West Point cadets are a most fortunate group, to be able to hear your inspiring musical efforts on this mighty organ inside that magnificent granite church. And you, sir, are an ornament to that old and venerable American institution.

Here in America...back in the 1950s and 60s when you heard this hymn it felt truly like church. Of course I like other hymns from the 1400s thru the 1800s. Especially Genevan Psalter from mid 1500s.

This hymn is one we go to most early in the academic year - when many cadets and others are being introduced to traditional worship music in the service. It still resonates with a lot of people - bold direct melody and harmony, and a clear doxological message.

Huge fan of the chamade Trumpets and an even bigger fan of what I affectionately call the Hollywood key change. Thanks so much for sharing Craig.

Fortunately the carpal tunnel surgeries were successful, so I don't have to wear those braces any more.

That is amazing!! I've been playing the piano since I was 13, but am now 30, and wanting to take organ lessons. I memorize all of the songs I play before I play them, so it's nice to see someone else do that for a change!

You play beautifully. That organ sounds amazing. I hope you've healed and are playing without any pain. Enjoy.

The Cadet Chapel organ is the world's largest in a house of worship - numbering 23,511 pipes over 355 ranks, 18 divisions. The console is 4 manuals, because the organists have always conducted the choir from the console.

I had the great pleasure of touring the chapel at my father's reunion there 3 years ago. Unfortunately, we were not able to hear the organ but I did get lots of pictures! I so wish I had been able to hear you play it in person. I am a great fan of the pipe organ. I've played the piano all my life and have never actually had the opportunity to play a real pipe organ. Thank you for the music!

Did I miss something Craig. What is with wrists?

This was June 2018, after a bad car accident in early February of that year. I had had ongoing bilateral carpal tunnel issues for years, and the accident only exacerbated those issues along with some tendinitis caused by the airbag deployment. In consultation with an orthopedic surgeon, I have since had two successful carpal tunnel release surgeries and have full pain-free use of both hands and wrists. I have not had to wear these bands now for the last couple of years.
