Welcome to the newest “Home Fry”! Austin - high tenor, shines on so many songs, southern drawl. Rob - (glasses), tenor 2, harmonizes so we’ll with Austin. Rob’s a real ham (funny) in some of their videos. Chance - Baritone, and doubles on bass when the bass sings melody. He’s the one doing the jaw harp on this song. Tim - great bass with amazing range 5+ octaves. Will sing chest voice down to about G1, can subharmonic and growl down to about C1, but will also sing tenor occasionally around B4, but can falsetto even higher. Adam - beat boxer extraordinaire. 2x World Champion beat boxer. For a real treat, watch his drum solo videos (live in concert). You’ll be amazed.

I only recently discovered these reactions videos and they're great. But I'm surprised that no one yet has pointed out the chorus of BULLFROGS that sound constantly throughout this super awesome video. With the popping noise he imitates another frog and various other animals exclusive to the swamps. If one has never been in the swamps they would not catch it. But this group has mastered these sounds and so perfectly use them.

Adam Rup, the sound guy, he's an alien. He does the most amazing sounds, including a harmonica. More than simple beatboxing. Adam Chance does some bass, but the star of the deep is Tim Foust. He can do right at the edge of subsonic. It rattles your innards. My favorite from this group is "In The Blood." Beautifully smooth. They have a number of humorous pieces and have a lot of fun with their careers. You might like "Champaign Taste On A Beer Budget". And their "Auld Lang Syne" is beyond stunning. I'm glad to see you had so much fun with this reaction. Thank you.

@@archgirl i will agree he is no sbx finalist but, because of the arrangement "going ham" would distract from the vocals. His fills and specialty noises are what infer, to me, that he is capable of so much more. I wonder how much of the clarity in his harmonica is vocal vs post production....

I'd also like to second what Elaine said and point out that and point out that it was Geoff from Voiceplay that did the arrangement for Home Frees version of Elvira. Voiceplay also does a less than serious version of Elvira in their live show, where the Bass & Tenor fight over the 'Oom pa pa maw maw' part. Finally if you want to see these 2 groups together, their 'Survivor' video is great fun. Yes, they both have better songs out there, but it's fun to watch the zombies (Voiceplay) fight the hillbillies (Home Free!) Wish we could get Avi, Tim and Geoff together for a sub-woofer shattering contest...

I'm a basso profundo and can hit the lower octaves easily, always was in choirs in school...never got to sing anything but background, just one or two notes here and there. Anything more and it would ruin most songs we were performing, it isn't easy to find a song like this where one can really cut it loose. I can't sing that low around my wife, she said it creeps her out totally. My speaking voice is also quite low, I like seeing reactions out in public when I talk to strangers like at the grocery store. Many people look at me like I have two heads....way too funny!

The bass was Tim Foust. I believe he has a 5 octave range. I've even seen some people say a 6 octave range, idk. If you want to check out his high end Mayday is the song you should listen to. The lead singer in the middle is Austin Brown, the guy on the left that did the fill at the end is Rob Lundquist, the beatboxer is Adam Rupp (I believe he's a 2 time world beatboxing champion) and the guy doing the "mouth harp" is Adam Chance. Most just call him Chance so as not to get the two Adams confused. Chance also covers the bass when Tim is singing lead.

From an arrangement perspective, Home Free has a genre-defying discography that spans everything from gospel/blues to country to even some pop (not to mention, they have original pieces as well!). For some suggestions to get into their superb musicianship: - Their rendition of "How Great Thou Art" is a masterwork of four- and five-part harmonies. Seriously. If you only listen to one other song they've done, this is the one to take in. - "Helplessly Hoping" is short (too short!), but the minimalist styling shows of their layering very well - "Go Rest High On That Mountain" (the official video version, not the Church Sessions) for more of that bass foundation you like... from unexpected places - "Mayday" shows off Tim's range, but like most Home Fries I think you should hold off on that one until you're better-familiar with each members' range/talents. - "Ring of Fire" is their most popular video, and for good reason. Aside from the Tim/Avi matchup, it is also the song they sang on "The Sing Off" that really set them apart for the first time. There is SO MUCH to take in with Home Free that it's impossible to really give a summarized list of songs you "must" check out. You'll find something that tickles your ear in every song, whether its an inverted chord, or an unexpected key/time signature change, or a goosebump-inducing chord resolution after several bars of dissonance build!
