I have had the Holstery Joey Pouch for awhile but recently picked up the Diamondback DB Sax Pouch.
I like them both, but for different things... My idea behind this video is to try and help you figure out if one might be best for you, both, or neither.
Hope it was useful & THANKS FOR WATCHING!

Just picked up a mini sax for low voltage termination stuff, love it so far, seems more rigid than the db sax.

Joey Pouch all the way! There's no comparison. It's a far superior product to the other pouch.

I feel for only a $2 price difference you are right. I do like the Diamondback for bigger fasteners which is what I bought it for… that and I was just curious 😂

I picked up a Joey a few weeks ago as a woodworking pouch and love it. Comes on and off super quick and lightweight. Pretty sure it first saw it from you!

Yeah I really like them… so much I bought a second one after having it about a month. I saw the Diamondback one and curiosity caught me 😂. I was mostly wanting to see how it would work for bigger fasteners (which I think it is good for. I started to get a Big Joey but haven’t yet.

I have the Joey and live that thing. Been using for a year and it’s great. What you said with everything is right on , and I had the same thoughts. Only thing is I wish clip was metal. I had mine for about 6 months or so and (I’m a big guy) and using it on my belt the clip broke. I emailed them and asked for replacement clip and the sent it very quick. You can also take that clip and Gaurd and put it in your pocket it hangs right.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Год назад
Yeah I clip mine in my pocket sometimes too. That’s what I like most about it, it is a pouch that just easy grab and go. Don’t have to get out a belt or my vest. I think they have started using metal clips on their newer “pro” models.

Great comparison between the two. I really like the Joey pouch though I have 2 of the original, one Joey pro and a big Joey

Yeah I would only use the Diamondback for fasteners… I feel the Joey is more versatile.
@paulfox9904

I have both, and both have a place. The DB I added a carabiner to the D ring that I clip on a belt loop to stabilize it. Then I can drop several 10 inch Knipex pliers in there and it doesn't dump out.

Good suggestion 👍 I normally only use for fasteners, but occasionally I have used them for tools when going in a crawlspace or attic. The drawstring is nice for that.

I own the 2 sizes of the Joey pouch and I actually cut off the drawstring feature, the extra fabric gets in the way
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Год назад
So did you cut that loose fabric out.. I had thought about doing that to one of mine but was afraid it was tied in somehow that it would ruin it.

Thanks, this is the review I was looking for. Too bad the Joey is like CAD$73 on Prime when it should be like $43 on a straight conversion.

I just got some Joey Version 2 Pro bags… I feel like they are worth the few extra dollars, but you can only get them on the Holstery Website. There is also a DBSax2 that I haven’t tried yet.

Nice comparison video. They are quite a price in the UK for what they are so I have never purchased one as I can't really justify a use.

Yeah I think they are both made in the USA products so I’m sure it’s a little more costly for you… Appreciate you watching 👍

The Joey pouch is basically a climbing chalk bag, works great for dipping your fingers into for some extra grip, not so great when you're trying to extract spiky screws.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Год назад
It’s not horrible, but that extra material that allows you to close it does hang up from time to time. I’ve been surprised it hasn’t ripped up yet. It’s definitely worse on longer screws (less of a window to not catch) which is what I bought the DB Sax for to try out. Even with the flaw, I do like the Joey Pouch better just for the stiffness… but you are right, I’m sure they got the idea from a climbing chalk bag.

I've never used any of those. I wear Snickers work trousers that have all the pockets I need. But surely these pouches have some advantages over the regular pockets. Very informative video. BTW, have you thought about making your own pouches?
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Год назад
I like them. I use the Holstery one a lot when I only need one fastener. I can use it instead of wearing a belt or my vest. Then I can just take it on/off when I’m not using it. I almost always only use them for fasteners or electrical connectors. I do like the “close” feature for attics and crawlspaces too.. I forgot to mention that.

I'm a foam sculptor and fabricator and my tools have weird shapes, and I can't have the 'wide hips' of a standard tool bag since it catches on sculptures and damages them. Looking into holstery modular system but probably gonna have to DIY my own attachments

I really like most of their products so far. They just came out with some Version 2 Joey pouches. I’m not 100% sure on the differences. I’ve ordered on to check it out.

Anyone concerned about the Joey's inner high-viz fabric getting in the way might try inserting an appropriately sized (topless) metal or plastic can. It would add very little weight, compared to the weight of just a bag and its fasteners, and further remove any concerns about sharp things wearing through the 1000D.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Год назад
Good idea 👍.. if I could find something I would probably just leave one of my two that way. I really only use the drawstring for storing… and occasionally crawling in a crawlspace or attic. Not a lot while actually using it.
@OnusBones
@OnusBones 3 месяца назад
That's an excellent idea. Even something like a leather cup or even a Dixie cup would prevent snagging and still let the drawstring work.

Do you know which one would be better for holding a 32oz Nalgene bottle?
@MORGANSMaintenance

I don’t know about that bottle exactly, but the DiamondBack may be better, I would assume a 32oz is a taller bottle.
