I am a Home Fry from the Netherlands. The best thing about Home Free is that they will try out which voices suit each song best. They don't have a real lead singer. There is no rivalry there at all. You just happened to listen to 2 sad songs. But there are also songs where they are really hilarious. They also have no ego at all Only respond on Mayday when you have listened to at least 5 or more songs from them

If you like Tim bass and Chance's baritone check out the cover of Dire Straits's "Brothers in Arms", Very haunting. I also love "Can't Stop the Feelings" when they all get involved in some beatboxing. These guys are also very funny, the "Butts Remix" is a classic by Home Free. A mashup of songs about, as you guessed, butts.

"Sam Winchester" - real name Tim Foust is a rare basso profundo - deepest of bass voices - and yes he has an incredible range of 5 octaves, he can easily sing tenor with Rob and Austin. Adam Chance their baritone has a pretty wide range too and covers the bass whenever Tim is taking the lead. It will never cease to amaze me how "just" 5 people are able to produce a sound of huge church pipe organ and let you constantly forget that there are no instruments backing them. You had to check some of their fun stuff. They can be very serious and emotional with their songs but.... they can be completely hilarious and silly like 5-year olds on a sugar rush too. "Butts Remix", "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget" and "Full of Cheer" ( both originals written by Tim), "All About the Bass".... there are so many...

The bass singer Tim has a 5 octave range. And Chance has a 4 octave range. They all have leads in different songs. Rob...the guy with great beard and glasses does the lead in End of the Road by Boys to Men. And Austin the high lead does a great When a Man Loves a Women.

Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Robb Lundquist (beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. I would recommend reacting to End Of The Road, this will showcase Rob. When A Man Loves A Woman, this will showcase Austin. Brothers in Arms features Tim and Chance. One Man Band and Take Me Home Country Roads is a group effort. Also, find Adam Rupp's drum solo live. Honestly, there isn't a bad song in their vast catalog. I'm a bit envious of your journey of discovering all these guys' amazing talent. Oh, and Tim just released a Doo Wop a capella album, Pieces of Me Vol. 1, in which he sings ALL the parts. You might want to save that for after Mayday.😉

Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and his brother Chris Rupp which is not in the band anymore are the originators of Home Free since 2000. They went through a lot of different members till 2013 when the group was complete with Tim Foust (bass, aka Sam Winchester as you call him lol), Austin Brown (highTenor and lead on The man of Constant Sorrow), Rob Lundquist (tenor, guy with the beard and glasses). 2013 or 2014 they won the sing-off tv show. In 2016 or 2017 one of the founders (Chris Rupp) left and chose Adam Chance (baritone) to be his replacement. Austin Brown, Adam Chance, and Tim Foust have their own channels with solo music and Adam Rupp has some drum solos out on youtube.

I promise you they have so many fun songs, House Party is really great, Hillbilly Bone, Some Girls Do, Fishin in the Dark/ Boondocks. Never Gonna Give You Up, Working for a living, 9 to 5. They have a really huge sense of humor, you just happened to hit on a couple of really deep songs to start out with. But once you see their funny side you'll see just how well rounded they are. I strongly suggest any of the songs listed above to take you down their humorous side. You will love it all. Thanks for another great reaction!

I love Home Free's version of this beautiful song. They really brought out the emotion of it. Tim's lead is amazing with his deep bass. Also love Rob & Chance's solos plus the great harmonies. And Adam is tasteful in making the simple sound of pounding his chest & thigh. I believe we can change our course in life. We don't have to make the same mistakes as our parents. We can choose to rise above it.

Here are a few other great songs you might find interesting; "End of the Road" (Rob goes to church) "When a Man Loves a Woman" (Austin's best vocal showcase) "Hillbilly Bone" and "Folsum Prison Blues" (Country Songs with Bass deep enough to test your subwoofer) "Blue Ain't Your Color" (A cool almost Motown vibe) "The Butts Remix" and "All About The Bass" for funny but still good songs. "American Pie" (A wonderful 50th anniversary homage with Don McLean) "How Great Thou Art" (5 part harmony with no beat boxing) "Mayday" (Great song and it has a surprise once you get used to Tim's subwoofer vocals)

I’m so glad you chose this song to react to. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a reaction to it. It also gave you an opportunity to hear Chance since he didn’t have a lead part in Man of Constant Sorrow. He truly has one of the purest baritone voices out there. You can’t go wrong with any of their music, but I agree with what everyone has said about waiting on Mayday. You will be glad you did because it is truly something spectacular (and my personal favorite). I don’t know if you noticed, but Adam, the beatboxer was helping carry the background vocals along with the chest thumps and he has a beautiful voice as well. They are so addicting to listen to and each have their own moments to shine throughout their catalog.

Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and his brother, Chris Rupp (he left around 2016 for a solo career) are the founders of Home Free. Adam also has a beautiful voice. Adam Chance, (goes by Chance) replaced Chris Rupp. Adam has videos of drum solos. Tim Foust (bass) has a five octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses). Austin Brown (high tenor). You can hear Tim's range by watching "My Maria" with Austin Brown and/or "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" (solo). There are more than 200 Home Free videos (including studio, concert, quarantine and Story Time with Tim) If you watch "Tim Foust's Vibrations" 5-1-2016 (posted by Dana Giffin), I think you be impressed. Watch toward the end as Adam points in Tim's direction and then points to the floor. Adam also does the phantom harmonica in "Workin' for a Livin'" The list goes on-and-on. Enjoy!!

Loved this reaction! Honestly anything you react to from home free will be great! The documentary thing that you mentioned is here on RU-vid! Chris Rupp (the founder and member you will see in older videos) who happens to also be the beatboxer Adam Rupps brother. They formed this group together 22 years ago now I believe. It’s in his channel and he hosts it while bringing in other members of home free. Both Tim Foust (Bass) and Austin Brown (Tenor with long hair) do solo music stuff that is definitely worth checking out at some point! Although I would maybe wait to do tims stuff until after mayday… for while I guess you will see. A fun song (and also shows their names) is their cover of Working for a Living. They did it in the style of the movie Anchorman. Yes, I know others have said it but here is a quick breakdown of the guys: Bass singer (who you call Sam Winchester) is Tim Foust. Tim is originally from Texas, now lives outside Nashville, and has short hair in more recent videos. High Tenor (who sang lead on Nan of Constant Sorrow) is Austin Brown. He is originally from Georgia, now lives outside of Nashville. Tenor (guy with the beard and glasses) is Rob Lundquist. He is from Minnesota. Beatboxer is Adam Rupp. Adam and his brother Chris started the group in 2000. Adam is from Minnesota and sings tenor when he does occasionally sing. Baritone is Adam Chance. He is from Alabama, lives in the LA area of California (he is currently moving from one place to another) and goes by Chance to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp. Chance has been with the group since 2016 and sang bass in his previous group. Sone videos show Chris Rupp, Adam’s brother. He is usually wearing a cowboy hat in those videos. He is the one who has done videos tracing the history of the group on his channel. He has it put all the videos out yet but the ones he does have out tell you a lot about the early years leading up to them becoming the group they are now. Songs I will recommend to you: the Butts Medley (also called the Butts Remix), Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer, Helplessly Hoping (a song by Crosby, Stills & Nash from the 1970’s), End of the Road, Land of the Free (original song written by Tim), Dive Bar Saints (original song), and Remember This (another original song). They have recorded with Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA) and Don McLean (American Pie) do I also highly recommend those videos. You will have a difficult time finding a bad song by them.

Tim Foust, (Sam Winchester) is a bass with a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and yet sing up in the tenor range. Rob Lundquist, (glasses), is a wonderful tenor. Austin’s Brown (ginger) is the high tenor. He sang the lead in Man of Constant Sorrow. Adam Chance (we call him Chance so as not to confuse him with the beatboxer Adam) is the baritone bass. He has a short beard and looks a little like Leonardo DiCaprio. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer and is amazing. Try Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015). He’ll blow you away with his sounds. Chris Rupp was the one who started Home Free back in 2000. None of the original 5 are with Home Free anymore. However, Chris still does work with them on occasion, for instance he was the involved in the production of Butt's Medley along with his brother Adam and Layne Stein from Voiceplay. Butt's Medley had been an idea of his for awhile. Chris has a reaction video out on that. I hope Home Free stays together because what they accomplish together is absolutely amazing and on another level. There is no genre that they cannot master. They brilliant and fit well together in Home Free.

The beat boxer Adam Rupp started the group with his brother Chris who left the group 2016. Adam Chance also known as Chance took his place. He was second solo singer and singes bass when TIm is the lead. TIm, the first solo singer usually does the bass parts but with his falsetto I am told he has a 5 octave range. Austin, the guy with the hat in Constant Sorrow, sings only harmony in this song but is a high tenor and often sings lead. Rob, the guy with the beard, also sings tenor and the other guys says he has the best voice. Adam Rupp also sings and has a great voice. He sings only in some of their songs like HOw Great Thou Art and Helplessly Hoping.

Great reaction! Subbed hoping for more Home Free. Try Broken Road for incredible harmonies and Helplessly Hoping……virtually anything they do is amazing. Do wait on Mayday until you know them better and understand their ranges (high tenor/tenor/baritone/bass, actually basso profundo, and best boxer=vocal percussionist.

Just to clarify our point to Mayday ... for you to really enjoy it fully... you need a clear understanding of their ranges as to who sings what. Get to know their "individual" strengths and how good they are with those strengths because Mayday is pretty special. 😉 I'm lovin' your reactions, guys! Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

Adam the beat boxer and his brother Chris (who is no longer in the group) were the founding members. Rob with the beard and glasses joined after that.

You guys are great! I see the Home Free fans are subscribing. We are totally loyal and follow whoever reacts to our guys!! Thanks so much. I just listened to you do Mayday. Loved how shocked you were and how much you liked it. I love this arrangement too from the guys. So many great ones. If you want crazy fun/funny, check out Butts Remix! lol. And a serious message and incredible harmonies Brothers in Arms is awesome. We've been to six live shows of theirs and they are incredible! They are talented, but also hilarious on stage, like a stand-up show with great music! They interact with the crowd and it's just a great time! Glad you enjoy these talented and great guys. Thanks and take care!

John Mayer, who wrote the song, said this song only took him 20 minutes to write, which never happens. He said he just opened his mouth and it flowed out.

They have a gift for unison singing. They can start and stop perfectly in since. Enjoy helplessly hoping. It's beautiful. By the way the only original member in this video is the beat boxer, Adam Rupp. He and his brother Chris and a friend started the group.

Rob isn't one of the founders of Home Free. Actually the beat boxer Adam Rupp and his brother Chris started this group. Tim. the bass singer has like 7 octaves. Some of the best singers around. :D

They all share the lead. Adam (the beatboxed) and his brother Chris (who left the group-good terms, to do other things) started the group. He chose Adam Chance to replace him. Rob (bearded guy) is tenor, Austin Brown is high tenor, and Tim Faust is bass. They don’t have a bad song,

I can recommend an interview Chris Rupp did with reactor QoFy last August. Chris is very candid in it explaining why he left Home Free and that he actually was not involved in the recruitment of Chance. The pertinent info is at the 33 minute mark of the interview.

Tim and Chance, both sing 5 octaves. You will find out that, there is no leader of the group. They all sing. Tim Fost, just released a song, by himself. Do Wop, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, if you would like to hear his range. He has broken speakers, in live shows, with his sub voice. There are about 4 a Capela groups, that are great. Home Free. Pentatonic, Voice Play, and Voctave. You will see a lot of songs, where they might use a member of one of the other groups singer in their group.
