I am not a hoarder, but I love hoarding different things. One of them being Vintage sarees and saree bits. I wanted to turn them into some home decor accessories that can be preserved forever.
Saree framing idea is 👍, but covering simple note books not worthy. Can cover bhagavadgita, ramayan like books , covering book box, jewellery box gives more value
Since these sarees are worn, I know there will be so many people who will be offended if I cover a Bhagwat Gita with it. My mom and my husband will be the first. But yes, a jewelry box would be great. I will try to find one. Thank you for the suggestions.
This will work for sarees that are not falling apart. For the ones that are fraying, turning them into home decor that is used or handled every day, they will fray more.
Thank you so much ❤️ you have no idea how supported this makes me feel. I sometimes find my ideas silly, but I know there is someone out there who will like them, so I post it anyway. Thank you again. 💓
I have sarees of my mother and grandmother who are both deceased. I would love more ideas of framing them . can you share more and frame ideas where you can change the sarees in the frame from time to time
Very beautiful! I've been searching around for elegant ways to resure pattu sarees and your ideas are great! Please post more ideas where a grand traditional pallu can be reused.
Such beautiful fabric pieces covered for trashy notebooks...😢very sad ...I have photo framed my grandmothes and mother's sarees now It proudly adorns the walls of our house and no I have not cut them ....I folded them in such a way that the beautiful design part is highlighted....
Its wonderful that you have been able to frame your maternal sarees. The purpose of these videos is to turn ideas into action ans in the process spark more ideas. And I don't find school notebooks trashy. They are affordable and accessible to most people.
I have restored old banarasi or any other saree which have great sentimental value... The borders nd pallus can b highlited nd repaired nd then can b transfered on a new fabric of ones choice. choice.
Such lovely ideas. I've been hanging onto some really old sarees of my mother and grandmother and was trying to come up with ideas for them. Instead of book covers which will last only as long as there's space to write in them, why not add the fabric to file covers. Those are longer lasting.
Good video on sticking fabric on paper. But the results good be more sophisticated. Specially notebooks: the fabric would collect so much dirt. Would have had a thin layer of plastic or something else to protect it. Combination of a western teddy bear and silk is also weird.
Won't the fabric become rough/thick because of the glue...? Was wondering if hemming it to the cardboard would be a better option? As usual! Love your videos! 😊
Yes it will. But also these are sarees that are falling apart. And having them evenly glued to a surface keeps the structural integrity of the piece. Hemming them could work, but could also sag and crumble I feel. But worth a try.
I understand what you mean. But fusing needs medium to slightly high heat. Pure silk needs low heat, and I feel the heat will be too much for it to fuse. I will try for sure.
