Glad you finally made it to Thailand! Wow that is cheap. In Pattaya I pay 400-600 for an air conditioned hotel room and there is so much to do, with Koh Larn island right by there for 30 baht for a boat ticket to get there ($1)!

@@MyLifeThai371 When I was there the beaches were so polluted with garbage it was terrible. And the only single women were all the prostitutes. I bounced straight to Koh Chang. But I've heard there's more to Pattaya than hookers. Maybe I'll go back and check it out again.

How do you get to Koh Phangan Island?

From Surat Thani airport you take a cheap bus or less cheap taxi to the ferry. The ride to the ferry from the airport is 40 minutes. Then there's a long ferry ride. Several hours. By train it's the same thing.

eek! What a Tourist trap. Hardly any beach and the little beach you do have is expoited by the hotels. Probably have to pay just to sit down. Why book a week advance? Now you are stuck there. I never book in advance. You probably could have got that nice place for 400-500 baht.
