Translation of the poem (Che Danestam): How could I know? This desire would drive me so insane, Turn my heart into an inferno, Flood my eyes with a deluge -------------------------------------------- How could I know? A torrent Would carry me so sudden And Throw me like a ship Amidst an ocean of blood And strike that ship with a wave That would break every plank And each plank would fall In divergent spins -------------------------------------------- A leviathan would then raise its head And drink all the water And such endless ocean Would turn dry like a desert -------------------------------------------- When these changes came to pass Neither ocean remained nor desert And I know not why For this uncertain is drowned in the absolute -------------------------------------------- Questions are abound Yet I know none For I drank in this sea, a morsel From the opiate of silence (RUMI)

This poem is by Rumi, experts think about what he is saying for years and years and everyone comes up with different answers, some say that this poem is describing a person who is trying to know god, and his whole life (the ocean) gets devistated after knowing just a little bit, all his beliefs (the ship) fall down, and his life turns into a desert and he gets pulled into insanity, and as u told song is somehow confusing and hypnotising to give u a little bit of the confusion and etc. that the guy mentioned above is feeling
@PD-kn3vb
@PD-kn3vb 3 года назад
Thanks Reza jan for your Explanations, i guess he meant this is somehow hypnotising, cause Homayoun sing the float grab me and he said no man your sound grab me, somehow pictured his sound as a float.

Since I speak Persian, I'd like to tell you something that might improve the translation. First, many of the Persian poems are metaphorical, making even native speakers interpret them differently. I reckon the title must be read as "how should I have known?". For example, the first verse will be something like this "How should I have known that this love would bring me such a misery and pain?".

Hi, he has got a very trained voice as well as beautiful, one can imagine. This style of traditional Persian singing is called "Tahrir" which is basically trembling& shaking the voice with element of melancholy in it. I don't quite know exact synonym for it in English. I suppose there is no similar style in classical music when you listen to tenors like pavarotti. The poem is from Rumi the renown persian spiritual poet of 13th century. Although you dont understand Persian language but your reaction & analogy of this song/artist tells otherwise & a lot. Well done

in Persian culture, there are two teams, knowledge and love, and the highest level of knowledge is to know and believe in God, and the highest level of all love is to love God. our poetry have mostly spiritual meaning, and are very deep, and complex, and as I said before it get lost in translation, so if you are not born and rise in this culture and are not fa miler with language in deeper level its hard to reach the feeling that this music and poetry can offer.

The poem of this work is by Maulana (Rumi), a famous Iranian poet and mystic who migrated to the West and Turkey after the Mongol invasion of Iran. And because he lived and died in Turkey, the Turks consider him a native of Turkey. He does not have a poem in Turkish. And it does not have a single couplet of poetry in Turkish. And all his poems are in Persian. Even his teachers were Iranian. But unfortunately, because the Europeans and Americans have little information about him, they were deceived by Turkey and registered Maulana(Rumi) as Turkey and a Turkish poet !!!! However, Maulana (Rumi) and his thoughts know no boundaries and belong to all of humanity. One of his teachings is to live in the moment. This means "treasure of presence". Singer Homayoun Shajarian is a singer of traditional Iranian music and it is a unique work that only artists and musicians understand its value. If you understand the meaning of poetry, you will go crazy and head to the mountains and the desert. So much so that this poem is valuable and meaningful. Rumi speaks of the unknown, that everything he has discovered and learned, he has just realized that he does not know anything ... Rumi's purpose in expressing this poem is in fact to face the unanswered questions that arise for every human being in the universe. What distinguishes this poem from the rest of Rumi's poems is the philosophical expression of the world and much more difficult questions about existence and non-existence, and that this helpless man, even in his most advanced form, carries a backpack of unanswered questions. And this is the human ignorance of the various phenomena and truths of this universe, which he says in poetry. Mustapha from Iran❤❤❤🌳🌳🌺🌺🌳🌳❤❤❤🌻🌻🌴🌴🌷🌷🌿

This is about life . Rumi is trying to say that he could have never imagined life would put him through such trials and tribulations . When he says : I didn’t know that I was would be thrown into an ocean on a ship and the waves would rip the ship apart into pieces of wood twirling and a giant whale would drink all the water of the ocean ? There are many unknowns in life and I went through so many heart aches. Rumi ( molana) was a philosopher. He’s so deep and is questioning our existence . Homayoon brings it into a different level with the composition and his up and down voice . It’s a very sad yet beautiful way of questioning the unknowns . We all want to know why ? The questions ! And some of us turn to God , some become spiritual , some believe once we die that the end and there is no God , some are agnostics . I personally believe that there is a God and converted to Christianity. Because Jesus was LOVE . I’d rather believe in pure love , unconditional love toward anyone like the way my dog loves me no matter what . He’s loyal and loving even when I’ve been somewhat not so nice to him , he loves me . He has taught me to love love love and has changed me in so many ways . Life is unpredictable even if and when we do everything right . When we think , speak or do unkind and deceitful things , we all pay the price 10 fold . Being kind when others are hurting you is difficult isn’t it ? But if one reaches a high level of consciousness, then and only then one can forgive, and love others unconditionally
