Jugg into wyvern is OK, your spin can still do good damage to enemies in Wyvern's cold embrace. That being said, Omnislash is countered and you can't spin + TP as easily

Buyback is great, the only thing they should change is that your TP after buyback takes twice as long.

starving your enemy team for farm forces them to choose between items or buyback though, it's also effectively an aegis you pay for if you think about it. i think it's appropriately used since in many ways it's just another way for cores to spend their farm. i think of buyback as a teamfight item. against many heroes, you can only buyback against them, because their spells are so strong. what i'd like to see is less emphasis on status effects and bkb-piercing items and abilities, but every single aspect of the game is getting optimized in these higher level games, so their use of these advanced tactics like buying back instead of fully committing for counter initiation is just min-maxing gold. players are always going to find strats like this regardless of how many are negated

Yeh I agree. "New" buyback system is shithouse. Totally ruins the game in my opinion. Buyback is supposed to be a "last ditch, late game, hail mary" type of play to save your throne... But these days it's just like: "oh damn it's 15 mins in and I just played badly and died in a teamfight, but no biggie, I'll just buyback since there is basically zero punishment to it anymore". Essentially buyback now just punishes the team that ACTUALLY played better and won the first teamfight. Recently I feel like the dev team is just trying to introduce complexity for the sake of complexity because they are terrified of people getting bored and leaving the game.

@@TeleClassy2 the thing is that even when you are starving the enemy and forcing them inside your base, you still have to choose between items and buyback. Its just not a decision, you HAVE to keep buyback just in case something goes wrong, its the equivalent of a "get out of jail for free" card in monopoly. You fix any mistake, and it doesn't have a real consequence becouse you never had spent that gold in the first place, so it never had an impact. When buyback had a lot of penalties, those that existed a few years back (no farming unreliable gold /30% less gold) buyback wasn't really into play untill really late into the game, now you even see carries buying back 3 mins into the game because they got killed and the wave is into their tower, so the buyback, farm that wave and make profit, minimizing the consequences of that mistake that would be death as a core 3 mins into the game. Dota is a game that has a ton of strategy and making the most of what you have. Mistakes give the enemy oportunities, and if they take those you will get punished, and as a consequence the rest of your team gets punished by being in a 4v5 situation. Buyback negates that. You can make much riskier plays becouse there is much less of a consequence. You make a really good point, but I'm not sure about how much I agree with it

@@Tarmin_ i was coached by a much higher ranked player who introduced me to the concept of simply not saving buyback. i learned that if you don't have buyback saved after a certain point in the game, you're throwing, which burned into me for over 7k hours before this guy helped me visualize exactly how and why buyback needs to be saved and used. its because of his coaching that i realized buyback is just another item, if the same resource is used to purchase both, since you're otherwise going to spend that gold on an item. ultimately, i view it entirely as another aspect of the game you can manipulate and don't see why it can't be viewed as two things - an early game midas: buyback at 3 minutes to profit nearly nothing from one wave but earn xp to level up, while midas trades early gpm advantage for xpm, exact same thing but different scales and optimal timeframes. could also be an aegis: make a mistake or generate information just like feeding an obs under a smoke. difference is the value, but the resource is the same. compare feeding a pos5 for a triple kill, or feeding a pos5 for free after realizing your mistake walking into an enemy team. it's almost their role now, but buybacks on low networth teammates are cheaper, making them even better to sacrifice or "buy". consequences are ultimately the same imo, there are just more variables
