Home Free's timing of songs/ videos have been perfect. For example, "American Pie" on its anniversary, "Never Wanna Give You Up" on April Fool's, "One Voice" for Mental Health Awareness Month" and this one for Memorial Day. They are very smart about the timing, not just the production and singing. I just love them.
@@JacobRestituto I got a bit emotional because here in Chattanooga TN in July it will be 6 years since the terrorist shootings here. The fallen five: 4 Marines and 1 Navy. I also liked how they had the female veteran shown in this video.

Great reaction, Jacob! They did a fabulous job on both the music and the video. Tim was on a live chat before and after the premier, and at one point he said that the 2 primary characters are military - she's active duty, while he's a vet. Home Free always manages to pull at my heart strings - and I'm so glad that they released this on Memorial Day weekend. My Dad served during the Korean War, although he was never overseas for action. We are so incredibly blessed to have people who serve our country so bravely.
This is a beautiful song. I had a hard time watching and listening before todays premier. I watched it the first day and the emotions were...well...you can understand. But was able to go back and watch again and today. My family members and friends in the armed forces were mainly during Vietnam. One didn't make it home (a good friend who never got to see his son) and one came home with half a foot missing. My husband made it home in pretty good shape. This is something everyone should see and hear. Thank you so much for this reaction. God Bless the Men and Women out there fighting for us all.

So, Home Free now seems to have a song for release in keeping with every holiday. Tim said today they recorded about 20 videos in a week, when they finally got back together post-Covid. With them finally going back on tour fans will still get new releases while they are out of studio. Congrats to HF for always getting the sentiments, the fun and the gravity just right in their music, for the world we live in today. For recognizing that music is more than just about entertainment.

Hi Jacob! This is a cover, and the original is by The Chicks, not sure. I believe they altered the lyrics just a bit, for the female soldier. The Austin, Chance, Rob trio is outstanding, the harmonies are awesome. Everybody shines here! Perfect timing, releasing it around Memorial Day!

One of the best songs by Home Free. I'm a Vietnam Veteran who served two tours and wounded twice. Back then receiving letters from home was very important to us. Holiday's was even more so.
Travelin' Soldier" is a song written and originally recorded by American country music artist Bruce Robison in 1996 and again, in rewritten form, in 1999. It was later recorded by Ty England on his 1999 album, Highways & Dance Halls. It was then performed by the Dixie Chicks. The wording was changed a little, it was a male soldier before and Vietnam, not Middle East. It is a beautiful song and like always, Home Free brings it!
Both actors are army vets. Song was written in 66 about a young man going to Vietnam writing to his highschool sweetheart. Dixie Chicks sang it in early 70s about a guy going to war. Home Free made it their own and changed to a woman going to the middle east making it relevant to today. Home Free is the best!
Hey Jacob, First time viewer of your channel and former Long Island resident (including Northport) You did an awesome job reacting to this video. I appreciated not only your technical commentary but the empathy with which you received this song as it developed. Home Free is in a class of their own when it comes to their vocals and ability to communicate to the heart and their selection of songs to drive the point home. If you have not reacted to the driver it is produced equally as well though not quite an emotional roller coaster as traveling soldier is. I would love to see your reaction to that one as well as helplessly hoping in the blood and brothers in arms. Thanks for your great work.
In Canada we commemorate our veterans on Remembrance Day (Nov. 11). As school children we all learn the famous poem "In Flanders Field" - if you've never read the poem, it's available on the 'net. I love this song, it's so sad but they sing it so movingly (the original was by the (Dixie) Chicks).
This was bittersweet. Such a sweet video and a good song but sad in the end. It’s not an original and had the guy as the soldier so it was nice that Home Free switched it around. They sound so good. As you said their harmonies are so good and Adam was excellent as usual. Good reaction and have a nice weekend.
It's such a powerful song. I'd love to see you react to the original 2002 cover by The Chicks. It's a great performance video, that beautifully highlights their awesome harmonies and incredible musicianship!
This is one of those great covers that HomeFree does so damn well, and for all the Female Vets your service and sacrifice are just as important as the Men as I am a Male Vet and I have seen how Female vets get treated this needs to stop we are all Americans male or female.

The last minute of the song, could tell you were moved by the story, no comments, but your facial reaction said everything. On another note, Travelin' Solider was written by Bruce Robison who recorded it in 1994 and released it in 1995. Dixie Chicks released their cover of it in 2002.
This song is an adaptation of the Dixie Chicks song of the same name. The biggest differences is that in the Dixie Chicks' song, the soldier was male and stationed in Viet Nam, but Home Free have a female soldier being deployed to the more modern Middle East conflicts. The overall story is still pretty much the same otherwise.
