RIP James.. Still can't get enough of this one... Thank you juniorfats for posting this one... Hollywood bringing in the thunder and James nailing it every which to Sunday..
I saw Hollywood Fats and Bob Margolin together in the Muddy Waters band just before Fats quit. The band here is adequate, but I think he needed a drummer who could do more than just keep a beat. And I miss hearing a pianist playing chords behind him while he solos. This is so far my favorite Fats video. The tone he gets is more or less identical to what he got on his solo album. It’s a damn shame he got messed up with drugs and died at the age of 32 not long after he got the gig with The Blasters. I remember how upset I was when I heard the news. Unfortunately none of my fellow guitar players had ever heard of him. I’m just glad I caught him that night at UMass Amherst playing with Muddy.
James Harman is, in my humble opinion, the sweetest and nastiest and flat out best blues singer of all time. For my money. This clip should be in some Hall Of Fame somewhere. Thanks. Wish I had me a time machine.
baliscotsurf - Fats actually had 2 pedals that he used often: 1 - accelerator pedal 2- brake pedal Both were used frequently after gigs to purchase late-night tacos in mass quantities.
