This group is 100% acapella. No one can beat Boys II Men, but Home Free did it justice. It was a gamble to cover such an iconic song, but they did it well. This group leans country, but can sing anything. You need to check out When A Man Loves a Woman for some amazing vocals. You could go through their list and pick any song for spectacular vocals and great entertainment. I do understand what you said. Some songs are difficult to cover, but all things considered, they did a good job with it. Don't give up on 'em!
In terms of 'covers' for End Of The Road... They definitely have one of the better ones. Boyz II Men as a group of FOUR were just absolutely incredible... So it's just an impossibly hard song for other groups to compete especially in the R&B domain lol. If you haven't already heard of these guys, there is a group that can definitely do Boyz II Men covers justice. They're called Ahmir.... Unfortunately, their group is not fully intact anymore. They had a good go for about 10+ years. The On Bended Knee and Water Runs Dry covers are beautiful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DnU5ryajwQY.html - On Bended Knee
@@markshanahan8147 Your not wrong... this cover is a great track as a stand alone track. but you put it next to the original and it just doesnt meet or exceed. doesnt make this track bad, its just not gonna replace the original on my playlists.
@@tehs3raph1m Sorry, are you referring to the Home Free version or the Ahmir one that I linked in my first comment? I pretty much agree to what you stated for both... except I think Ahmir's cover is damnnn close to sounding like Boyz II Men :P
Shawn Stockman , when they were on The Sing Off (&Won‼️)…he loved these guys, particularly Austin Brown, (the high tenor) he said his voice is like BUTTAH‼️👍‼️. They did this song Justice ‼️.
All a cappella so no instruments. Rob (lead here) and the beatboxer (Adam) killed it. They were on the NBC show the Sing Off (they won in 2013) and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men was a judge and he loved them. I think they wanted to do right by him. Home Free is amazing. They can all sing and all take the lead depending on the song. The bass can go super low but also sing up in the tenor range. Hope you do more Home Free. Butts Medley is so funny but they sound so good. You might like that.
This video is a perfect example of why I want to see your reactions! You give an honest response, indicating that they are lacking something, BUT you are actively CHEERING for them to succeed. Love to see it.
I'm wondering if Stevie realized there are no instruments here, only vocals...? Also, Shawn Stockman absolutely loves Home Free and thinks Tim (the bass) is the best he's heard since Michael McCary... You should check out their cover of When a Man loves a Woman
I'm certain he does know there are no instruments there lol... It's just REALLY hard to cover one of the most popular R&B songs of all time by one of the GREATEST R&B groups and do it justice. Boyz II Men was a group of 4 when they were at their peak and could create these harmonies. The no instrumental part of Home Free is just the 5th guy beatboxing. And not to take away from the fact they all Harmonize absolutely beautifully together, but the LEAST IMPRESSIVE part is actually the vocal instrumental portion lol... I say this because I am amazing a beatboxer and comparatively, I know for a fact to make an analogy to basketball, it would look like me doing a behind the back, through the legs, 720 degree reverse dunk on the guy lol... That's not to be cocky either. It's just making the point the least impressive part is the instrument part. There are just so many incredible vocal percussionists that can make an infinite amount of sounds.
@@markshanahan8147 To be fair, this isn't the kind of song to show off skill in, the difference between good and great is knowing when to show off and when to hold back. Showing off in this kind of song would be a mistake, you need to hold the groove not hold the ego here. If you want so see him showcasing there are vids on YT of that.
IMO, nothing will ever replace the original magic from hearing Boyz 11 Men sing this masterpiece, & I am so happy that Home Free, was able to keep the original integrity of the song, yet still inject their own magic, allowing us, to fall in love with it, all over again 💕 *I don't believe any other group, other than Home Free, could have pulled this off, & the fact that they are an a Capella group, puts them on a completely different level of skill & talent* 💕
It had a different emotion in the begining in comparison to the original but you saw it with Rob towards the end with the growls and Austin's vocals too I don't know what else we can expect from them - they did it so well..
I definitely think you are right. Some people just don’t want to give them their flowers. I love every genre of music, even Opera and the funny thing is ROB the one that sang lead vocals on this song also sings Opera and he can even RAP. go figure. 😂
Check out When A Man Loves a Woman, American Pie, Ring of Fire, Brothers In Arms, I Swear (the video will make you laugh) and Man of Constant Sorrow. Home Free is wicked talented and the further you go down the rabbit hole the more you appreciate their unique accapella sound.
So hype to see you on Home Free, interested to see what you'll think of some acapella groups Edit: They're always good but not near my favorite from them, I hope you keep on it homie
You should listen to them When A Man Loves a Woman .. this song gets better the more it goes on .. plus they are acapella .. I understand they don’t sound like Boys to Men .. one of the Boys to Men guys mentored them .. they were discovered on a show called sing off .. I also recommend Of Constant Sorrow by them if U haven’t done it ..Blue Ain’t your Color is a good one ..
I do get what your saying .. no one will ever sound like the original .. I’m not a fan of people doing Whitney either unless they’re just as good or better .. but I lv these guys .. especially because they do everything acapella even the beat the drums etc
The bass singer, Tim Foust, is one of the best in the WORLD! The beatboxer, Adam, is a two-time world champion. The high tenor, Austin, is classically trained. This is NOT just some "random group".
These guys are terrific. Adam Rupp is the beat boxer. This is an acapella group who usually do mostly cover songs. I recommend the "Butts Medley" for a laugh and also Cams "Mayday. I recommend listening to several different songs to get the full picture of what these boys are capable of. Also Adam Rupps "drum" solo
I hear ya. When you pick a legendary track like this, it's hard to appreciate it. I was in high school when B2M hit platinum with this one. It was hard to wrap my ears around it when I first heard it. HOWEVER, please don't judge them by this track. Try "Man of Constant Sorrow" don't know if you've ever heard the original, if not, that one may impress you more. For a funny one, watch their "Butts Remix" it's got a mixture of different genre's and some you'll recognize. But all the songs are about Butts😉
RESPECTFULLY....the difference is in production. This is an acapella group competing with THAT song and production and SPARKING THIS EMOTION, in response to it. Regardless of any criticism, THAT deserves respect. And a follow-up reaction to amazing grace covered by home free. Plz n thk u.
I, being a Home Frie would love to have you do more so many great songs. Some of my favorites are " My Church", " Dive Bar Saints", and " Brothers in Arms". Enjoy
They aren't trying to olut-do or be bvetter than Boyz 11 Men, they just wanted to show how thery enjoy the music.. You need to learn a little more about this band.
STEVIE!!!!!.....I feel ya I watched like 3 of their songs and they killed it but I stayed away from this one I am a 90s boy so in high school this was the answer to all issues with getting in the sheets........but that soul that grit that fucken SOUL just is hard to do and anything less is not enough lol.......man of constant sorrow, ring of fire and I think it's what a woman wants is great to see
Give them another chance Stevie, Home Free is awesome but I understand that originals are the ones we emotionally attach to and of course we all have our favorites. I recommend their Butts Medley, everyone laughs at all the butt songs but the performance and transitions are fire 🔥
I used to feel the same way. Then I listened to some of their other songs. And a year or so later listened to this one again. And then again. I will never say that it's equal to the original, but there are certain things that make it both not as good, and yet, better, at the same time. It took me awhile to see it myself.
Just got done listening to the original for the first time. They definitely did it justice, I’m not hearing what you’re missing. I’ll give you this, I do enjoy the original vocals more but still did it justice.
Also, big homie. I know they don’t have the full sauce but that’s his vocal range. No one can hit the full sauce as boys 2 men but check how holy though art. It hits differently. If it doesn’t hit your expectations I’ll subscribe to your patreon and but whatever merch you want.
I'm with you... growing up on Boyz II Men, that's a tall order... Home Free is awesome, as an a Capella/Country group... The bass is the lead vocalist on a lot of their songs, his name is Tim Foust. He's one of the best right now as far as basses in a Capella. They did a good job... but it did feel like something was missing, that extra seasoning.
I appreciate that Stevie is like the only black person who was like "it was cool.. but". So I dig his integrity vs just saying it was great and being blown away to generate more views.
I like when singers do a song their own way instead of trying to sound like the original. I live Dolly Parton's version of I Will Always Love You. I remember when Dolly did the song in 1974. I also absolutely love Whitney Houston's cover. Dolly wrote the song.
Stevie, hold on sweetie, you're about to get your 'chicken' as you call it....but you gonna get the 'chicken, feathers and the bones, just wait, you won't be disappointed'!!!! Lol You should seriously listen to their whole catalog, when you get time, with no interruptions. They are EXTREMELY TALENTED men. #KNIGHTNATION #HOMEFREE #HOMEFRY
Whenever Home Free covers a song they do the original justice while making their creation their own. They don't just attempt a precise imitation of the original. I sometimes prefer their rendition, though the originals remain classic. I'd point to their cover of John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads" as an example. But we all have our preferences...no right or wrong to it.
As we know..No one can compare to the BOYZ...BUT I will give credit when credit is due and Home Free did an excellent job..Because it dam sure is not easy trying to compare the two that is for sure. Great reaction and thank ya being real.
WTH is wrong with all of you sayin it doesn’t sound like the original! It’s not supposed to sound like the original! BTM singing with full band. HF zero instruments.. no comparison on the talent of the 2 groups. HF hands down more talented as a whole. If you want to hear BTM sing this song, listen to them. It’s not a comparison contest! For the record… I’ve watched almost 100 reactions to this song, and you are the Only one to have a negative thing to say. That says a lot… just sayin 🤷🏻
"Random looking group". That made me smile. Yes, they are, actually. Except, they have higher Q's than most all singers. I then watched as you watched the "original". To be honest, I didn't see, or hear, a huge difference at all, except for the personal tone of the tenor singer. I thought the background singing may have been even better from HF!
Nothing beats Boys 2 Men for sure. Especially if you were listening in the 90s. I have to say one redo of a 90s song that i didn't expect to like is No Diggity by Chet Faker. I was really surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did.
I can see your point, Just wanna say comeing from someone that never listen too boys 2 men hearing home free song got me curious. Kinda a gateway effect. Try home free when a man loves a women.
I think you may have missed the point; they are not trying to copy/mimic B2M, (that would be pointless), and I could tell you were waiting/listening to see if they did! They took an absolute classic, made it their own and with a modern twist! Was done respectfully with a tip of the hat to the original. Loved it.
