These shows are an excellent time capsule of the era.

After "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" became a success, she began to demonstrate her singing and dancing abilities on various variety shows- including this one.

Barry I. Grauman she was very talented and of course, one of the most beautiful women of her (or any) day.

Really? I saw several folks laughing. But, yep, they might have edited a laughtrack into it a bit. See, people back then did not just swooningly, fawningly approve of everything a celeb did on stage, unless of course, the audience members were 14.

Yeah, so Welky, actually not using gimmicks and no substance flash, just talent, what was she thinking? She wasn't singing live. Notice she didn't have a microphone and a boom microphone wasn't following her around.

Most tv performances prerecorded their singing.

She did, but I did not know that she was such a smooth dancer. I do believe though, that she was originally a dancer. Back then with few exceptions, you had to do more than one thing to be successful in showbiz. You would be surprised at how many talents actors, and TV folks had back then, ones they had to exhibit off camera in order to move in front of the camera. Very few back then made it big before 35.
