Hi Steph, always enjoy your garden center tours. This month some of the pricing on perennials makes you think twice before putting them in your cart. I like to shop the marked down (rescue) trolleys once the rush is over. I’ll be at Lowe’s this weekend to check out the coleus for sure.

You’re Lowe’s and Home Depot garden centers are so much nicer than the ones in my area. I’m so impressed at what you have available at your “big box” stores! We’re in same zone… but other side of the country.

Hi Beckie! we are very lucky. I'm close enough to 3-4 home depots and lowes. I visit each pretty regulary during the growing season. I'm sorry yours aren't as good.

LOWES SUCKS!!! First, they delivered a broken drier. They picked it up July 21st and the driver said I would get money within 48 hours. This was first lie. The customer service said refund by August 9th (LIE #2), she also said she put in for warranty refund (lie #3). August 11th, I go to store where I bought drier, was told money would be there today or tomorrow. (lie #4). Its now been 22 days since they picked up their broken drier and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY REFUND!!! Luckily, I'm in a place in my life where I was able to buy another drier from Home Improvement. But, when I was younger and raising 4 kids this kind of criminal behavior would have caused serious damage to my quality of life. So I hope everyone understands when I say. LOWES SUCKS!!!

Thanks again Steph for such detail and taking the time to show us what's up at the garden centers! I always appreciate Proven Winners showing us the zone range - most of the other tags just show the cold tolerance but not the heat zone.

@@HookedandRooted I promise they look so dang good. So much so I spent months trying to figure out which ones I purchased to buy more. My 4th year with it appear to be thinner than it was previous years. I am hoping thats just because I slacked on weeding this year.

@HookedandRooted
@HookedandRooted Год назад
Hi Kim, I agree. I think it depends on region. It seems Monrovia is farther from us here in the northeast, so it likely takes shipping and distance into cost, price of transport etc. Monrovia plants on the west coast, are probably more affordable. For us, Proven Winners is more reasonable it seems.

Then Salvia which I can also get a long bloom season out of by pruning it back after the first flush of blooms. I don't have veronica/speedwell in my garden yet, but hope to try it soon!

Rabbits don't eat the fescue in my yard and I wouldn't care if they did because it grows back within two weeks time. The serious downside of fescue is that after a few years it will spread everywhere out of control and create many small grasses which don't look great. Some people are also allergic to grasses. Fescue is also very common and not terrible interesting in my opinion.
