Well the part where you said when the deep neck flexors stop working, This makes sense I had pretty intense pain in my scaling and my SCM muscles I wasn’t sure if they were weak or if they were spasming. And then around my collarbone started to ache because my muscles were acting weird and then my upper traps were constantly engaged for over a month and all of us ended up causing numbing pain throughout my upper back and neck until I finally got physical therapy and they dug in there released some spots and also started exercising what I needed to

Thank you for all your videos but particularly for these cervical related. I have following you for a couple of years and really enjoy the way you approach things from a real life therapists point of view. At the moment most of my elderly clients are in self isolation. I am using the time revisit my existing knowledge and learn some new techniques. Healthy Regards from the UK. Sally

My friend has a disc in her neck which is a bit in her throat. She also has cerebral palsy. Would this be good for her? Unfortunately even with the diagnosis she was pushed to the wall with contributions being emotional-not new of course with a patient's problem.

How do you feel about using a traction device for strengthening? I used used an over the door traction about 20 years ago on advice from my then doctor and what I was experiencing at the time did go away and I improved immensely. Only no one mentioned to me about fixing my bad posture, forward head etc.. so now I’m trying to strengthen my neck/shoulders. Just curious what you think.
@physiorehab
@physiorehab 2 года назад
Traction is mobility and relief, not strengthening
@lw7654
@lw7654 2 года назад
@@physiorehab thank you for your reply. With all do respect I don’t necessarily agree with your comment , at least for me. Like I had mentioned previously, I improved after using it. I had neck pain about 20 years ago. My neurologist did an MRI of my thoracic and cervical area and said nothing was wrong and that I should go get a traction machine and use it twice daily for six weeks. After four weeks this discomfort/pain had disappeared. I assumed it strengthened my neck muscles, he probably thought they were weak. I never had issues again until this past year. Thank you

How often should you do the stretches? Reps etc?
@physiorehab

depends on how much relief you need. Sometime 2-3 sessions a day if need be, working 2-3 sets x 10 reps each session

Kindly help Doctor, Please have a look on these spine mri findings and suggest ------- Whole spine screening: Cervical spine: Loss of cervical lordosis. Anterior marginal osteophytes at C4, C5. Diffuse disc bulge at C4-C5, C5-C6 & C6-C7 causing anterior thecal sac indentation. Dorsal spine: T2 hyperintensity noted at D4, D9 - likely haemangiomas. Disc desiccatory changes at multiple levels. Schmorl's node at the inferior endplate of D11. Mild disc bulge at D1-D2 causing anterior thecal sac indentation. Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at D10-D11 causing posterior thecal sac indentation. Lumbar spine: Modic changes noted at inferior end plate of L3. Schmorl's node seen at inferior end plate of L1, both end plate of L2, L4, superior end plate of L3. Loss of central T2 hyperintensity of IV discs s/o dessication is noted at all levels. Diffuse disc bulge causing anterior thecal sac indentation at L2-L3. Diffuse disc bulge causing bilateral mild neural foramina narrowing at L3-L4. Diffuse disc bulge causing bilateral moderate neural foramina narrowing at L4-L5. Diffuse disc bulge causing posterior annular tear, moderate spinal canal narrowing and bilateral mild neural foraminal narrowing at L5-S1 We really need your suggestion, my mother is experiencing unbearable pain(neck moments are restricted, Pain in both left and right hands)

So it took my doctor for months before actually getting me an MRI to find out that I have discourages in my cervical spine C6 and C7‘s. And a little bit in C5 I believe. My pain is no longer as horrible as it was in December but it did seem to spread to my ribs causing issues there. I’m worried that because I didn’t know I had this bulges that I may have made them worse until I found out. Can you please tell me is there anything I should avoid doing with cervical disc bulges until they heal?

when my C6-C7 disc gets triggered... I cannot lie down on my back and cannot sleep on my front or sides. I literally have to sleep sitting up for 2 weeks while it gets better. Over the door (or any type of) traction causes pain to intensify (or maybe just in that moment of traction?). The pain radiates around my scapula down my left arm and sometimes a bit of pectoral tension too. Any tips?

Hey, my MRI report said I have mild posterior bulge at c6/c7. My physiotherapist told me similar exercises and I'm following them. But how to sit while studying or writing? I become conscious while flexing my neck thinking that I'm worsening the condition. Can you tell how to sit while studying or writing and not worsen the bulge?

Make sure you have done the workstation ergonomic set up correctly first (I have done a video for this), but looking down writing and reading is certainly tough. Perhaps you could do standing and read on screen where possible?
