In this video I end up finding one of my two video game related holy grail items, which is a Vetrex Home Arcade console. This is a retro video game system from 1982 with very cool vector based graphics. It actually came with a built-in game called “Mine Storm” which the seller demonstrates in this video before we completed our transaction. These systems generally go for anywhere between $500 and $800 CAD but can cost you considerably more if you want one with the original box.
Sadly, the Vectrex came out just before the video game crash in the early 80’s so unfortunately it didn’t see the success that it deserved. Although the system didn’t have many official games, apparently there is a fan base that still supports it with 3rd party home brew titles to this day. At the moment, the only game that I have picked up since buying the console is a car racing game called called “Hyperchase”, which looks terrific with the vector graphics.
