Some history: The group was formed in 2000 by brothers Chris (cowboy hat-baritone that you will see in their videos prior to 2016) & Adam Rupp(beatboxer) in Mankato, Minnesota when they were in college at this point it was mostly a hobby. By 2007 they had enough of a following to pursue music full-time. They had several members come and go over the years. Rob Lundquist(tenor), another Minnesotan, joined in 2008. Texan Tim Foust (bass) starting guest subbing with them in 2010. . Tim joined them full-time in January 2012. Later that same year they met Georgia native Austin Brown(high Tenor) on a cruise ship where they were all working. He joined them in January of 2013. Before this point, the group did mostly pop but with the addition of 2 southern boys they added country to their routine and it always got a great reception. So when they decided to try out for "The Sing-Off" they went in as a country band. They won The Sing-Off 2013. No one was doing country acapella back then (not sure if anyone else is doing it now for that matter) So they decided to take a different road to success by taking their music straight to the people via You tube. Patreon was pretty new back in 2014 but they joined set goals and were floored by how many fans (called home fries) joined and put their money down so that the guys could make videos for us. (all the Patreon money goes to making videos). In 2016 Chris Rupp left the group to pursue other musical interests. He was replaced by Adam Chance (from Alabama). He is called Chance so as not to confuse the 2 Adams.
About Tim Foust HF´S bass , he has blown out a few soundsystems . They actually say at their concerts -- if you are pregnant or have a pacemaker you should NOT sit near the subwoofer --WE don´t have insurrence
Home Free are the only well known "Country Acapella" group. They won the last season of the "Sing-Off" on NBC in 2014. They are amazing and I would suggest you listen to a couple of their last videos....a collab with Don McLean on a cover of his iconic song, (Bye bye Miss) American Pie, and also their Valentine's special a c;assic cover of Percy Sledge's 1966 hit "When a man loves a woman". They also have some awesome originals live "Dive Bar Saints", "Why Not?", and "When you walk in". Several that show off their extraordinaey vocal talents are "How Great Thou Art", "Helplessly Hoping" and a collab with Lee Greenwood & the US Air Force Singing Sargents on "God bless the USA" and you might want to look up some of their quarantine videos which are remarkable...."Moonshine", "Flowers on the Wall" and "Meet in the middle", The members are Tim Foust bass (but has a 5 octave range), Rob Lundquist, tenor (big guy with glasses & beard), Austin Brown (high tenor and bands best vocalist), Adam Chance (just known as Chance because the beatboxer is also Adam) and the aformentioned beatboxer who is one of the best in the business)....explore their music, they are truly remarkable...and good dudes too,,,no egos at all
Home Free is amazing. Three of the guys are from the south, two from Minnesota. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own songs. They’ve collaborated with Kenny Rogers, Lee Greenwood, Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, and most recently Don McLean on American Pie. Their harmonies are tremendous and their beatboxer is amazing. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range and can go super low but also sing tenor as well. Lots to listen to. Home Free doesn’t disappoint. Good reaction!
Please do more Home Free!!! You wont be disappointed. They have so many to choose from . Enjoy watching your reactions. When A Man Loves A Woman, Hillbilly Bones, American Pie, just to name 3.
My Church, Elvira, Country-Fried Pop Medley, End of the Road, Take Me Home Country Roads, All About That Bass, Ring of Fire, Colder Weather, Life Is a Highway... The first lead here is also their primary bass but the baritone covers bass when he leads.
Theres: Austin - Tenor (yellow shirt) Rob - Tenor (red shirt) Chris - Baritone ( black T-Shirt) later on replaced by Chance Tim - Awesome Bass (longer hair, black leather jacket) Adam - Drums (I think he ate drumkit) (with bandana) Chris's brother
One of the founding members, Chris Rupp, who is no longer with the group (replaced by Adam Chance), has his own RU-vid channel and did a 'making of' style video where he talks about some of the background of the song and video: Butts Medley by Home Free (Chris Rupp - REACTION & CRITIQUE). My favorite note is how they intro each new song into the current one - its something you don't think about the first listen-through.
Hi from Denmark , as you may have noticed if you like our guys , the fries will come running ,we love our guys and we are very loyal . you have to keep in mind Home Free has over 1.8 million youtube subs and we all have at least 2 song requests , here are mine -- Your Man , the crazy life concert version , and a original -- It look´s good
A little history for ya. The group was started by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp. Chris is a baritone (wearing the black cowboy hat in this video; left the group a while back), Adam is the beatboxer(winner of several competitions, and referred to as "the freak of nature" or "the human drum kit). They, along with Rob (with the beard) who is the lead tenor, are from Minnesota. Tim Foust, the very tall one is from Texas and has a 5 octave range; is the bass. Austin Brown, the redhead, is from Georgia and is their high tenor. After Chris left, they brought in Adam Chance (who's called Chance so there's no confusion with 2 "Adams" You'll see him in their later releases. Chance is a baritone with bass capabilities and he picks up the bass line when Tim is doing a solo bit.
Adam Chance had been the bass in another acapella group Street Corner Symphony, which competed in Season 2 of The Sing-Off. I was a fan of them during that season’s broadcast, so I was delighted when he joined Home Free!
Home Fries and Pentaholics are pretty much familiar. As ptx, home free switched 1 member, now they have 2 bass singers with crazy ranges. Tim Foust actually worked with Avi of Ptx on the lowest register. Home free's beat boxer is a award winner. For me not as versatile as KO, as he does instruments too. For me ptx is more astetics and perfection, when home free is craftsmanship and fun.
Someone probably already said this but you might appreciate the Adam Rupp drum solo video. It's like 9 minutes of the beatboxer showing off at one of their shows.
Thank you, we LOVE Home Free! Be sure you watch Adam Rupp beat boxer world class do a live performance. Usually found as Adam Rupp Live Drum Solo. In lives shows (been to six and cannot wait for next one!) he does 7-9 mins during the show and brings the house down!!! You sit shaking your head what he can do. They are incredible!! Keep on watching, many, many, many that are awesome, fun, funny, serious, covers, some originals. Super guys! Super talent, all can sing and so solos. Happy to see you. Take care.
I don't know anything about mics but I have heard the guys joke in the interview that Adam (the beatboxer) has his own mic because of all the spitting. In fact, the guys call him Spitter. They have all sorts of genres to pick from, you can't go wrong with them.
If I recall this was one of their earlier releases (like 5+ years ago). They have went next level now. Their very entertaining, and have learned choreography, and have some comedy relief integrated into the show now. They used to just kind of stand there, and sing. Now they've actually progressed to being performers.
Just an FYI on the Beatboxer of Home Free, Adam "The Freak of Nature" Rupp ... he was twice voted best All-Around Beatboxer by his peers at the World Beatboxing Competition.
I’m curious where to find this info about the World Champs!?!Google was not helping here. To my knowledge Adam Rupp has never competed internationally. He has won two local sweepstakes in Midwest.
The Baritone with the cowboy hat (Chris Rupp) and the beat boxer (Adam Rupp) started the a capella group in 2000 or 20001. Adam was a freshman in college at the time. Eventually they got Tenor Rob Lundquist, then Bass Tim Faust. High tenor Austin Brown joined in 2012. They won the Sing Off in 2013 and the rest is history.
Yeah, welcome to the rabbit hole that never ends! Lol You'll have a lot of fun and you'll be going wow a lot. These guys are looking out every single time. You can't go wrong whichever song you go with next. Keep them coming. New sub, and clearly a Home Fry (Crazy Euro Fry to be specific) here. Great reaction! Thanks!
Adam Rupp (beatbox - contra tenor) Mancato Minn. (founder) Rob Lundquist (tenor) Minn. (red shirt) Austin Brown (tenor - contra tenor) Tipton Geor. (yellow shirt) Chris Rupp (bare) Mancato Minn (Founder) (black tee) Tim Faust (bass [through tenor]) east Texas (leather) Chris left the group and was replaced be Adam Chance (Bare/bass) (lead on Some Girls Do)
Tim, the first solo, is the bass. Assuming the bass when Tim was singing here is Chris. Chance does bass now when Tim sings solo sincr Chris left the way Scott does for Avi and Matt in PTX.
On a record Tim would sing bass even if he sang lead, but in a concert Chris would sing bass. Now that they have Adam Chance, he will sing bass also on a record if needed.
Tim has blown out too many speakers, and they now carry their own for concerts that can handle it. There’s a video of Austin (high tenor) sitting on the speaker to ‘feel’ Tim’s low notes. It is hilarious.
Adam is just crazy talented...he does a solo at their concerts. I was lucky to be sitting about 10’ from him ...it was too Great 🤪🙃💖‼️. We had some Great seats...loved it !!!
Chris Ruff started the group with his beatbox brother Adam like 18 years ago when he was in college. They are from Minnesota. Then tenor Rob (beard) was added from Minneapolis. MN. Tim Faust came later from Southeast Texas. About 7 years ago Austin Brown (redhead) joined from Tifton, Georgia. Recently Chris left to pursue other interests and Chance ( I think that's his name) came on from Alabama
The guy in the cowboy hat and the beatboxer are brothers. They started the group in college they are from Minnesota. The guy that was singing first is the bass Tim Foust from South East Texas. He has a five octave range. The guy in the yellow shirt is Austin Brown from Georgia. He is the sky high tenor. And the guy in the glasses and great beard is Rob Lundquist the lead tenor. He is from Minnesota also.
They are from Minneapolis Minnesota. Chris and Adam Rupp formed home Free. The tenors are Rob from Minnesota and Austin from Georgia. The Bass is Tim from Texas. They competed and won the reality series The Sing Off.
They use Shure mics and the heads are special for bass and beatboxing. They all have personal mics of course. Thanks for the informative reaction! Looking forward to more Home Free reactions!
I believe they were originally based out of Minnesota. You have just scratched the surface of Home Free's awesome a cappella stuff. Check out "Mayday", "When A Man Loves A Woman", "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Ring of Fire", "End of the Road", "Fishin in the Dark/Boondocks"...the list is SO long...
Tim Foust (the main singer on Badonka donk) is the bass and he has quite the range. Home Free does sing with regular mikes; however, Tim has been known to blow speakers. They are a road/festival travelling band that toured extensively then won Sing Off. You can find their performances on You Tube.
Home Free is an amazing group. They were on the Sing Off (a shortened last season, having fewer groups competing) Tim Foust the bass (singing lead here in Honky Tonk Ba Donky Donk) has something like a five octave range, The Baritone, guy with cowboy hat, Chris Rupp left the band a few years ago. He was one of the founding members along with his brother the Beat Boxer Adam Rupp. He was replaced with Adam Chance taking over those duties. Adam Chance also has an incredible range in his voice, he goes by Chance so there is no confusion with two Adams in the band. Rob Lundquist Tenor, bodacious beard and wearing aviators in this video, has many talents, he is the one doing the whistling on this one and a couple of other vids. And then there is Austin Brown, the slimmer guy rolling around on the floor with the mic in hand. Absolutely beaut of a voice, classically trained. There is a video of him singing a song from Les Miserable on RU-vid. They are mostly country but cover all sorts of genres, they have some of their own original releases, just not covers. They also have some incredible gospel and Christmas music as well. Their rendition of How Great Thou Art, is a truly awe inspiring and spiritually moving song and the visuals fit the song so very well. So enjoy!
Founded by Adam Rupp (beatbox champion) and brother, Chris Rupp (cowboy hat). Some of my favorite Home Free songs are “All About That Bass”, “Man of Constant Sorrow “, (“Snow Globe”, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, both originals by bassist Tim Foust), “Mayday”. Adam Rupp’s solos are awesome, and he arranged their version of “Do You Hear What I Hear”, which is jaw dropping ear candy! 🤯
They were founded in Minnesota or Wisconsin. The bass Tim Foust is from Texas, the tenor Austin Brown is from Georgia and the baritone Adam Chance is from Alabama. The other tenor Rob and the beat boxer Adam are two from WI or MN. They have several live performances on their RU-vid channel. In one Tim the bass blows a speaker in another Adam performs a drum solo. You should listen to their cover of Crosby, Steeles, & Nash's " Helplessly Hoping," and Boys 2 Men's "End of the Road. " You will really enjoy them. Other favs are " Ring of Fire, When a Man Loves a Woman, and Folsom City Blues."
The bass is Tim Foust, the one singing lead on Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. He had what I call a bottomless voice...check out Folsom Prison Blues and listen to that last note he sings. Rob Lundquist is tenor (and amazing whistler) doing the rap. Adam Rupp is the beat boxer and is amazing...I heard he swallowed a drum kit as a toddler LOL. His brother Chris is in the cowboy hat and sings baritone/bass. Austin Brown is in the yellow plaid shirt and sings high tenor. Chris Rupp left the group and was replaced by Adam Chance who is an amazing baritone/bass and like Chris did before him covers the bass lines when Tim sings lead. I never cared for Acapella groups until I came across a video of them with the Oak Ridge Boys doing Elvira and that got me hooked.
Won The Sing Off after Pentatonix. Their main sound since has been country. Tim is the bass. Tim Foust, Avi Kaplan & Geoff Castelluccio (Voice Play) are oft compared. Fans are called Home Fries.
A group based in Minnesota but they live between Texas, Minnesota and Nashville. Listen and react to Ring of Fire off the show the Sing Off. Tim is the bassist for the group.
I really enjoy listening to your channel! You talk about the performance and don't just speak to hear your own voice. And of course you really like Home Free so that moves you up in my opinion!
I just subscribed!! Welcome to HOME FREE HOME FREE is a county A Capella band that does more than country. Tim Foust, the bass, Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, Adam Chance (Chance) is the baritone/bass, since 2016, he took over for Chris Rupp (one of the founders of the group), Rob Lundquist, tenor and Austin Browm high tenor make up the voices of angels. PLEASE listen to more.. If I know my Home Free family well, they have already given you suggestions of music. LOL Thanks for the reaction
So, in this one, Chris Rupp, (the beatboxer's brother) sings some of the bass when Tim sings lead. Not that Chris has left, Adam (Chance) does the backing bass when Tim sings higher parts. On this, I'm not sure if Chris is actually singing the bass or if they double-tracked it with Tim. I do know Chris is capable of singing bass when needed, since he's a baritone, but not quite as low and full as Chance who sings with them now. Chance was the bass in a country acapella group (also on the Sing-Off competition the same season Home Free won it).
Hey Jacob, going through your HF playlist again lol and you asked the question about the mics. I don't know if anyone ever answered you but look at the bottom of their mics. They've each got a different color on them. In some of the BTS of them on tour you see the mics laid out with each of their colors on the mic they take before going on stage.
Former member Chriss Rupp has his own YT channel now where he sometimes reacts to Home Free videos, also giving interesting BTS information. This song is among those he reacted to. He said e.g. that, while Adam (beatboxer) was doing the scratching Tim (bass) was beatboxing and he himself sang bass.
Home Free is a great group of men. They are mainly country a cappella, but do so much more. So much fun and there are tons of requests for songs down below, so I will let that go for now. The season they won the Sing off was the 4th, in case you want to check any of that out. Thank you so much for the reaction. See ya soon. :)
Tim the bass is from Texas, Austin, yellow plaid is from Georgia, they both live in Nashville now. Rob (beard), Adam the beatboxer, and his brother Chris, cowboy hat are from Minnesota
@@JacobRestituto there is a bunch of concert videos. They are goofballs. Also, there is a concert video of Adam's "drum" solo. Insane...he definitely eats percussion instruments for breakfast.
This song is so fun and silly. I love the part where the beatboxer imitates that low-pass filter sound (If I’m getting that right? I learned that term for the first time from one of your Tame Impala videos lol)
All the covers they do have their own lighthearted spin on them. Even their gospel hymns have a "wrinkle". Their beat boxer is one of the best anywhere. If your wife likes country check out their version of "Blue Ain't Your Color". Fun stuff.
The Home Free rabbit hole is deep and diverse. A couple of fun ones are All About That Bass, Countryfried Pop, and Hillbilly Bone! You really can't go wrong with anything these guys do. I would suggest one thing though. You'll have people request Mayday! Please do NOT react to it until you have a good understanding of what each member's part is in the group. You'll appreciate Mayday so much more if you wait. Great reaction, new sub here! When it gets out that you're doing Home Free reactions, the Home Fries will show up!
You may find Chris(original member/founder who went solo-brother to Adam-beatboxer) Rupp's "reaction/critique" video interesting for both MEDLEY song Choices as well as various visual elements. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zqLeU9k1PMo.html (not the behind the scenes that was mentioned post video)
There's an interview with Chris Rupp (co-founder of the band with his brother Adam, the beatboxer). This was Chris Rupp's pet project and he says that his sister had worked with a modeling agency and that's where the women in the video were from. Since they didn't want to objectify the women, the only 'butts' are theirs. Austin Brown (high tenor) choreographed the line dance and the man in the cut-off coveralls is a friend of Rob Lundquist (Sir Mix-a-lot) and appears in other videos.
you do realize that's Adam Rudd (the beat boxer) doing the music part. There are no instruments at all. That's all him. He said they do the arrangements and lay their tracks and then he figures out what kind of instruments he needs to imitate to make the song work.

Good review (as always), but it's "med - lee" not "mel - uh - dee". They mean two very different things. You're the 2nd or 3rd person with a "music" background saying this in reactions. Sorry to be so picky.
