It's amazing that the Doobie Brothers used 2 drum sets, guitars and other instruments to create this iconic song and 50 yrs later HF took it to the next level using only Adam and their own vocal talents. I love all the new sounds Adam added especially that slide guitar note at the beginning and during the breakdown. He looked like he really had fun with this video.

This is a Doobie Brothers classic from the 70’s. Home Free did it justice. Adam (beatboxer) was crazy good. Austin (lead) was great and loved the low notes by Tim. It’s a good one and just gets you moving. Good reaction Mr. B!🤩😃
@donnaflynn9615

It’s Rob’s great voice leading the choruses and Austin on the verses. A lot of people think it’s Austin doing the whole song. Rob and Austin’s voices flow back and forth seamlessly.

This is simply excellent again!! I have been a fan of the Doobie Brothers for a long time. This song is just timeless. It still swings. Really something for Home Free. So great sung, so great harmonies, bone-feeling bass, But for me it's Adam who makes it truly phenomenal. He nailed it. The vocal percussion is just inhumane. So unbelievably good. For me the very best beatboxer/vocal percussionist/mouth artist there is.
@GrandmasGotGraceLW
@GrandmasGotGraceLW Год назад
Agreed on all points! ... except that Adam's vocal percussion isn't inhumane...that would mean he was out to kill or get rid of humans by whatever means possible. I have a feeling that was only a typo. I DO agree that Adam's vocal percussion seems like it could not have come from a human being (inhuman)! 😀

@@GrandmasGotGraceLW Oops yes that's what I meant. But I'm Dutch and sometimes I have to do it with the translation app. And I think that we in the Netherlands use expressions anyway, which are either translated incorrectly or mean a lot differently in the other languages. But thanks for your correction.

They all have amazing voices. The one who sang this is Austin Brown sky high tenor. The guy with the beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist lead tenor. The guy with the gray streak in his hair is Tim Foust bass. The guy with the short beard is Adam Chance (Chance) is the baritone. Which all have leads on and off. And the last one is Adam Rupp the beatboxer. This is a Doobie Brothers song, but they did a fantastic job with this version. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

I grew up on classic rock & am a big fan of the Doobie Brothers & had their albums. "Listen To The Music" was a big hit for them back in 1972. Love that Home Free is keeping this great music alive & introducing it to the younger generation. The guys did a really nice job of this song. Austin was great for the lead & loved the background harmonies of Rob, Chance & Tim's bass. Adam killed it on the vocal percussion again. He always comes up with some new & interesting sounds.

Someone else wrote that Home Free doesn't do covers - they do up-grades. That they can do a rendition of an iconic Doobie Bros. song - using only vocals - says it all about their talent. Adam Rupp outdoes himself again on the beatboxing, Austin's singing & the harmonies are all perfect. Thanks for playing my favourite acapella band! Love from a Canadian subscriber.

Three of them: Austin Brown (lead on this); Tim Foust (bass) and Adam Chance are song writers, so there are lots of originals as well as covers. Each of the men in HF have their own channels (I think you'd love Austin's originals "Real Talk" and "Off the Grid".).
@franj1414

"Man of Constant Sorrow" got me hooked on them. "When a Man Loves a Woman" I think is Austin's best. For fun are "Quarantine" and "Champagne Taste".

This song just naturally puts a smile on the ole face! And Adam's beat boxing -- wow! BTW Home Free does not have a lead singer per se. They all can sing lead, but the song determines who sings lead ie the voice who fits the song best. And Adam is a league of his own!

Good day sir, enjoying your channel-very positive reactions. This song, Listen to the Music, was originated by the Doobie Brothers and i still jam to it today but so happy to find the Home Free version along with the rest of their music-phenomenal “collective!” The Doobies were my first concert in the early 70’s and Nazareth was with them in west Texas. Have a Blessed day!

I love Home Free. I’m assuming from what you talked about that you haven’t heard any Chance leads. May I suggest: “I Can’t Outrun You “- pure 5 part harmony, hauntingly beautiful, and Chance directed the video. “Cover Me Up “- and let it play out as there is a surprise. “Some Girls Do”, “Helplessly Hoping “. And for a hilarious Tim lead(also written by Tim) “Champagne Taste (on a beer budget).

For something completely different from Home Free.It’s not completely A Cappella A lyric video Chance wrote and took lead on called Skull And Bones. Ubisoft approached them with a great opportunity to write a shanty for Skull And Bones video game they are releasing soon.They also sang a shorter version at Ubisoft Live Premiere.It’s beyond epic

All four singers in Home Free can take the lead. Austin sings When a Man Loves a Woman as lead, Chance sings I Can't Outrun You, Tim sings lead in Brothers in Arms, Rob sings lead in End of the Road. These are just examples of songs that each has sung lead in. They're very versatile and it shows in the quality of their music. Adam gets a chance to shine in the shows where he has a solo performance while the others take a short break.

No. There is no lead. They choose whoever sounds best in the song. Sometimes there are 2 leads, switching mid-song as they did in Unchained Melody, from Tim to Austin. Listen to the Music was by the Doobie Brother and came out in 1972. It was a big hit and it still sounds fantastic today.

I find acapella groups to be a slight step above mimes. Not denying the talent, I just find it pretentious.
@Rkbmomma
@Rkbmomma Год назад
Why pretentious? That's an odd description of a group that focuses on singing, harmonies and articulation of words where you can actually understand what they are singing. So many non-acapella singers today can't sing without the help of autotune.
@dorothytucker9305
@dorothytucker9305 Год назад
Not to mention the tight if not tighter harmonies breaking down each song to figure out what instrument was played and try to recreate that with YOUR MOUTH, and they also do originals... I'd take this over most of the stuff out there today everyday no twice a day each week
