Hi Steph thank you so much for this video, It's always a treat for our eyes. I have never seen an Incrediball hydrengeas in blush color and a candytuft other than white, oh! that will look spectacular in the garden. I always get jealous of the varieties of plants you get in US and at those prices 😊 Steph why do you have a rocky relationship with roses, Is it a specific variety of roses you had trouble with or all varieties ? I have heard grafted plants/trees should be planted for 1 zone lower as they tend to be less hardy than noted. Has anyone else heard this or have experience with this?

A few years ago I had a white Gaura that grew taller than my Nissan Versa-it was wide, also. But the next year it didn't do so well for some unknown reason. Using Gaura now as the thriller in very large container with some annuals.

I love The look of Gaura but for some reason mine did not come back this year. I just planted them last summer.

Do you use a landscape app to see how to arrange all these plants?
@HookedandRooted
@HookedandRooted Год назад
Hi Tanaya, I don't. I just place things around the garden and move them around in the pots until I like the arrangement. Then, once I find a spot I'm happy with, I plant them. Hope this helps 😊

How much water do newly planted Hydrangeas require? Will I get any blooms the first year a lime light is planted?
@jenniferhooks2454
@jenniferhooks2454 Год назад
The box stores in your area seem to have a really good selection. I couldn't believe the price on the Limelight hydrangea standards. You will enjoy the Korean spice viburnum. In full bloom, they smell heavenly, almost good enough to eat.
@HookedandRooted
@HookedandRooted Год назад
Hi Jennifer! I know right?! they have the best prices on those limelight standards. The ones I planted about 2 years ago were only $59.99, last year they were 69.99, and this year, they are already 89.99. So while the price has increased over the last few years, they are still much less than at some nurseries. Oh yay! I'm so glad to have found that shrub, its been on my wish list. I sniffed it at a friends garden, and I was hooked!

Thank you for all your beautiful walk throughs, this is the second time I've watched this one. Big Question, I have a hydrangea, probably had it for 20 years or more.i bought it at my local lumber yard. They use to sale a few plants. I gave 8 dollars for it. I think it is an oakleaf, could you tell me why it blooms in blue, pink purple, cream and green.❤
@HookedandRooted
@HookedandRooted Год назад
Hi Judy! You're so welcome! I'm glad you enjoy them. As for your hydrangea, that is quite interesting! I'm going to guess that this is a mophead type (macrophylla type), and the color on those will largely depend on the acidity of your soil. If your soil is more acidic, you get more blue hydrangeas. If your soil is more alkaline, you get more purple/pink. As for the cream and green, I'm not sure where that is stemming from. Hope this helps.

I just started watching your videos and I love them, thank you. My problem is deciding where to place plants. Although I get the tall ones in the back, short in the front idea, somehow I just never seem to get it right😂I don’t know why. I have rhododendrons that are too tall and an evergreen that does nothing for my little bed. I need serious help🤣 I am a true novice and everything I see on your videos looks stunning and I want them all. I think that’s my problem. I will keep watching your videos.

I just went to Hobby Lobby looking for some late summer mark downs, esp. since this summer hasn’t been that great for planting. The garden center was packed. The one thing missing was mark downs. They would rather write off the plants as a loss rather than give mark downs.

Hello from Australia Your videos and gardening story are very encouraging. I was surprised to see that Lantana is being sold in pots over there! Here it is a category 3 restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act and Lantana can't be given away, sold, or released into the environment. That applies to all 1400 species! There was an Australian movie called Lantana, they chose that name because the plant is quite nice on the surface, but is a 'tangle of dead wood on the inside', referring to certain relationships in the film.
@HookedandRooted

I have heard that from many people about lantana. Actually I was in Portugal this summer, and the same thing with lantana there. Its invasive and grows wildly on the side of the roads. Thanks for sharing, and for watching from Australia!

I just found out about the Korean spice vibernem . I was at the shopping mall and they had several there that filled the whole parking lot and I didn’t know what the smell was coming from so I found it and snapped off a little bit , came home and searched the internet and found out that’s what it was! Amazing smelling flowers. But… we had a frost, I think it got down to like 30’ and it damaged a lot of the leaves and the flowers. So I don’t believe it’s hardy down to negative 20 because it is under cover mostly right in front of the stores. I would put mine in more protected area.

Hi Steph! Happy shopping 😊 - score on the Korean spice viburnum!! I’m also obsessed with smoke bushes - I now have 3, one in each of my main garden beds in my back yard - royal purple, Grace, and golden spirit - I HIGHLY recommend all 3!! Their leaves glow in the light like stained glass windows ❤️
