I get the feeling Claude got it but tries to play it smooth, not knowing if Holst is aware of his deepest secret or not. It's possible that Holst got to know or even theorised himself that Claude is the elusive prince Khalid... but tries to make Claude admit to it without being too rude. Sure thing he has faith in Claude as a leader; he knows that Claude will make sure that Hilda is okay no matter that the future reserves for her, he's a good big brother.

@@missquark_ I'm pretty sure holst doesn't know it but when he said "the next king of almyra", he indirectly refers to claude since claude (Khalid) is soon to be the king of almyra and it throw off claude's guard. He tried to act cool about it and call himself "hypothetical heartthrob" and stated that he won't stop her (which make it seem like he doesn't have any problem with marrying hilda too)

If we're thinking like nobles do, the marriage between Hilda and Claude would do wonders for Almyra and the Alliance. House Goneril border Almyra and fight them off regularly. A marriage between a Goneril child and an heir to the Almyran family would be a strategic peace offering for an alliance between them.

Claude has no romantic chemistry with Byleth. They're more professional psrtners than romantic partners. And this coming from someone who adores Claude and would date him in a heartbeat.

Claude may flirt with byleth the whole houses game but his relationship with hilda feels more natural than byleth. They legit can compliment/teasing each other without feeling embarrassed or shy

I am too, it just doesn't seem to fit him. I'm also very confused as to why he is dressed like a warrior, has always been spoken about as if he fights with his fists but it a sword master in the game.
