It took me a very long time to discover this show because when I saw it in the TV guide I always thought it was an actual home improvement show, and not a sitcom.
They’ve been playing the theme song from Seasons 1-2 during the NHL playoffs, whenever there’s a stoppage to fix the ice/player equipment/etc... It’s been awesome hearing the nostalgia!
According to IMDB, she's still somewhat regularly getting bit roles today. Interestingly, she's also guest-starred on Tim Allen's current sitcom Last Man Standing (as Helen Potts)!
I think the grunt was from the mom. No pun intended. I think it was took from out of one of the episodes . i just watched . tim grunted then she then he then she then him. Her second grunt was the one that stood out to me the most.
In my opinion I always thought the theme song is what made this tv show epic. I once tried to sing it on my tape recorder as a child unsuccessfully. 😂😂😂😂😂 Man I miss the 90's.
Tim: C'mon, Brad. I'll build you the college dorm room with all the functions you saw on Tool Time. Just name one thing you want, and I'll get it. Brad: Heidi?!
@@MarkyMarc89 It seems like he never wanted to be in the 8th season in the first place but the writers more than likely wanted to give his character a proper sendoff so they kept him out of the credits even though he was in half of the season
JTT not want be in the tv show in 8 season, his caracter get off to study to costa rica, rumors saids he had a bad personality, he's not come back to the finale
Initially they wanted to call it “Hammer Time”, but that name was taken by a particular rapper so they went with “Home Improvement”, which is kind of disappointing because for many years people thought it was a DIY show and not a sitcom.
I'd forgotten that this show ran for almost the entirety of the '90s. My brain tends to associate it with a single homogeneous period in my life, yet nothing could be further from the truth - I watched it with my family from 6th grade until I was a freshman in college! So much changed during that time span. It was kinda nice to have that constant that we could all sit down and enjoy for so many years.
I lived in a few houses as a kid but I have the strongest/fondest memories of the house I lived in from ages 8-18 and this theme song immediately takes me back to that house (I was born in 1985)
Mackenzie Wachter Buxz Lightyear: EERRUUGGGHHH??!? But honestly, I wish Buzz Lightyear made that strange noise like Tim Allen did in Home Improvement, that would've made the movie funnier and everyone would've understood the reference XD
I wasn’t born in the 90’s, but I grew up watching it on DVD with my dad. It’s really one of the best sitcom’s ever made, and it was a big part of my life. I really got to to try and have a marathon.
I used to be terrified of the theme song. And the bumper after the end credits. And the noise at the end of the theme song. And the logo... I had very irrational fears as a child.
This is a classic. I remember watching Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego with my little brothers then we would watch this when our parents got home from work.
The working title of the Tim Allen show was Hammer Time. That name was nixed after the massive success of MC Hammer and his inescapable single "U Can't Touch This," which of course declared, "Stop! Hammer time!", both a play on the catchphrase made popular by artist MC Hammer and the name of the fictional fix-it show within the series, which was also called Hammer Time. By the time ABC committed to the project in early 1991, Allen and his team had already changed the title to Home Improvement. The show hosted by Tim Taylor in the shooting script for Home Improvement was still called Hammer Time when the first pilot with Frances Fisher was filmed in April 1991. The catalyst for the series' name change was to represent the aspect of fixing problems within the family and home life, as well as the use of mechanics and tools. Once the second phase of the pilot was produced, with all the actors that made the final cut into the series (including Patricia Richardson), Tim Taylor's Hammer Time became Tool Time. The producers settled on Home Improvement and "Tool Time" as alternates.
I remember watching home improvement I am a kid and 11 years old and I remember watching the Halloween episode when brad was dress as a doll I was like 3 years old.
For this show intro 1 is my favorite of them all the guitar is epic and i love how it gradually gets heavier and heavier as time goes one :P I feel like im one of the few who notices that the guitar and the guitar solos get heaviers as each season goes on.
I miss old themes for tv shows like this. Whatever happened to them? Cheers? ER? Dukes of Hazard? A-Team? Chips? Baywatch? I know there's many many more, but those are just a few off the top of my head. Nowadays, it's just the title/logo and a 3 second tune. Miss old tv.
This show has quite a few things in common with Roseanne: 1. They both aired on ABC in America. 2. They're both about a family. 3. They both star stand up comedians. 4. The third ever episode of both involves the married couple going on a date. 5. They both had the same creator Matt Williams, who created Roseanne by himself and co created this show.
Michael Phillips And I thank you for fixing my statement, and happy to see people like you around here who doesn't sound like some white cop on a messing up on a comment.
Seasons 2 to 6 had the best theme with a slight lean towards 2 & 3. Season one was the warm up, 2 and 3 was the full version, 4 to 6 were the radio edit and seasons 7 and 8 altered it fractionally downward in quality.
I was a little young to watch this when it was originally on but I do remember some of it. lol. I just remember the intro with Tim Allen's EEEAAUUGGGGHH?! grunt. XD I was 2 when it first started back in 91. Now I'm re-watching it in syndication/RU-vid's full episodes and it's awesome. haha. I wish I was old enough to remember when it was a huge hit on ABC.
Glad that Mr. Allen is back on TV but I just feeling like his current show doesn't have the same feel as HI. I liked the episode last year where Patricia Richardson guest starred and they made it like an episode of Home Improvement, with the same camera angle they always used in the backyard when he talked to Wilson. lol.
You do realize this show didn't end until 1999, right? How the hell were you not old enough to watch it while it aired? Assuming that your peak childhood is from about age 5-10, you were probably old enough to remember the episodes aired between 1994-1999. Not to mention there were a shit-ton of reruns in the late 90s and early 00s. Do you honestly not remember anything before age 10? I don't mean any offense, but most people start to vividly remember stuff from about age 4/5.
I remember watching this when it premiered back in 1991 and I was only seven years old, at first I didn't know what to think of this show, it felt completely different from Married With Children, but I started getting used to it, because there things in Home Improvement that me laugh so hard, it was a great show
Tim Allen timeline Is important for time travelers... one man either going to jail or not gets you a universe with or without this tg show that influenced the real estate market and changed history by quite a few time points
