I would love it if you played most or all of the song before commenting. If someone doesn’t know it it’s hard to get the feeling with all these interruptions and going back. Not one of your best and you’ve done some great ones.
I saw Fogerty in concert last year in Tampa and he sounds just as strong and clear as he did in 1969! In fact, I closed my eyes at one point and could have sworn I was time traveling--definitely go see him if you get the chance. He tours with his son and daughter backing him now and it's a great show!
Ive always considered this one of the darkest, most powerfully haunting breakup song the blues has ever inspired. Marvin Gaye turned what was originally a pretty standard Motown soul tune into the dark, agonizing tale of betrayal that we recognise today when we hear the title. But FOgerty took that heartache and bitterness and betrayal, tore its heart out and spat it out on the stage . . . but that's only the setup. The band cuts looseand Fogerty's guitar shrieks in agony and self pity, as if committing some sort of steel seppuku, and pouring its blood out onto the listener in riff after distorted riff, for seven long minutes. When it comes to the darkest, cruellest, most lovelorn blues, this song is absolute perfection.
Ugh. This is great and all but INXS started in the 80's. Yes, it's True! I so love this song. I also loved Beautiful Girl, but Don't Change and The One Thing were also great. This is frustrating because you are uneducated about their music. Move on, please.
The "Woop Woops" are Curly from the 3 Stooges! It's the same set that Michael used (Michael insisted!) in, "Beat It", as was the subway station in "Fat". 🤣
Some songs I do wish she would listen first in it entirety then go back. Some of the pause timing are in really unfortunate places. Great to hear what she says but listening to the whole song first might be a better format.
Late to this party, life long hard rock/metalhead guy here, and Depeche Mode is one of my all time favorite bands. Violator is one of best albums ever made. Saw Depeche Mode in concert once many years ago and it's still in my top 5 best concerts I've EVER attended. I was in a crowd of about 10,000 people all singing every word of this song in unison.
Thank you for reacting to my beautiful friend Michael. We met on Sydney's lower north shore in a suburb called Crows Nest (or crowie if you grew up on the North Shore - I was nearly a year older and this "sex God" as some people refer to him (which I find awful) was the kindest, sweetest, shy guy (yes, shy) you could ever hope to meet. Fame took him far away from us - but I remember the daggy cutie I first met. Michael, I miss you so much, the years cannot erase the fact my good mate is no longer here - don't worry mate, I've given up on hating you know who - now I just remember the fun times, sometimes I truly wish you hadn't become famous then we'd still have you here - Lotsa love to ya old mate 💔😢
