The beta male vibes of this comment is lowering the testosterone of every male on the planet. Please go get lost in a cave and don’t come out until you grow a full beard, so basically never.
I think after the interview that everyone showed concern on he really evaluated his training camp and took the sparring out. Looks like it was the smartest decision he ever made. He looks amazing.
Max been doing interviews All week, Joe does it the best by far! To hear Max talk about his views & perception on fighting was amazing! “I have a passport to crazy-land”
Smart. He knows what works for him and his team trusts him that he feels confident without having to spar constantly right up till the fight. Some fighters (probably most) need that consistent contact in the ring / octagon to stay sharp but he doesn’t and his team believes in him. He’s got an amazing trainer to have that amount of trust in him. Should never ever get rid of his trainer.
I’ve never ever seen anything like that before in my life wow is my exact reactions to that level and volume MAX had put out Much Aloha and Many Mahalo’z “ HAWAIIS CHAMP🤙
Max does this perfectly. He says no sparring at this point in his career is very helpful & he would recommend it but also adds in "you can spare all you want it's just my opinion" perfect way to explain it
Can I just say that Conor was one of the first guys to come out and say he didn't spar hard at all. He said something like "build my hardware and protect my software". Don't quote me on that but he said something similar.
That idea in the end is actually fucking incredible, I’ve thought of one pretty similar to it where there are no breaks/rounds to find out the superior fighter.
Dude. The fight their referencing was Amazing! Props to Max. Great interview and awesome fight. And massive thanks to Herb Dean for not calling the fight when he could have. He said "let me fight" and thanks for letting them Duke it out!
